Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment has acquired the rights to Joseph Finder’s thriller “Judgment,” and plans to adapt the novel into a series, Variety has learned exclusively.

The novel centers on Juliana Brody, a formidable judge in the Superior Court of Massachusetts. After a one-night affair with a man she meets at a conference, Juliana quickly realizes she’s being blackmailed, and her night of infidelity was captured on video. As the terrifying conspiracy unfolds, it becomes clear that personal humiliation, even the possible destruction of her career, are the least of her concerns: and that turning the tables on her adversaries will require her to be as ruthless as they are.

Roven, who produced “The Dark Knight” and “Wonder Woman,” will executive produce the series alongside Atlas president Richard Suckle. Atlas’ Robert Amidon, who brought the project to the company, will serve as a producer. The company’s...

Hulu has canceled “The Path” after three seasons, the streaming service said Tuesday.

“While it’s sad that ‘The Path’ is ending, I’m brimming with gratitude and pride,” said series creator and showrunner Jessica Goldberg in a statement.

“It was a gift to be able to tell challenging and emotional stories for three seasons in this very strange and unique world,” she continued. “The caliber of talent and passion everyone who worked on this show brought — from my partners Jason Katims and Michelle Lee, the execs at Hulu, the writers, actors, directors, designers and crew — was something to behold, and for which I’m very thankful. Thanks Hulu and Universal Television for taking a shot on this show, it was a life changing experience.”

The series followed a family involved with a controversial cult that has been compared to Scientology.

The drama was produced by Jason Katims and Universal Television, which houses his True Jack Productions, starring Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Dancy, Kyle Allen, Emma Greenwell and Freida Pinto.

Goldberg has a pilot in the works at NBC titled “Suspicion,” a Hitchcockian thriller adapted from a book of the same name by Joseph Finder and directed by Brad Anderson.

Veteran actor Frank Whaley is set for a recurring role opposite Tony Danza and Josh Groban on The Good Cop, a straight-to-series dramedy crime procedural for Netflix. The project, inspired by a format from Israeli production company Yes, hails from Monk creator/executive producer Andy Breckman and director/executive producer Randy Zisk. In the corporate espionage thriller, Adam Cassidy is a pawn between two corporate bigwigs of opposing telecommunication companies.

The story is based off of Joseph Finder’s best-selling novel “Paranoia.” In this film, director Robert Luketic assembled a very good cast that comprised of Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Amber Heard and Liam Hemsworth as the lead character, Adam Cassidy.

Latino-Review sat down with Luketic for an exclusive interview on press day earlier this month. We talked a lot of about the current events with privacy laws, Internet oversharing and biometrics. There were also movie discussions about the cast, location and certain production challenges such as re-starting the film production of Hemsworth needed to work on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

Robert Luketic: I fell in love with the script.

"Paranoia," based on a novel by Joseph Finder, resembles the template for early John Grisham films or for Oliver Stone's "Wall Street," stories in which the young hungry guy who wants to make a name for himself falls under the scrutiny of an older mentor figure who then tempts them down the path of wrongdoing, ultimately leading to a moral crisis for the lead. As directed by Robert Luketic, "Paranoia" is professional in every way, but there's no pulse to it. It is entirely adequate, livened up only by a few supporting turns. Genre movies often get described as disposable, but something as paper-thin as Paranoia isn’t even sturdy enough to warrant such a dismissive description. Based on Joseph Finder’s 2004 novel, this corporate thriller radiates noir-ish style so innocuously that it barely registers. Heading into cinemas later this year is the thriller Paranoia, which is based on the really rather good novel by Joseph Finder.

The film adaptation has been directed by Robert Luketic (21, Red), and it's attracted a strong cast. There's a almost-hairless Harrison Ford, a very shouty Gary Oldman (those two back together on screen for the first time since Air Force One), a suitably bemused Amber Heard, and new action hero Liam Hemsworth.

The film seems to be complete, given that it apparently has a running time of 115 minutes, but it's not scheduled for Us cinema release until August. It doesn't seem to have appeared on UK release lists yet, but we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, here's the first trailer for it.

Exclusive: Jason Hall was marked an A-list screenwriter the moment DreamWorks and Warner Bros joined forces after Steven Spielberg agreed to direct Bradley Cooper in American Sniper, based on the life of Navy Seal Chris Kyle. Not surprisingly, both studios want more from Hall. Warner Bros has just closed a blind script deal with him, and I’ve learned that DreamWorks is in early talks to have Hall adapt the upcoming David Finkel book Thank You For Your Service, about the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder syndrome that is becoming a major issue for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s something Spielberg likes as a potential project down the line, though that is all early days. I sought out Hall because I find it instructive to see how a guy with one screen credit (2009′s Spread) and another coming (an adaption of the Joseph Finder novel Paranoia) gets white-hot so quickly.

Relativity Media has shifted a few of their 2013 releases around, moving Robert Luketic's thriller Paranoia , the adaptation of Joseph Finder's novel starring Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth and Gary Oldman, to August 16, and placing Scott Cooper's crime drama Out of the Furnace , starring Christian Bale, Casey Affleck and Zoe Saldana, into its original date of October 4.
