James founded Featuristic Films with his business partner Julien Loeffler in 2017. He is a partner and producer at the company and in his capacity as Head of Development he oversees and curates everything on the Film, TV and Doc slate .
He originally trained vocationally in acting & musical theatre, graduating in 2004. James performed across the UK in a diversity of leading roles including George in Of Mice and Men (UK Tour), John Proctor in The Crucible (Tour), one man show Fever Pitch based on Nick Hornby's best selling book (two No1 UK tours), he was Offie nominated for his Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls "Finally a Nathan Detroit who can sing" (Mark Shenton - The Stage) and originated many roles including Soldier in Our Ajax by Timberlake Wertenbaker (Our Country) at the Southwark Playhouse. He was chosen from thousands of actors to be part of the final 30 in the Old Vic New Voices 24 hour plays, where he made his West End debut, and went on to be a part of the ensemble in Sir Peter Hall's Pygmalion starring Michelle Dockery and Tim Pigott Smith at the same theatre.
He later moved into writing, directing and producing for the stage, founding award winning theatre company Bruised Sky Productions, named as such, after the classic quote from Uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths) in Withnail & I - "Come on lads, let's get home. The sky's beginning to bruise, night must fall and we shall be forced to camp.". Here they produced multiple plays including new stage work from David Scinto the Oscar nominated writer of Sexy Beast.
James then moved into film and television, firstly as an actor in such shows such as Chernobyl (HBO), Doctor Who (BBC), Cucumber (Ch4) and films such as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Dir: Tim Burton) before moving into writing, directing and producing with music promos and short films which laid the foundation for his debut feature, mental health drama, Hi-Lo Joe (2017), his sophomore follow up, action/thriller Knuckledust (2020) and free running feature documentary Art of the Jump (2025).
James is a family man who lives on the Kent coast with his wife, two young daughters and dog, Hudson.
