You know Joe Biden is in trouble when Donald Trump is attacking his critics.
Trump is speaking out about George Clooney’s devastating New York Times op-ed which called on Biden to drop out of the presidential election — by criticizing Clooney.
“So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything?? He uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the Worst President in the history of the United States, has ‘saved our Democracy.’ No, Crooked Joe was the one who Weaponized Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating Inflation in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people...

Who had a “media feud between Joe Biden and George Clooney” on their July 2024 bingo card?
But that’s exactly what recent events have given us.
President Biden’s team reportedly clapped back at the iconic actor on Wednesday after Clooney’s scathing New York Times guest essay that pushed for the president to step down from his reelection campaign in the wake of serious widespread concerns about his mental fitness.
A Times congressional correspondent, Annie Karni, wrote on X that “Biden is fighting back on Clooney” and cited “a source familiar with event planning” as mocking the actor for his level of participation at a June 15 fundraiser that Clooney referenced in his op-ed.
“The President stayed for over three hours, while Clooney took a photo quickly and left,” the source said.

During the first 2024 debate last week, President Joe Biden looked fatigued, sounded hoarse, and failed to complete his thoughts several times. Halfway through the debate, NBC News reported that “sources familiar with the situation say ‘President Biden has a cold.’”
Since then, Biden, his campaign, and allies have offered a series of excuses for his performance — none of which explain what Americans witnessed that evening: an 81-year-old man visibly in decline.

CNN, facing an avalanche of criticism for letting false claims by Donald Trump go unchecked during Thursday night’s debate with President Biden, defended its decision to not intervene to correct misstatements live on-air.
In a statement to Variety, a CNN spokesperson said, “The role of the moderators is to present the candidates with questions that are important to American voters and to facilitate a debate, enabling candidates to make their case and challenge their opponent. It is up to the candidates to challenge one another in a debate.”
The CNN rep’s statement continued, “CNN offered robust fact-checking coverage in post-debate analysis on TV and across our digital platforms during and following the debate’s conclusion.”
According to CNN’s own analysis of the debate, Trump made more than 30 false claims during the debate, while Biden made at least nine false or misleading statements.

You can always tell who lost a presidential debate by which party is slamming the moderators afterwards. And in the wake of Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s first 2024 presidential debate, many progressives are focusing their fire on CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, calling out the duo for not fact-checking Trump in real time during the 90-minute face off.
Thursday’s clash featured a performance by President Joe Biden that many are calling disastrous for his reelection chances, with CNN’s own post-debate panelists suggesting the president should consider withdrawing from the race.
But Biden’s behavior also distracted viewers from Trump’s numerous untruths, such as falsely claiming (per The Guardian, The Washington Post and New Republic) that Dems support post-birth abortion, that he had “best environmental numbers ever,” that Nancy Pelosi declined an offer to deploy troops on Jan. 6 (that’s not her purview, for starters,...

The concern over President Joe Biden’s advanced age and cognitive abilities crystalized in the front half of the first presidential debate on Thursday, leading to panic among his supporters and several notable individuals to call for him to be replaced on the ticket.
Biden had multiple gaffes and stumbles as the debate began, trailing off at points and mixing up and missing words while completing his answers and replies to his opponent. This was sharply contrasted by Trump, who shouted about Biden’s perceived failures. While he got it together in the second half hour, the damage to Biden’s campaign was apparent.
Immediately after the debate, CNN reported that Biden’s incoherence was causing alarm bells to go off with top Democratic leaders who are now wondering what to do. The network’s chyron in the panelist’s post-debate analysis read: “Sources: Dems saying ‘we have a problem’ after Biden’s performance tonight.

MindGeek, the parent of Pornhub, the world’s biggest porn site, and other adult entertainment platforms was acquired by a Canadian private equity firm called Ethical Capital Partners, or Ecp, for an undisclosed amount.
Ecp launched in 2022 in Montreal. Its website says it’s good at dealing with problem companies, seeking out tech-focused investment and advisory opportunities “in industries that require principled ethical leadership…have legal and regulatory complexity and that put a value on transparency and accountability.”
Pornhub, founded in 2007, changed the world of adult entertainment. It has over 76 million monthly active registered members and over 130 million adults visit the site daily for “the best selection of award-winning performers, the most extensive collection of high-quality videos, and a safe, user-friendly experience for viewers,” the deal announcement says. It’s been plagued by scandal and is the subject of the Netflix documentary Money Shot: The Pornhub Story by Suzanne Hillinger,...

Don’t be put off by the unnecessarily crude name – Moneyshot: The Pornhub Story is a thought-provoking and tastefully created documentary. And even if you’re familiar with Pornhub’s recent controversies, it’ll almost certainly tell you something new.
For instance, it may seem counterintuitive that at its heart, MindGeek’s Pornhub is a pretty run-of-the-mill tech company, which former employee Noelle Perdue describes as “a hilariously boring office space”.
That makes it all the more remarkable that Pornhub has become such a controversial website that it deserves its own Netflix documentary, charting its meteoric rise, eventually becoming the world’s most popular porn site and changing the game for porn performers, and its subsequent explosive fall from grace, becoming the centre of an ongoing row where it is accused of profiting from the likes of child sex trafficking and revenge porn.

As one of the most well-known tube sites in the industry, to the degree that its opening music is a meme on TikTok, Pornhub has become a prime target for the religious right’s war on smut. Most recently, the website was subject to litigation filed by Ncose (the National Center on Sexual Exploitation), a right-wing organization formerly known as Morality in Media. The group also spearheaded a public relations campaign against Pornhub following a New York Times op-ed by writer Nicholas Kristof alleging the website was deluged with clips of sexual abuse,...

Pornography, as a visual medium, has long followed the lead of technology. First it was drawn by hand. Then it was photographed. Then it was shown in back rooms on 8mm one-reelers. Then it was shown in movie theaters. Then it moved to video cassettes and DVD. Then it arrived on the Internet. Then, in the age of Pornhub, it exploded on the Internet. That’s when porn-on-the-computer innovation became the all-porn-all-the-time revolution.
“Money Shot: The Pornhub Story,” a documentary that drops March 15 on Netflix, is not a movie about the cultural prominence or significance of porn in our time. Someone should really make that documentary; it’s a story that, like so much else about pornography, is totally out there yet hidden in the shadows. “Money Shot,” directed by Suzanne Hillinger and produced by Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, does touch on key aspects of how porn today is...

Portrait of the colossally successful pornography website dithers between its defenders and critics and doesn’t really tell us much
Documentaries about pornography are usually building to one of two different climactic conclusions: that porn is actually a hateful enabler of rape, or that porn is actually a sex-positive celebration of sensual pleasure. It seems to me that Suzanne Hillinger’s uncertain documentary about Pornhub isn’t exactly sure what its money shot should be.
Pornhub is the colossally successful porn site, owned by a Canadian company with the airily tech-bro name of MindGeek; for years it provided a lucrative and arguably enlightened outlet for adult content creators and models who were providing a consensual, legal service to paying customers, and who were thus able to get away from the sleazier and more exploitative side of studio-based porn and sex work. But a 2020 exposé by New York Times reporter Nicholas Kristof...

The question of what Woody Allen did or didn't do was first posed almost 30 years ago. It was just a question that almost no one wanted to think too much about. Since being accused in 1992 of sexually abusing his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow, he has directed 26 movies, all packed with major stars, and in 2012 he won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay (his third career win in that category). He was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes in 2014. A few weeks later, an essay by Dylan was published by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof on his Times blog. She described the stomach-churning account of the...

In “Allen v. Farrow,” the four-part docuseries that premiered on HBO Sunday night, documentarians Kirby Dick, Amy Ziering and Amy Herdy have tackled an especially daunting and divisive subject, even for them. The filmmakers behind the documentaries “The Hunting Ground,” “The Invisible War” and “On the Record,” have investigated Dylan Farrow’s 1992 allegations that her father, Woody Allen, sexually abused her when she was 7 years old.
Dylan Farrow’s harrowing accusations played out in court during the lead-up to the vicious custody battle between Allen and his ex-partner Mia Farrow — and every day, they were also splashed on the pages of the New York Post. Simultaneously, Allen’s then-newly revealed sexual relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, Farrow’s older daughter, ensured the tabloid press was fully engaged, something Allen weaponized against Mia Farrow, whom he painted as a manipulative hysteric. The charges made against Woody Allen by Dylan Farrow, his daughter, and Mia Farrow, her mother, have resonated throughout American culture for decades. But it took a while for them to really be heard.
That — the story of their finally being metabolized — makes for the narrative arc of “Allen v. Farrow,” a new documentary series on HBO premiering Feb. 21. Dylan Farrow’s 1992 allegation of childhood sexual assault, which she put into writing on journalist Nicholas Kristof’s blog in 2014, was treated as both serious and ancillary to the career of one of the leading American directors of his time. Previously, this accusation had been widely reported (never having resulted in a conviction for Allen) and existed as a free-floating association that alternately stuck or didn’t to Allen’s name. For many, they were part of the penumbra of oddity, along with his having married Mia Farrow’s daughter Soon-Yi Previn,...

Actress, author and humanitarian Ashley Judd is recuperating at a South African trauma unit after almost losing a leg in a “catastrophic” fall in a Congo rainforest.
In an Instagram Live chat with New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof – watch it below – Judd, speaking from her ICU bed, says she was walking in a Congo rainforest when she tripped over a fallen tree, shattering her leg. Howard Stern and SiriusXM have announced a new agreement under which the broadcaster will continue to produce and host The Howard Stern Show for SiriusXM for the next five years, and the Howard Stern archive of audio and video will continue to be licensed to SiriusXM for an additional seven years. Stern revealed the news on today’s broadcast.
Stern, who is 66, has grown on the air from the derogatory term “shock jock” into an influential and enlightened broadcaster who does superb interviews, whether he’s talking to politicians or entertainers, and takes stands on important issues from Covid 19, to Trump policies, racism, homophobia and sexism. I am curious about whether he will take on another issue, and a porn website I’ve heard him mention. That is Pornhub, which like another of his go-to sites, Youporn, is a pornography website. Charlize Theron is getting some of the best buzz of her career for channeling Megyn Kelly in “Bombshell,” but the Oscar-winning actress admits she almost turned down the role.
“I was shit scared,” Theron said during a question-and-answer session following a Manhattan screening of “Bombshell” on Sunday. Partly, she was worried about portraying someone who was “incredibly well known.” But Theron also recoiled from a newscaster who spent the bulk of her career on Fox News and who was fired from NBC for making racist comments.
“She’s conflicting,” Theron admitted. Moderator Alisyn Camerota pressed Theron, noting that she had portrayed serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2003’s “Monster.”
“This was harder,” said Theron. As a producer on the film, she admitted she wondered if “there’s somebody out there who can do this better than you can.”

Moonves is expected to exit CBS Monday, though whether he will be fired or be allowed to step down remains to be seen. Reports indicate he has been in negotiations for a severance package for the past several days, with some sources saying the amount could near $100 million.
The industry, which was already rocked by the first report in July, reacted with frustration and disgust, asserting that Moonves should not be allowed to receive a payout as part of his departure agreement.

Harvey Weinstein turned himself in today at New York’s Tribeca precinct near the home of his former The Weinstein Company and arrested on multiple sex crimes charges handed down by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
The news of Weinstein’s surrender, which was tipped Thursday, has been a moment of vindication and catharsis for the #MeToo movement and especially the more than 80 women who have come forward to accuse the Oscar-winning producer of alleged sexual harassment and abuse over the decades.
Here are reactions coming in already from Hollywood and beyond as the NYPD says Weinstein was formally arrested, processed and charged with rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct for incidents involving two separate women.
Keep refreshing for more:

On Thursday, New York Times op-ed columnist Nicholas Kristof published a piece titled “We’re Journalists, Mr. Trump, Not the Enemy.” Many on Twitter quickly tried to make the writer eat those first two words. “Sad when they now have to convince people of that,” one commenter tweeted. While another snarked: “really bad comedians at best.” Here’s Kristof’s lede, or what “we journalists” call an article’s opening paragraph: “Sigh. Monday night's presidential debate left many Americans most conflicted not about whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton prevailed, but about the effectiveness of moderator Lester Holt, who was relatively silent throughout the political face-off. Although Holt interrupted the candidates at times to fact-check their statements and remind them of their time limits, he also allowed their heated discussions of policy and values to go largely unchaperoned. While some debate viewers took to social media to praise the NBC anchor for staying out of the spotlight, others wondered why he abstained from cutting off Clinton and Trump more often. And those viewers vented through memes.
