We're a little over two months away from the anticipated premiere of Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix, and ahead of its release, creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough are teasing a darker turn for our favorite spooky girl. Debuting in 2022, Wednesday puts the focus on star Jenna Ortega as she embodies the character made famous by Charles Addams. Sent to study at Nevermore Academy, she becomes embroiled in a murder mystery that sees her put her inherited psychic abilities to good use.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Millar and Gough teased a number of things to come in Wednesday Season 2, not the least of which is the series leaning into its horror elements. One of the major complaints about the first season was that it skewed too heavily toward a teen romance, and while there might be a little of that this year, Millar says there will be more moments that make...

While Wednesday Season 2 doesn't hit Netflix until later this year, the creators are providing insight into what fans can expect ahead of the sophomore season. In a summer preview with Entertainment Weekly, fans got to hear about the tonal shift ahead and got a look at Season 2. In the pictures, Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams is examining an eyeball, likely real because that's just who Wednesday is, and in another we get an interesting look at Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán). The pair is dressed in a way unlike fans typically see them, with Morticia dressed more like Wednesday than herself.
Wednesday creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough dished on the changes coming to Season 2 with Millar saying in part:
"Season 2 definitely has some moments which are more straightforward horror, and we're very aware that the show is watched by everybody in terms of the age groups.

The Addams Family will fully assemble for Wednesday Season 2 in all their ghoulishly loving ways. Netflix dropped a new sneak peek for the upcoming installment in which the cast and showrunners, Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, discussed the first season's "global phenomenon" status and how they intend to top it.
According to Gough, this meant shifting some focus to the core Addams dynamic. "There really isn't a lot of Addams Family lore, so we wanted to delve deeper into the family," he said in the clip shared by Netflix. Millar went on to reveal that the scope of Season 2 "has expanded in terms of the character arcs, and it's really fun to see them explore a lot more of Nevermore."
Accompanying Season 2 clips revealed an extensive focus on Gomez, Morticia, Lurch, an older Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and even the debut of Wednesday's Grandmama, played by Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley.

Denise Gough plays Dedra Meero in the Star Wars series Andor. A woman dedicated to the Empire and rising up its ranks, Dedra's fate was a lesson for those who uphold fascism. She is left in an Imperial cell alone, there because she tried to get to Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) and prove herself to her superiors. All of this happened after Dedra lost her love when Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) is shot by a blaster during the Ghorman Massacre. And in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gough spoke about what happened in the year since Syril's death and what she really thinks about Dedra's final moments.
Syril's death happens when he finally finds Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). He's moments away from killing Cassian himself, but then Carro Rylanz (Richard Sammel) comes to Cassian's aid. When asked about Dedra's response in the year between Episodes 9 and 10, Gough says that his death "ruins her.

Wednesday is set to return to Netflix this summer for Season 2 of Tim Burton’s visionary reworking of The Addams Family, and this time there is more family time than ever for Jenna Ortega’s character. Now, as part of their 2025 Upfronts presentation, Netflix has teased audiences with a new look at the family ahead of an expected new trailer at the upcoming Tudum event next month.
It has been a long three years since Wednesday dropped its first season on Netflix and immediately became one of the streamer’s biggest hits ever. Can Season 2 follow its predecessor? With a huge returning cast, and plenty of new additions, there is no reason to think that the summer’s double-drop release will not be another huge success for Netflix – and that can only mean a bright future for the dark family.

[This story contains spoilers through Andor season two’s eighth episode.]
In Andor’s season two premiere, Denise Gough’s Dedra Meero is paid a very specific compliment by Orson Krennic. Ben Mendelsohn’s Imperial Director recognized that the highly determined Isb Supervisor could foresee the future, particularly the pitfalls of his plan to seize the planet Ghorman through a propaganda campaign. Dedra then raised the added idea of cultivating a local radical insurgency, so that the Empire could ultimately use brute force to eliminate their manufactured “terrorist” threat and strip-mine the planet of its kalkite mineral to help fuel their forthcoming Death Star.
In the second chapter of creator Tony Gilroy’s first three-episode block, Dedra issues a plea to her superior, Major Partagaz (Anton Lesser), to keep her on the trail of Axis (Stellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Rael) instead of the secretive Ghorman assignment. But Partagaz quickly shuts her down out of respect...

Dedra Meero has been a compelling Andor character since she first appeared on screen in the series premiere. Her motives have always been clear -- though her means of getting what she wants have only become more interesting as the show has gone on. Why, we asked, would she actually let a man like Syril into her life? We might finally have some answers.
Denise Gough, who portrays Dedra in the show, spoke about her preparation for Season 2 in the latest installment of Star Wars' "Andor: Declassified" video series. She revealed that studying one aspect of real-world psychology put Dedra's behavior in perspective, leading up to filming the series' final season.
“I did a lot of research on female psychopathy," the actor said. "Apparently, females who are psychopaths are less likely to murder because they’re more likely to enlist people to do it for them. Which makes sense to me,...

Andor's second season has everyone talking, with many citing it as one of the best Star Wars shows of all time, and the two-and-a-half-year wait now seems worth every second. One of the show's best aspects is its killer cast, with the franchise known for not always nailing their ensembles, and Andor a perfect example of this process completed with aplomb. With that in mind, many might be inspired to look to their favorite Andor stars and take a peek into the rest of their catalog. One such star is Denise Gough, known for her no-nonsense portrayal of Imperial supervisor, Dedra Meero. Right now, not only is Gough dazzling in Andor's second outing, but she is also an integral part of a brand-new British thriller streaming on Hulu: The Stolen Girl.

Truth be told, love is a luxury in a galaxy far, far away. And in Andor Season 2, it becomes scarcer still, thanks to the ruthless ways of the Galactic Empire. Sure, it’s easy to root for Bix and Cassian’s romance because who wouldn’t want a feel-good connection to side with the Rebels?
But Season 2 delivers a love story that’s captivating precisely because it’s born in the heart of darkness. A lot of us were looking forward to it. Tony Gilroy finally did end up pairing two of the show’s most terrifying Imperial loyalists into a twisted, yet strangely compelling narrative. Yes, Syril Karn and Dedra Meero are officially a couple in Season 2. They live together in a cushy Coruscant high-rise, no less. And we just can’t get enough of it.

Andor creator Tony Gilroy has achieved landmark success in the Star Wars series, though not everyone saw his genius at first. After using the famous franchise to weave a harrowing story about war and fascism, Gilroy decided to pair two unlikely characters together -- Syril (Kyle Soller) and Dedra (Denise Gough). The two had a contentious beginning in their relationship, but eventually found love in the hopeless place that is the Empire. This controversial decision to get the two characters together was of great concern, particularly for the actor who plays Dedra, Denise Gough.
“Denise said to me during the first season, 'Oh my God, do not put them together,'” Gilroy told Entertainment Weekly. “‘Do not do that. That's the one thing I'm asking you.' And I'm like, ‘I don't think I'm going to answer that.’” Gough’s worst fears were realized, but perhaps not how she intended.

We are heading in the right direction after it's been confirmed that Wednesday Season 2 will finally arrive this summer. The first season of the show, which starred Jenna Ortega as the titular character, Wednesday Addams, was a brilliant success for Netflix, and the hopes are that momentum will spread into the sophomore season. While solving a mystery in Season 1, Wednesday was also ingrained in a love triangle as well. So what does Season 2 hold? "Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore," the show’s creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, revealed to Good Housekeeping.
The show's latest trailer points in the direction of a "darker" season to come, but it also previews the arrival of Joanna Lumley, who plays Hester Frump, mother of Catherine Zeta-Jones's Morticia Addams and Wednesday's grandmother.

When Tony Gilroy decided that each block of “Andor” Season 2 episodes would take place a year apart, he knew those blocks had to cover “the most intense three days” of each given year. That started with the wedding, the “defining clock” for Episodes 1-3.

Of course, this isn't a new ship, as many keen-eyed fans picked up on the hints in Season 1 that the two Imperial loyalists were headed toward a relationship when the series returned. After all, Dedra started to see Syril with new eyes after his white knight moment in the Season 1 finale, when he saved her from the Ferrixian rebels. Updated with the latest: Wednesday’s sophomore season has become the latest to get the two-part release treatment from Netflix.
After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for a second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered. It eventually became the most-watched original series ever on the streamer, with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things Season 4, Dahmer, and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.
Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

It wouldn’t be “Scary Movie” without the Wayans brothers.
When Jonathan Glickman took over as head of Miramax a year ago, the studio was struggling to reboot the franchise. Glickman knew that a successful relaunch required one essential ingredient — the involvement of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans, the siblings who gave those popular comedies their subversive spark.
“You need to have some connective tissue with the original property,” Glickman says. “It gives legitimacy to a project so it doesn’t seem like just a cash grab.”
But getting the Wayanses wasn’t easy. The brothers believed that Harvey and Bob Weinstein, the bullying, bare-knuckle and (in the case of Harvey) disgraced founders of Miramax, had given them a “crappy” deal on the first film in the series, released in 2000, then “stole” their idea. By the time the third, fourth and fifth “Scary Movie” hit theaters, the Wayanses were no longer involved.

A lot happens in the first three episodes of Season 2 of “Andor.” But if Disney+ is looking for a new multicam sitcom, they could do a whole lot worse than the home life of Isb officer Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) and imperial bureaucrat Syril Karn (Kyle Soller), set up in a big apartment on the capital planet of Coruscant where the furious, repressed vibe between them is just as stark as the white walls.
The dinner the couple throws for Syril’s mother Eedy (the majestic Kathryn Hunter) in Episode 3 stands as a counterpoint to the Chandrilan wedding ceremony Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) puts on for her daughter Leida (Bronte Carmichael) — the former is small and soulless in contrast to the ancient rites and conspicuous display of the latter. But this is one of the few glimpses that “Star Wars” has ever given us of Imperials out of uniform, and...

‘Andor’ Season 2 is drawing quite a bit of praise. See what the critics are saying before the season premiere. ‘
Disney+ has had its share of hits and misses in the Star Wars universe. For every well-regarded series like “Ahsoka,” there’s a show like “The Acolyte” that fans don’t take to for one reason or another. All in all, it’s been a fairly up-and-down experience, to put it mildly.

Imperial Agent Dedra Meero and Syril Karn will have a complex continuation of their romance, which sparked at the end of season 1 of Andor. Played by Irish actress Denise Gough, the Imperial agent's relationship with Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) comes at the cost of her loyalty to the Empire.
The two Dark Side minions met during the first season as they pursued Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and other associated rebels, leading the two toward a romantic entanglement - though one that may already be doomed. Gough spoke to Deadline at the second season premiere and provided insight into the couple's budding romance, saying, “There are things that she has to do this season for the Empire that means she has to sacrifice any possibility that she can have a healthy normal relationship.”
Dedra and Karn are loyalists to Palpatine’s Galactic Empire, meeting during her investigation into a rebel heist on Aldhani.

Diego Luna has finished filming his final season as Cassian Andor. Speaking at the Andor Season 2 premiere in Los Angeles, the actor reflected on what it meant to leave the role he’s played since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in 2016.
“I said goodbye to this character when we wrapped,” Luna said. “I had a beautiful opportunity to talk to the crew, to talk to the cast. [Creator] Tony Gilroy gave these beautiful words, we had a drink, we hugged, we cried. I’m going to miss this family.”
Set to premiere April 22 on Disney+, the second season picks up a year after the uprising on Ferrix. Cassian is now working directly with Luthen Rael. According to Luna, the character is no longer uncertain about his role. “He’s working for Luthen’s team and he’s been quite successful. He’s been given a lot of responsibilities now, so...

Fans haven't given up hope for the Smallville sequel series, even if that project isn't part of the Dcu lineup. New concept art teased what that Elseworlds story could look like.
Smallville broke new ground for superhero TV shows by focusing on young Clark Kent's story arcs, hooking fans with an engaging teen drama. There's still clamor for a continuation almost 14 years after the series ended, and the cast is also pushing for a spinoff. User @buffy2ville's joined the bandwagon with concept art on Instagram, which featured different iterations of Tom Welling as Superman. One post even imagined an epic battle featuring Welling (as Kal-El), Laura Vandervoort (Kara Zor-El), and James Marsters (Brainiac); it's a compelling pitch for an Elseworlds Superman.

Now that Alan Ritchson has given fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels a book-accurate version of the ex-military policeman, the actor's career has really taken off. Playing the hulking protagonist of Prime Video's "Reacher" has catapulted Ritchson to a level of fame that he had seemingly been chasing for some time. The man was 40 years old when he fronted the first season of the popular series in 2022, and while he had been working fairly consistently prior to that, "Reacher" was such a hit that Ritchson suddenly found himself on his way to becoming a household name.
Once his streaming series took off, the 6-foot 3-inch star brought his Jack Reacher muscle to the role of Agency head Aimes in "Fast X," and will soon appear opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in a Christmas comedy. Meanwhile, "Reacher" season 3 is breaking streaming records for Prime Video, cementing Ritchson's status as a bonafide star.

Smallville star Aaron Ashmore has been reflecting on his departure from the popular The CW series, and how he is still a little put out by how his role of “Jimmy” Olsen was flipped on the show.
Ashmore appeared with his former costar, Michael Rosenbaum, on the Inside of You podcast, and naturally talk turned to their time on Smallville. Addressing the way his character was shockingly killed off in the show, the actor also recalled finding out that he wasn’t playing Jimmy Olsen as he originally believed. He said:
“I don't know... Literally, what they told me, was that because this wasn't the actual Superman timeline, this canon that we all know, it's slightly different. 'You can't be Jimmy Olsen because it's too young. Clark needs to be older,' all this sort of stuff. So at first, I was bummed, because I've been doing all these interviews for three years.

When Wednesday Season 1 hit Netflix screens back in 2022, it turned into Netflix’s most popular English-language TV series. The Al Gough and Miles Millar take on the old Addams Family series spent 20 weeks on the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries with 252.10 million views. At the same time, it won 4 Primetime Emmys and had 20 wins and 59 nominations in total.
And it was not only the fact that it was based on an all-time soft horror favorite, but had a great plot, a stellar cast and its first four episodes were directed by one of the masters of the other side of reality, Tim Burton, who is also the executive producer of the series.
So it was no surprise that Season 2 was in the making, and recently its release has been set to hit the screens this year (2025).

Those holding out hope for the animated "Smallville" sequel series may want to temper expectations. The CW's Superman prequel series aired for 10 seasons from 2001 to 2011, giving us Tom Welling's journey as Clark Kent to the hero he was destined to become. We also got to know Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor along the way. Both actors were expected to return for a proposed sequel series, but unfortunately, it sounds like it's not going to happen any time soon.

Back in 2021, Smallville star Tom Welling revealed that he was working on an animated continuation of the CW series with co-star Michael Rosenbaum during a Cameo video which was later shared on social media.
"Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life, and use as many of the original cast members as possible," said the actor in his message. "Don't tell anybody, though. It's a secret, we're still working on it."
Welling did reprise the role of Clark Kent for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, but it was a very brief appearance and he didn't actually suit-up as Superman. Fans have been hoping for some kind of follow-up that would also feature Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor ever since the show ended back in 2011, and this animated sequel series would likely have been the closest we'd get to a revival.

Co-creator Alfred Gough says his animated follow-up to “Smallville” will have to wait until Warner Bros. is finished with James Gunn’s “Superman.”
“Warners has obviously gone through a lot, and I think the fact that they are in the process of rebooting ‘Superman’ again, kind of unfortunately, I think, keeps our thing off the table for a bit,” Gough told “Smallville” stars Michael Rosenbaum and Tom Welling on their “Talk Ville” podcast. “Everything comes around in one form or another, I just read the other day that they are rebooting ‘Buffy’ for Hulu.”
Co-created by Gough and Miles Millar, “Smallville” ran for 217 episodes across 10 seasons on the CW. The show followed a teenage Clark Kent (Welling) learning to harness his superpowers for good in the quaint town of Smallville, Kan.
Gough went on to add that another wrinkle in the “Smallville” sequel series could be the “regime change” that happened over at Warner Bros.

The much-talked-about animated sequel to ‘Smallville’ isn’t moving forward anytime soon. Work on the project has stalled, and it seems the big shake-ups at Warner Bros. and DC Studios are to blame. With new leadership in place, the focus has shifted, leaving this fan-favorite idea on hold for now.
Alfred Gough, who co-created ‘Smallville’ with Miles Millar, dropped some insight during a chat on the Talk Ville Podcast, hosted by stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum. He pointed out that studios often hit roadblocks when leadership changes, and Warner Bros. is no exception. They’ve been through a lot lately, especially with plans to reboot Superman yet again.

Nearly 15 years after the Superman origin story ended, Smallville fans will have to wait a little longer for a potential animated continuation.
With David Corenswet making his Man of Steel debut in the new Dcu‘s Superman, premiering July 11, Smallville co-creator Alfred Gough recently explained that James Gunn and Peter Safran‘s tenure as DC Studios co-ceos has taken his project “off the table for a bit.”
“That is the thing, I think the problem with most projects in development in any studio and/or any network is regime change,” he said on Smallville stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum‘s Talk Ville podcast.
“Warners has obviously gone through a lot, and I think the fact that they are in the process of rebooting Superman again, kind of unfortunately, I think, keeps our thing off the table for a bit,” added Gough, who developed the series with Miles Millar. “Everything...

An animated Smallville revival has long been in the works by Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum — but one of the show's co-creators recently shared his thoughts on why the project has yet to really get its feet off the ground.
On the most recent episode of Welling and Rosenbaum's Talk Ville Podcast, one of Smallville's original showrunners, Al Gough, joined to discuss Season 6, Episode 6: 'Subterranean'. When the discussion turned to the development of the planned Smallville animated spin-off, Gough gave his opinion on what's been holding up the series, saying, "I think the problem with most projects in development in any studio and/or any network is regime change. Fans hoping to see the long-awaited return ofSmallville might be waiting a little longer than they hoped. In 2021, it was announced that Smallville stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum, who played Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, respectively, were looking to do a Smallville continuation in the form of an animated series. While the duo did pitch the series to Warner Bros. in January 2022, there has been no word on it since. The latest update will be disappointing for fans of the early 2000s superhero series.
On the latest episode of Welling and Rosenbaum's Talk Ville Podcast, the duo were joined by Smallville's co-creator Al Gough, who weighed in on what is holding up the Smallville continuation. It seems the answer is what everyone would expect: James Gunn's Superman. The focus for Warner Bros. and DC is on the new Superman movie, and any other Superman-related projects are of secondary concern at the moment.

Superman has been adapted countless times across various media, from animated series to live-action shows and blockbuster films. Among these, Smallville remains a standout—a live-action TV series that aired from 2002 to 2011, concluding after an impressive 10-season run.
For many fans, Smallville delivered the definitive portrayal of a young Superman, brought to life by Tom Welling, alongside Michael Rosenbaum’s iconic take on Lex Luthor.
Now, almost 14 years after the series finale, Rosenbaum and the show’s original creators haven’t been idle. For the past few years, they have been developing an animated revival, a direct sequel to Smallville. In a recent update, Rosenbaum reassured fans that the project is still in development, with all the right people on board. However, they are waiting for the perfect moment to pitch it to Warner Bros.

However, things have been very slow in the development phase for the potential Smallville sequel.

Lady Gaga has teased her role in the highly anticipated second season of Wednesday while promoting her newest album, Mayhem. Excitement for Season 2 grew as rumors began circulating last year that the famous singer and actress had been cast for an undisclosed role. In an interview with EW, she said:
"I don't want to give away anything about being part of the show. I want to keep it extra secret — but, I love Jenna [Ortega], and I really had an amazing time!"
It's pitch-perfect casting with Lady Gaga joining the cast of Netflix's popular Addams Family TV spinoff, which stars Ortega as Wednesday Addams. The show debuted in November 2022 and became an instant hit. It follows the titular character as she attends Nevermore Academy and works on mastering her psychic abilities, all while solving a mystery involving her parents. The eight-episode first season won multiple awards, including four Primetime Emmys.
