The Vampire Diaries is one of the best and most iconic teen drama fantasy series and it captured the hearts and minds of its audience for over eight years during its eight-season run. Scripted by Tate Hanyok (Sex Appeal), the film’s logline is as follows: While a recently divorced couple navigates new life and love apart, the arrangement in their “Pet-Nup” forces them to extremes as they fight for custody of the one thing in their life that can’t be split in two: their dog.

Exclusive: HarbourView Equity Partners, the investment company that bought into Charles D. King’s Macro last year, is putting more money into the film and television business.

The company, which was founded by Sherrese Clarke Soares, has invested in LatinX-focused company Mucho Mas Media.

This comes ahead of the release of Mucho Mas’ film The Long Game, which earned the SXSW Narrative Spotlight Audience Award in 2023.

Clarke Soares has been added as an exec producer of the film, which was directed by Julio Quintana and opens in theaters nationwide on April 12.

Financial details were not disclosed but HarbourView joins Texas-based real estate investment and venture capital firm Barshop Venture and the family office of NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson and Henry Cisneros as investors.

Mucho Mas Media includes two companies: Inclusion Management, a talent management business representing diverse film and TV creators and CHiSPA Comics, producing Latino-focused comic books for global comic book fans.

Described as a “high concept horror film,” the upcoming Rosario unveiled an intriguing first look image that sees a woman seemingly tormented by the corpse of her grandmother.

As if that’s not eye-catching enough, Rosario stars Emeraude Toubia (Freeform’s hit TV series “Shadowhunters,” Amazon’s “With Love”), David Dastmalchian (Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, Late Night with the Devil) and José Zúñiga (Catherine Hardwicke’s blockbuster Twilight, Sony Pictures’ The Dark Tower)

Originally created by Aaron Mark as a one-woman play, “Empanada Loca,” Mark created, wrote, and directed the original podcast and penned the pilot script for “The Horror of Dolores Roach.” The series followed the titular character (played by Justina Machado), “who returns to a gentrified Washington Heights, where she reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis, who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. A few days after AFM wrapped in Santa Monica, the dearth of substantial deals trickling in is pointing to a weakened film sales market which is grappling with structural changes and the reverberations of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Global industry players came into the AFM with reasonable hopes of dealmaking after a quiet Toronto festival, even if many packages were held back due to the strike. Yet, the main talking point of this AFM came down to the dysfunctional logistics of the event which was held for the first time at the Meridien Delfina hotel instead of the beachfront Loews.

“The logistics of AFM were more noisy than the actual market of AFM,” admits Scott Shooman, who was named head of film earlier this year at AMC Networks, a portfolio that encompasses IFC Films, Rlje Films and the streaming service Shudder.

Levi plays Nick Schuyler, who goes on a fishing trip with friends Will Bleakley and NFL American Football players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith only to become stranded when their boat capsizes in a storm 70 miles off the coast of Florida, triggering a US Coast Guard rescue operation.

When season two of Gloria Calderón Kellett's "With Love" series dropped on Amazon Prime earlier this month, with it came many juicy romance storylines. While the show does a beautiful job of portraying the joy within Latine love stories, there's still drama. This season explores the complexities that can come when two people love each other but don't necessarily want the same things.

Take the complicated love triangle between Lily Diaz (played by Emeraude Toubia), Nick Zhao (Desmond Chiam), and Santiago Zayas (Rome Flynn). We witness Lily being pursued by two love interests, unsure of who she ultimately wants to be with.

Lily and Santiago couldn't be more opposite, especially when it comes to their views on relationships. But for the longest time, they thought their love for each other was enough to overcome their incompatibilities.

Josh Duhamel will join the ensemble of the survival thriller “Not Without Hope,” an adaptation of Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman’s best-selling book that will be written and directed by Joe Carnahan. Also joining the cast are JoBeth Williams, Quentin Plair, Terrence Terrell and Marshall Cook.

As previously announced, Zachary Levi (“Shazam!”) is starring in the film, which tells the real-life story of a tragic 2009 boating accident involving Schuyler, his friends Will Bleakley (Cook) and NFL players Marquis Cooper (Plair) and Corey Smith (Terrell). Levi will play Schuyler.

The search-and rescue-operation captivated national attention. Duhamel will portray U.S. Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close, who oversaw a crew that cut through the ocean to try to find the friends who went missing. Carnahan has some experience orchestrating survival tales, having previously directed “The Grey,” which found Liam Neeson battling very hungry wolves after a plane crash stranded his character in a snowy mountain range.

West directs and produces the feature, which was written by Greg Johnson (The Son) and recently wrapped in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where it was filmed on location, with support from Northern Ireland Screen. Highland Film Group is co-financing the action comedy and handling worldwide rights.

Old Guy follows aging contract killer Danny Dolinski (Waltz), who still believes he’s the best at what he does. Stuck at a dead end but vying for the love of club manager Anata (Liu), Danny is thrilled when The Company pulls him back into the field, but only to train Gen Z newcomer Wihlborg (Hoffman), a prodigy assassin with an attitude.

Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die, Game Night, Bridge of Spies) is set to make his feature directorial debut with the survival thriller The Ridge.

Magnussen will also star in the film alongside Lamorne Morris (Fargo, Woke), Chace Crawford (The Boys, Gossip Girl) and Jordan Firstman (You People, Rotting in the Sun). Produced by Mandalay Pictures (Ben Affleck’s Air), Highland Film Group is launching international sales at Cannes.

Written by Mike Anderson, John Clavier and Will Lowell, from a story by Magnussen, Anderson and Clavier, The Ridge follows Dez (Morris), a sensitive city dweller who travels to Wyoming with his friends (Crawford and Firstman) to meet his fiancé’s brother — and true outdoorsman — Grady (Magnussen). When Grady puts Dez to the test, it sets the two men at odds with one another, and they engage in an explosive feud that causes their truck to crash and tumble from a ridge.

With Love is returning next month for its second season, and Prime Video has now released a trailer and new key art teasing the return of the romantic drama. Season two will have six episodes.

The dramedy follows Lily and Jorge Diaz as they struggle with their love lives, and they have some help with their family along the way. Rising star Emeraude Toubia from Freeform’s series Shadowhunters and Amazon Studios rom-com series With Love is set to star in the high-concept horror Rosario, which Highland Film Group represents for worldwide sales and will introduce to Cannes buyers.

Emeraude Toubia is set to star in the high-concept horror film “Rosario,” the debut feature of director Felipe Vargas, who will shoot the pic in his native country of Colombia.

Toubia, whose credits include the Freeform fantasy series “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments” and Gloria Calderón Kellett’s new Amazon Studios series “With Love,” stars as Rosario, a successful Wall Street broker forced to confront an unthinkable and otherworldly evil.

When her estranged grandmother suddenly dies, Rosario has to spend the night with the body while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Trapped in the apartment by a heavy snowstorm and surrounded by unfriendly neighbors, Rosario is attacked by menacing supernatural forces that have possessed her grandmother’s corpse.

The target of a deadly family curse that spans generations, Rosario must battle everything she knows about her past to save herself and her soul in a desperate attempt to break the evil.

The Atx TV Festival has added additional programming for this year’s festival, taking place June 1-4 in Austin, Texas.

New programming announced Thursday includes a conversation between Tiny Beautiful Things creator, showrunner and executive producer Liz Tigelaar and author and executive producer Cheryl Strayed discussing collaborating on the adaptation and bringing the limited series to life.

Whitney Cummings and Betsy Brandt will moderate a panel with Accused showrunner and executive producer Howard Gordon where they will discuss adapting the series and the show’s explorations of ordinary people navigating extraordinary situations.

Tony Gilroy of Disney+’s Andor will join writer Beau Willimon for a conversation about the series’ first season. “Cruel Summer” and “Grown-ish” return to Freeform as part of their summer roster along with a brand-new animated comedy series “Praise Petey,” the network announced Monday. “Cruel Summer” returns with Season 2 and “Grown-ish” will be kicking off its sixth and final season with a two-part release.
