Michael Patti is a composer, orchestrator and synthestrator of music
for film and games in Los Angeles, CA. His music is most often heard in
Hollywood motion picture advertising campaigns. In 2006, Michael
founded Cinesamples, an industry-leading developer of music software
instruments. These 'virtual' instruments are used daily by top
Hollywood composers, and have become an essential tool that allows
composers to focus on creating well-produced music and mockups, in less
time.
Michael Patti grew up in Massapequa, Long Island, NY. His musical training started at age 10, after seeing a Billy Joel concert on television. He studied piano and composition with Julliard trained composer and pianist Avraham Sternklar. As an undergrad at Hofstra University studying Computer Science, he made a living as a busy accompanist for musical theater, vocalists and classical musicians in the New York area. This was where his real training took place, and gained the ability to sight read and transpose any piece of music placed on the piano. An invaluable skill as a professional pianist which would aide him as a composer later down the road.
In 2000, Michael met and studied with Disney legend Norman "Buddy" Baker at an NYU film scoring seminar. Buddy encouraged Michael to move to Los Angeles and take part in the University of Southern California Film Scoring Program. He did in 2002.
Today, Michael is working diligently on Powerhouse Music Productions, which is slated for its first major orchestral album of music for motion picture advertising.
Michael lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife and three kids. He he enjoys boating, basketball and geeking out over the latest techno gadgets.
