Daniel Zealand is a Los Angeles-based 1st Assistant Director. He is a 25-year veteran in the film industry. Having started in the industry as a Tape Operator and Dubber, he quickly advanced to the role of Telecine Assist, and then Telecine Colorist. He worked on titles such as "The Shield", "West Wing", "Just Shoot Me", as well as a multitude of commercials and music videos. He then transitioned to production work, which led him to his current role as a 1st Assistant Director, where he has utilized his skills on a variety of commercials, music videos, and small-budget features. In addition to all of this, Daniel is also co-owner of LZ Droneworks, an up-and-coming aerial cinematography company.
Daniel was born in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico. He is fully bilingual, which is an asset working in Los Angeles. He is of Scottish and Mexican descent
When he is not on set, Daniel enjoys traveling both domestically and internationally with his wife Jen Zealand (who is a Commercial Production Coordinator). His pastimes include still photography, astronomy, music, and playing bass guitar in his band which is comprised of other industry professionals.
