Actors transforming into famous figures for biopics isn’t exactly a new phenomenon. In recent years, we’ve seen Marisa Abela’s Amy Winehouse in Back To Black, Kingsley Ben-Adir’s Bob Marley in One Love, Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein in Maestro, and Sebastian Stan’s Donald J. Trump in The Apprentice. But just when the market for such movies may have been running the risk of getting overcrowded, along comes Waltzing With Brando to make us an offer we can’t refuse. That offer? Titanic actor Billy Zane going absolutely all-in to play Marlon Brando in a comedy about The Godfather legend’s efforts to create a sustainable pocket of paradise on a tiny Tahitian island. If it sounds barmy, then that's nothing compared to how it looks — just check out the extraordinary trailer for Bill Fishman’s film below:

Actress Marisa Abela has experienced growing success over the past few years, thanks in large part to her breakout role on the hit HBO series “Industry” and her acclaimed performance as Amy Winehouse in the biopic “Back to Black.” In a recent interview, Abela opened up about her experiences on both projects and where her career is headed next.
Abela plays Yasmin Kara-Hanani, a privileged yet vulnerable young banker, on “Industry.” Now in its third season, the show details the intense competition between graduates vying for slots at a top London investment bank. Abela remarked that her character and the overall scope of the show’s storytelling has expanded significantly as the series has progressed. “As [Yasmin] has gotten stronger in asserting herself, there are parts of me that have done the same,” she noted.
The actress also spent months in extensive preparation to portray the late singer Amy Winehouse in “Back to Black.

Industry has been one of the most successful TV dramas of the past three years, with audiences flocking to the high-octane depiction of young recruits to Pierpont investment bank wrestling with their consciences as they try to further their financial careers.
Season 3 of the HBO/BBC drama is currently airing in the UK, with a fourth season already commissioned. Creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, who worked in the financial sector before turning to screenwriting, focus on three recruits: Harper (Myha’la), Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Robert (Harry Lawtey).
The BBC reports that Down and Kay have revealed they deliberately write about characters within that world who have the least amount of power, and particularly for Harper, a young American black woman working in London, with sympathy.
Down says there are “different ceilings for everyone” – and that your background, race and gender can “have a huge bearing on how successful you can be.

After filming three seasons of Industry, Marisa Abela said she’s “more careful now about what it is that’s being seen” when it comes to her frequent sex scenes.
The actress, who plays Yasmin in the popular HBO banking drama, recently told The Times of London that while she likes that her character is comfortable with her sexuality, she’s personally learned to speak up regarding what she’s comfortable with when filming intimate scenes.

Industry actor Marisa Abela says she’s feels ready to question the implications of her frequent sex scenes in the hit show.
The British actor plays publishing heiress turned financial analyst Yasmin in the BBC/HBO drama about young traders working in an investment bank, and has been involved in some of the show’s most revealing sex scenes.
Abela told The Times of London newspaper:

The nudity aspect is not something that I minded in season one or two — it was like, ‘If it’s in my contract, I’ll do it.’ It was part of Yasmin and part of the fact that she was so comfortable with herself and she’s very free. And it didn’t have a lot of emotional weight for me.

As heartbreaking as the Season 3 finale of “Industry” may have been for fans seeking a Yasmin and Robert romance, Marisa Abela sees her character’s ending as “inevitable.”
“The way that Myha’la as Harper makes the most cutthroat choice in terms of the industry and what she’s preparing to do, Yasmin makes the most cutthroat choice in terms of her own life,” Abela told TheWrap of her character.
After building up a will-they, won’t-they between Yasmin and Robert for three seasons, the friends finally have sex in “Infinite Largesse.” Yet minutes after their tryst in the countryside, Yasmin goes back to Lumi CEO Henry Muck (Kit Harington) and accepts his proposal. It’s a decision that ultimately comes down to two different forms of security for Yasmin. Does she go with the man she loves, or the man whose wealth and reputation will allow the publicly disgraced Yasmin to re-enter high society?...

Industry Season 3 has entered the market after a premiere in HBO’s coveted Sunday slot on August 11. The investment banking and trading show has added two heavy hitters to its ensemble this season with Game of Thrones alum Kit Harrington bringing a green energy company CEO and Founder into the mix while Barry alum Sarah Goldberg plays an ethical investment fund portfolio manager.
Of course, Harper (Myha’la), Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), Eric (Ken Leung) and more are up to their usual shenanigans in the intense pressure-cooker environment of finance. While mostly focused on the Season 3 cast of the Max series, former big players from past seasons are also featured, though they will not be returning.

Last week HBO announced it was picking up “Industry” for a fourth season, but it would be a mistake to assume co-creators Konrad Kay and Mickey Down wrote the Season 3 finale with next season in mind.
“We want the finale to act as a satisfying conclusion if the show was to never come back,” said Down when he was guest with Kay on IndieWire’s Toolkit podcast. “It doesn’t have to be satisfying in that everything in the story is wrapped up, but it has to be emotionally satisfying.”
While on the podcast, Kay and Down said they took this same approach to the Season 2 finale, in which they were determined to not leave Harper’s ((Myha’la) secret (a lack-of-a-diploma) an unfinished storyline, resulting in the surprising conclusion of her being fired. It was a plot point that Kay and Down admit they only later realized, when they sat...

Sixty-two minutes into the Season Three finale of Industry, you might have mistakenly thought it was safe to exhale. HBO’s notoriously tense finance drama, which revolves around the exploits of employees at the fictional investment bank Pierpoint & Co., was giving us a rare moment of resolution for its key players: Crisis-ridden nepo baby Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) got engaged to aristocrat Henry Muck (Kit Harington). College dropout Harper Stern (Myha’la) was having a #GirlBoss moment in Forbes magazine. Even so-called sad boy Rob Spearing (Harry Lawtey) was getting a fresh start in Silicon Valley.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Industry Season 3 finale.] Season 3 of Industry is undeniably Yasmin Kara-Hanani’s (Marisa Abela) season. While the series has previously focused on Harper Stern (Myha’la), Yasmin’s life and the mysterious disappearance of her father, Charles Hanani (Adam Levy), has been this season’s central focus. We see her being hounded by paparazzi and long cuts to a flashback sequence on a boat. Finally, in Episode 6, it was revealed Charles jumped off the yacht in front of Yasmin, who stood there immobilized. The boat continued on, and slowly, her father’s cries for help disappeared beneath the ocean’s waves. Yasmin’s choice of letting her father die has been the main crux of her emotional collapse this season, which comes to a head in Episode 8. However, with the season finale, she makes the push not to be absolved of her sins but rather bury them for good. She does this by ...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains plot details for “Infinite Largesse,” the Season 3 finale of HBO’s “Industry.”
It’s a good thing HBO announced the renewal of “Industry” for a fourth season before Sunday’s finale, because fans might otherwise fear the episode marked the end of the series. After Season 2 culminated in antiheroine Harper Stern (Myha’la) getting fired from the bank Pierpoint & Co., initially the focal point of “Industry,” Season 3 completes the fracturing of the show’s core characters. Publishing heiress Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) lost her job at Pierpoint earlier in the season; now, she’s exited finance altogether, embracing her destiny as the socialite bride-to-be of aristocrat Henry Muck (Kit Harington). Working-class hero Robert (Harry Lawtey) has jumped ship for a psilocybin startup, with a trendy new haircut to match.
Most jarringly of all, Pierpoint itself is effectively no more. After overexposing itself in so-called ethical investing,...

In the Season 3 finale, Lord Norton (Andrew Havill) subtly offers Yasmin (Marisa Abela) a lifeline, a way out from the nightmare her life has become in the wake of her infamous father’s scandalous downfall and death.
“I am fiercely protective of my family, and I always use my not insubstantial power to protect them,” Norton says. “But then again, life is about the family you choose.”
It’s a loaded line in an incredibly written, staged, and acted scene. The Rupert Murdoch-like figure, who wields immense power through his tabloid newspaper, is willing to end the public humiliation and shield Yasmin from substantial economic threats if she is willing to get back together with his wayward nephew Henry Muck (Kit Harrington) and help him get his life back on track.
But it’s that last part, about “the family you choose,” that appears to throw Yasmin for a loop.

It’s a new dawn and day, and betrayal is heavy in the air after Industry Season 3 Episode 7.
The season’s penultimate installment threw everything at us, leaving fates hanging in the balance, significant changes on the horizon, and kept the foot on the gas.
The financial game is purely savage, but so is the game of life.
(Nick Strasburg/HBO) When the Future is Always Uncertain, it Ups the Stakes
We’ve already rejoiced over the news that Industry will return with a fourth season.
But with a series like this that always stays on the fringes of mainstream, even in this critically acclaimed third season, it’s no surprise that the powers-that-be write like the ax could drop at any moment.
If the season has done nothing, it has pushed Industry to the absolute limit, leaving it without barriers or safety nets.

We've made it to the penultimate episode of HBO's Industry season 3 and finally, Pierpoint must come to terms with its new reality. Close to having to declare bankruptcy, the board comes together to think fast in an attempt to save the company. Elsewhere, Yasmin gets bad news while Harper flies a little too close to the sun. We're inching closer to what's bound to be an eventful season finale, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
Warning: Major spoilers for Industry season 3 episode 7, "Useful Idiot," are below.
Just like Sweetpea theorized, Pierpoint has no money and the majority of the episode shows us how the board responds. Eric proves he's still willing to screw anyone over to end up on top, even he's closest mentor. Yikes.
Pierpoint needs help

Marisa Abela is not well, bitch. Not just because the third season of her hit HBO series “Industry” is averaging 1.6 million cross-platform viewers per episode and was recently renewed for a fourth season, but also because one of the show’s fans happens to be a TV personality she’s a fan of herself. In a recent interview with The Cut, Abela revealed the “Real Housewife” who reached out over social media to show her support and some other sources of entertainment for when she’s not lighting up screens big and small.

So far, the drama is averaging 1.6 million viewers per an episode, which marks a 40% viewership increase compared to Season 2. Viewership for the series over these past five weeks has ranked among the drama’s top five weeks ever. Additionally, social conversations around the series were two times higher than last season and have grown by double digits each week.
This bump may have been impacted by the new Sunday night time slot for “Industry” or the intense push the network gave “Industry” during the final season of “Succession” last year.

It’s an often-touted cliche that a great way to win an Oscar is for a performer to portray a real-life person. Cillian Murphy won Best Actor earlier this year for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in “Oppenheimer,” Jessica Chastain took home Best Actress in 2022 for her portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” and Rami Malek won Best Actor in 2019 for his depiction of Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
It’s curious, then, that Best Actress has often been rewarded to performers playing fictional characters rather than real people. Over the past decade, 28 of the 50 nominations have been for original turns, with a whopping seven of those winning out of 10. Here’s the complete breakdown.
Two out of 2024’s Best Actress nominees were nominated for playing fictional people. The others were Annette Bening (“Nyad”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), and Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”). However,...

[Editor’s note: This story contains spoilers for “Industry” Season 3, Episode 6, “Nikki Beach, or: So Many Ways to Lose.”]
It is the most dramatic and arguably most consequential moment in the three seasons of HBO‘s “Industry.” During a heated argument with his daughter Yasmin (Marisa Abela), the disgraced book publisher Charles Hanani (Adam Levy) leaps from his yacht into the Mediterranean. His daughter decides not throw the buoy and save him, instead confiding in her friend Harper (Myha’la) to cover her tracks.
To shoot the pivotal Episode 6 scene, director Isabella Eklöf cleared the deck, leaving only four crew members on set, and shuttling between above-and-below deck herself to give the actors space. According to Eklöf, the two key moments of decision — Charles to jump, Yasmin not throwing the buoy– were surprisingly easy for both Abela and Levy to find dramatically, only requiring three takes of each.
After the father-daughter unload, saying the most brutal and brutally honest things imaginable to one another,...
