Joe Lam is an award-winning Producer/Director and Owner of Shining Light Pictures, founded in 2006. Before starting his own company, he worked at Paramount Pictures, Herzog Productions, and Skyline TV working his way up from Intern to Producer in a few short years. Under Shining Light Pictures, he's worked on numerous Narrative Films, Documentaries, and Music Videos. He recently directed his first feature documentary "The Hospital Cure: Transforming Health Care in Rural America". His latest short film, Fugitive Zero, is based on a Feature Screenplay that won "Best Thriller" at Los Angeles Film Awards, 2019.
He's won numerous awards including Special Jury Prize for his thesis film, "Blood Ties" at the Academy of Art Film Festival, 2003; Best Director and Best Documentary for his documentary "Project TRIUMPH" at American Int'l Film Festival, 2010; and Best Romantic Comedy for the short film "Our Story" at Top Shorts Film Festival, 2019.
Joe graduated from the Academy of Art University with a BFA in Motion Pictures in 2003.
