Gia Paloma was born Karen Christine Catanzaro on June 27, 1984 in Diamond Bar, California. Of Italian descent, Gia grew up in Walnut, California. Moreover, Paloma not only worked at a Starbucks coffeehouse, but also briefly attended California State University in Fullerton prior to dropping out and entering the porn industry in 2003 because she needed the money and wanted to get back at an ex-boyfriend. Among the notable companies and adult websites that Gia worked for are Kink.com, PayOnes, Adam & Eve, Devil's Film, Anal Army, Next Level, 3rd Degree, Pure Filth, Diabolic Video, and Extreme Associates (she was a contract performer with this latter company). Paloma directed her first hardcore feature in 2004 and had breast augmentation surgery in May, 2005. The mother of two children, Gia has since retired from the adult entertainment industry.
