From Sarah Jessica Parker to Kristin Davis, brilliant actresses showed what it was like to ride the bumpy rollercoaster of friendship. The show ran for six seasons before progressing into spin-offs, creating a world of its own.

Of course, there is much we cannot forget about Sex and the City but Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall’s alleged feud will always be on the top of the list. Despite being best friends in the show, they go through a falling out and it looks like fiction was not too far off from reality after all.

The second season of Sex and the City revival And Just Like That was a smashing success, and here's all the season 3 news teasing what awaits when Carrie returns. The revival was originally supposed to be a miniseries before it was renewed for a second season, but the Sex and the City continuation has seemingly become the second leg of the franchise. And Just Like That follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate life in New York City in their 50s, dealing with grief, complex friendships, sexuality, and gender.
From the start, And Just Like That differed from HBO's Sex and the City. Carrie's main love interest Mr. Big (Chris Noth) died in the first episode, and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) never appeared on screen due to Kim Cattrall initially refusing to return. Sex and the City tells the story of sex and relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her close circle of friends navigating life and love against the backdrop of 1990s and early aughts New York City. The show offered a poignant look at the importance of female friendship and the nuances of modern relationships, offering a groundbreaking female perspective for its time. While the friendship between Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Carie remains its focus, the contenders for the best boyfriend from Sex and the City remains a topic of conversation.
The group of women date and marry numerous men throughout Sex and the City's six seasons. However, there are several standouts, including Samantha's boyfriend, who shaves his head in solidarity when she battles cancer, Carrie's fiancé, who renovates her entire apartment, and Charlotte's second husband, who worships the ground she walks on.

One of TV's most recognizable (and highest-paid) actresses, Sarah Jessica Parker has an unsurprisingly fabulous net worth. Parker started appearing in films in the 1980s, with her first major role being Rusty in Footloose. She continued to work steadily, famously playing the enchanting witch Sarah Sanderson in Disney's 1993 cult classic, Hocus Pocus. But it would be her role as Sex and the City's shoe-obsessed protagonist Carrie Bradshaw that catapulted Parker to the A-list. The wildly successful HBO show spawned two movies, and its sequel series And Just Like That is coming back for season 3.
Parker was born in Nelsonville, Ohio to mother Barbara and father Stephen, and she's the fourth of eight siblings. From an early age, Parker knew she wanted to act, and made her Broadway debut at age 11. Outside of her acting career, Parker dated Robert Downey Jr. from 1984-1991. The HBO series Sex and the City is remembered as a show about women navigating dating in their 30s in New York, but the best episodes of Sex and the City are about much more than that. The series follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) as they balance their careers, friendships, and romantic relationships. Because they are all in their 30s when the original series takes place, the show navigates a lot of adult milestones, like career setbacks, marriage, and having children.
Where Sex and the City truly flourishes is in its showcase of female friendships as they navigate their own lives. The four women at the center of their show have their own storylines, their own romances, and their own conflicts to overcome, but they are there for one another when it counts. We largely have HBO to thank for all the incredible, genuinely profound work we enjoy in the television medium today. Founded in 1972 as a premium destination for movies and major events, it is now synonymous with its indelible contributions to the art of serialized storytelling -- and we've gathered and ranked several of the network's best shows ever.
Take note that this list doesn't represent the entirety of the network's greatest achievements. We made the difficult decision to omit talk shows and news programs ("Last Week Tonight with John Oliver"), documentaries ("The Jinx"), Max Originals ("Peacemaker"), and those series that lean a little too far toward reality ("How To with John Wilson). What remained were 20 of the greatest stories ever told, together defining in large part the standard we expect from television in the 21st century.

March 17, 1951 was a great day in history, because that’s the day Kurt Vogel Russell entered the world. And while he would go on to become one of the biggest icons of the eighties and nineties, many folks don’t know that Russell started as a child star for The Walt Disney Company, even acting opposite his future life partner Goldie Hawn in The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968) – although they wouldn’t get together until Russell ended up in another movie starring Goldie Hawn, Swing Shift (1984). From the sixties into the seventies, he starred in Disney flicks like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), but as the studio’s movies started to flop and Russell got older, a change of pace was needed. Arguably, Russell’s career took off when he began working with director John Carpenter, with the first movie being 1979’s TV movie Elvis, but what...

Tom Wolfe's social satire "The Bonfire of the Vanities" was published in 1987 and was constructed as a wry, readable send-up of New York's high society at the time. Its story follows a callow yuppie named Sherman McCoy who, while out on a drive with his mistress Maria, accidentally head into the Bronx. A series of small misunderstandings results in Maria taking the wheel and accidentally running over a Black teenager, Henry Lamb, then fleeing the scene. The accident is covered by a burned-out tabloid reporter named Peter Fallow, whose reporting leads to McCoy's arrest. The bulk of the narrative then focuses on McCoy's trial. No one is wholly good in "Bonfire," and most of the characters are largely bad.
The book was infamously adapted into a feature film by Brian De Palma in 1990, and, boy howdy, is it bad. Every character is miscast, with Tom Hanks playing Sherman...

As the oldest member of the iconic ensemble, many fans wonder how old Samantha is in Sex and the City. Sex and the City premiered on HBO in June 1998 and ran for six seasons, following Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall). Following the series finale in 2004, the franchise expanded to include two feature-length films before the franchise returned, with ...And Just Like That in 2021. However, Samantha has only appeared in a single cameo in the show so far.
Sex and the City was groundbreaking in its portrayal of successful, independent female characters who weren't afraid or embarrassed to talk about sex. Samantha was pragmatic, at times vulgar and inappropriate but unflinchingly honest. And without her abundance of episodic male suitors and explicit scenes, there would have been far less "sex" in Sex and the City. More importantly, Samantha...

Tom Hanks has had nothing short of one of the most storied and incredible acting careers of all time, with some particularly career-defining films of his coming out in the 1990s. He is an actor capable of playing any role in a multitude of genres, from serious dramas to laugh-out-loud romantic comedies; his range and ability are seemingly never-ending. Hanks has a natural, universal appeal with his youthful good looks and effortless charisma that has helped him cement his status as one of the best acting talents to ever grace the screen.
Whether portraying the naive yet brilliant titular character in Forrest Gump or the commanding Captain Miller in Saving Private Ryan, he has an incredible way of bringing authenticity to every role. A career spanning many decades with multiple Academy Award wins, his work in the 1990s would be enough on its own to have a memorable body of work.

Add “TV critic” to Megan Thee Stallion’s long list of descriptors. The rapper, singer and songwriter stopped by “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday theoretically to promote her upcoming album, “Megan: Act II.” Instead, most of her interview with Jimmy Fallon was dedicated to her review of “Sex and the City,” a show that ended 20 years ago. And Megan has thoughts.
“Nobody told me that ‘Sex and the City’ was this good,” she told Fallon. “I’m pissed. Nobody said, ‘Megan, you should be watching ‘Sex and the City’ for the culture.'”
The “Her” rapper doesn’t exactly know how she started watching the HBO show, but she remembers she was drawn to it because she kept seeing pictures of Sarah Jessica Parker “looking pretty as f–k.” When she then panicked over dropping the f-bomb on broadcast TV, Fallon waved her off.

True Sex and The City fans know whether they’re a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, or Miranda. But do they know how the TV characters would vote, if they could vote, in the 2024 presidential election? On Tuesday, October 22, a social media user who couldn’t help but wonder went viral with an X thread with their thoughts on the main characters’ political affiliations. The iconic HBO series centered around the New York City misadventures of BFFs Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon). It ran from 1998 to 2004 and resulted in two movies (some may prefer to forget the second), and the And Just Like That reboot. While the show occasionally touched on politics, the ladies never outright stated their party alignments at brunch or otherwise. The X user has put forth their theory about who each of ...

While the 1991 sci-fi political thriller "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" was still being developed at Paramount, the half-Vulcan-half-Romulan officer Saavik was originally going to play a sizeable role. Saavik, Trekkies can tell you, first appeared in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan," and was played by Kirstie Alley in one of her earliest acting roles. Saavik was introduced as a protégé of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and displayed a lot of befuddlement over the emotional lives of the humans she was to work with. Saavik returned for "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" in 1984, but Alley was replaced by actress Robin Curtis, playing the part in a more stern and emotionless fashion. Curtis also appeared briefly at the start of "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home."

Matthew Broderick may not have appeared in Sex and the City — but he wanted to.
The actor and husband of Sarah Jessica Parker, who starred in the HBO series, stopped by James Corden’s This Life of Mine show on SiriusXM. During his conversation with the former late night host, the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star was asked if it was true he was asked to be in the romance drama multiple times and opted not to.
“Whenever there was a part that I could do, I couldn’t do it is really all that happened,” he explained. “But also sometimes, it was like, ‘Do you want to do two days as the premature ejaculator?’ And I’d be like, ‘You know, I don’t know. It’s just kind of embarrassing.’”
While it would’ve seemed likely that Parker approached him about guest starring in her show, that was never the case.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on the brink of a full-cast reboot because cast dynamics have gotten so out of pocket.
Melissa Gorga, who has been on the show since its third season, is well and truly on the chopping block.
Despite continued drama with sister-in-law Teresa Giudice, Melissa has connections with many of her fellow cast members, which should theoretically make her a slam dunk for a comeback.
Sadly, Melissa didn’t have much skin in the game on Season 14 because Teresa elected not to acknowledge her, which resulted in the long-running cast member putting in the work of a guest cast member.
After the season concluded, Melissa continued talking about the ladies in interviews and even made rude comments about Jennifer Aydin at her husband’s comedy show.

Sex and the City was a television staple of the late 90s and early 2000s, but there are still questions about why it ended after season 6. Throughout its impressive run, Sex and the City brought together a wide audience who loved the snarky sex-related drama and romantic elements, making it one of the most popular HBO shows of its time. The show chronicled the many sexual escapades and relationships that the main characters had while living in Manhattan, and the winning formula proved such a hit that it led to multiple movies and a sequel series, And Just Like That.

While kung fu movies have cycled in and out of popularity, they have also created an influx of many great parody films of the genre. Kung fu and martial arts films saw a significant rise in favor in the 1980s and 1990s, with hundreds of movies produced then. Audiences appreciated the typically likable and underdog heroes, as well as the intense choreography and kung fu techniques featured in the movies. Many iconic kung fu film stars even practiced the martial art in real life, adding realness to their performances.
However, the stylized and well-known martial arts genre also provided lots of material for spoof films. Kung fu parody movies often focus on mocking any combination of the genre's stunts, filming style, language, and intense tone. These films also became quite popular, subverting a genre with which many had grown familiar. Even notable kung fu stars like Jackie Chan pivoted from...

After social media sleuths spotted a Criterion-branded van on the street, IndieWire can announce that the Criterion Closet is in fact going on the road.
Criterion has built a replica of their famous film closet inside an 18-foot delivery van and will be taking their Criterion Closet Picks show across the U.S., starting in New York City at the New York Film Festival on September 28 and 29, plus October 5 and 6. In the below video, Hader announces the national tour.
The road trip is in celebration of Criterion’s 40th anniversary. While Criterion launched in 1984, the Criterion Closet Picks video series began in 2010 when Guillermo del Toro first allowed the brand to film him choosing selections from the closet. In the 14 years since del Toro pioneered the concept, nearly 200 filmmakers have entered the closet,...

Lt. Commander Worf (Michael Dorn) committed a crime in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine that Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) was framed for in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Both Star Trek VI and DS9 after Worf joined in season 4 dealt with Klingons and their politics. The mid-24th century Klingon Empire under Chancellor Gowron (Robert O'Reilly) sought to reassert itself as a fearsome galactic power but, at the end of the 23rd century, the Klingons under Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner), sued for peace with the United Federation of Planets after suffering a catastrophe that threatened the Empire's existence.
Worf and Captain Kirk's issues with the Klingons are legendary in Star Trek. Captain James T. Kirk and the USS Enterprise faced down Klingons in Star Trek: The Original Series. But the murder of Admiral Kirk's son, David Marcus (Merritt Butrick), by Kruge (Christopher Lloyd) in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock...

She made her name as the devil-may-care Samantha in Sex and the City, but her new CIA audio series tells a different story of female empowerment. She talks about life on screen, being childfree and finding love at the BBC
‘This could only happen on the radio,” Kim Cattrall says, from her home in Vancouver Island, of her new series Central Intelligence. “It would be much too expensive any other way.” She can say that again; the BBC Radio 4 podcast, with this incongruously glittering cast – Ed Harris also stars – tells the true story of the CIA, from its haphazard beginnings in the wreckage of postwar Europe, to 9/11, to the present day. Cattrall narrates as Eloise Page, nicknamed the “Iron Butterfly”, who became the first female station chief in 1978, but had been embedded in the agency since 1947, before it even had the name. “It was a time when women were treated either as a mum,...

Alyson Hannigan starred in How I Met Your Mother for nine seasons and is ready for a new spinoff.
In a new interview, the American Pie alum revealed she had an idea for a reboot that would focus on Jason Segel’s character, Marshall Eriksen.
“It’s like, ‘No, no, no, no kids. That’s not how it happened,'” Hannigan told People. “And then it starts out with, ‘We were a lot older, first of all …’ and then we can just do the show again.”
Hannigan played Lily Aldrin, the character who eventually marries Segel’s Marshall. The CBS sitcom, which premiered in 2005, followed Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) as he tells his kids the story of how he met their mother. Bob Saget narrated the series throughout its run as older Ted.
