Hailing from Ohio, Amy Geist is a Producer, Director, Writer, Actor and Founder of Beloved Root. She started in Los Angeles as a freelance commercial Producer and Production Manager working with such clients as Lenovo (*Telly Award Winning), Disney, Sebastian, Motorola, Marvel, Milani, Bosch, Braun, and Delonghi.
Her feature film and television work includes Blade Runner 2049 (Alcon Entertainment *Academy Award Winning), Little (Universal), The Exorcist (Fox), Alex Inc (ABC), Trees of Peace (Netflix), Bar Fight (IFC Films), #FBF (Mar Vista Entertainment), and Everything's Fine (Powderkeg Media).
She produced a series of five short films for Powderkeg Media, a company launched by Paul Feig and Laura Fischer. In 2023, one of the films, Help Me Understand, premiered at Sundance and another film, Upside Down, premiered at Tribeca.
In 2018, she wrote and produced the short film The Way You Saw Me, which screened at twelve film festivals and won Runner-Up for Best Narrative Short at Denver Underground Film Festival and Bronze Film Award for Narrative Dramatic Short at WorldFest Houston.
In 2020 Amy won the grand prize for the Shockfest Quarantine Competition with the short horror film Enjoy Your Stay which she wrote, directed, shot, and produced entirely in her home with only her phone and her partner.
In 2021 Amy won Best Horror Screenplay with Dysmorphia at LA Crime & Horror Film Festival and the Independent Horror Movie Awards.
At the beginning of 2023 her film Dysmorphia premiered at Hollywood ShortsFest where it won the Grand Jury Award. Dysmorphia was then screened at the Toronto Feedback Female Film Festival where it won Best Cinematography. Dysmorphia also won Best Horror Film at the LA Independent Women Film Awards.
When she isn't making movies, you can spot her in the mountains with her partner and their dog or playing sixties rock covers on her guitar. She's also been known to collage. Read trashy novels. Wear overalls. And play Yoshi's Island on her (very) dusty Super Nintendo. She holds a B.F.A from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio.
