Hayes Grier, an internet personality and former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant, was arrested Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina, after authorities say he violently assaulted a man on Monday and stole his cellphone.

According to public documents, the 21-year-old Grier (né Benjamin Grier) was detained Friday afternoon in Charlotte before being released overnight after posting a $17,500 bond.

Grier faces three separate charges: felony conspiracy, common law robbery and assault causing serious bodily injury. Authorities say the victim of the assault, William Markolf, suffered serious injuries, including brain damage.

The 21-year-old Grier found fame alongside his older brother, Nash Grier, on the now-defunct video-sharing platform Vine circa 2013. He’s amassed over 880,000 YouTube subscribers and 5.6 million Instagram followers.

In 2015, Grier became the youngest male contestant to compete on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” The then-15-year-old finished in eighth place on the show’s 21st season.

Stitchers follows a group of operatives who enter the memories of recently deceased people in order to solve the mysteries related to those people’s deaths. In her role, Akana will portray a medical examiner who joins the show’s main team and, according to Deadline, “has an instant spark with Camille,” the character portrayed by Allison Scagliotti.

Dante Basco, the actor who played Rufio in Steven Spielberg’s Peter Pan sequel Hook, is Kickstarting a fan-fic film that tells the backstory of his character, who serves as the leader of The Lost Boys. In addition to Basco, the writer/director Jonah Feingold -- who collaborated with Nash Grier on a YouTube series titled Confessions Of A Teenage Cupid last year -- is set to helm the project, which is called Bangarang.

The short film will follow 13-year-old Roofus, according to its Kickstarter page, with a pre-Neverland story that has been reverse engineered from Hook -- including how Rufio became the leader of the Lost Boys, where ‘bangarang’ -- a battle cry of sorts -- comes from, and how he got his famed mohawk.

The newest series on the Fullscreen subscription video on-demand (Svod) service is something a little different. It’s called The Deleted, it serves as the directorial debut of American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis, and it features social media stars like Nash Grier and Amanda Cerny.

The Deleted, which was announced alongside the Fullscreen Svod service back in April, is Easton Ellis’ latest attempt to offer a satirical comment on vice and youth culture. Postmodernist author Bret Easton Ellis, perhaps best known for his cult-favorite novel American Psycho, announced his directorial debut in April -- a series titled The Deleted that will premiere exclusively on Fullscreen’s recently unveiled streaming video on-demand service.

And now, in a video posted to Fullscreen’s Twitter account yesterday (below), Vine heartthrob Nash Grier announced he is set to star in the series. “I’ve never been so excited to be in a project,” Grier says, before turning the camera on Ellis, who is standing behind him with a scowl. “Look at this guy. Vine star Hayes Grier has been hospitalized following a car accident on Thursday, People confirms. Thanks to his standout status in the six-second video world, Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor has begun to extend his star power across multiple platforms. As he moves into film and TV project, however, he is still very active on Vine, YouTube, and other digital platforms. In order to bulk up that part of his personal brand, Bach has signed a deal with Collab, an influencer network best known for its partnerships with Vine stars.

Through the deal, Collab will be in charge of rights management, brand partnerships, and original programming for Bach’s suite of digital channels. Awesomeness Films has added some serious social star wattage to its previously announced feature, You Get Me, a thriller starring tween queens Bella Thorne and Halston Sage.

Anna Akana and Nash Grier have joined the film -- which is about two women competing for the same man, resulting in a dangerous obsession -- bringing the combined social reach of the project’s stars to 52 million fans, according to Awesomeness Films. Rounding out the cast are the actresses Garcelle Beauvais and Jennifer Esposito.

“Their talent, coupled with [director] Brent Bonacorso’s stylized vision, will create the kind of psychological thriller that will resonate with this generation,” Awesomeness Films president Matt Kaplan said in a statement.

After putting together dozens of shows in the United States, DigiTour Media is bringing its social media-powered acts to Latin America. The event producer has announced The Wave, its first tour in Central and South America, with Vine star Nash Grier serving as the primary headliner.

The Wave will begin May 11th in Santiago, Chile and will run through a May 22nd show in Monterrey, Mexico. Indie film distributor GoDigital announced the promotion of Nick Soares to CEO at the Sundance Film Festival this week.

GoDigital, a Los Angeles-based film distributor specializing in tailored digital and day-and-date releases for quality independent and festival-driven content, also announced the appointment of Kevin Iwashina as Vice Chairman of the Board. Soares was formerly serving as CEO of GoDigital subsidiary Distribber.com, a service that has released thousands of independent films on major digital platforms.

Resurrection of Jake the Snake, directed by Steve Yu, is the most recent release from the company. The title is currently topping the charts on the iTunes documentary section. Why does it never fail to water our eyes when Vin Diesel honors Paul Walker? He did it again last night at the People's Choice Awards, when giving a lengthy acceptance speech for "Furious 7," which won two awards. Vin name dropped the late actor, whom he has called his brother, and at the end of the speech he sang a verse from the film's end song, "See You Again."

Vine star Cameron Dallas has some new representation. The 21-year-old digital celebrity has signed with talent management firm Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Deadline reported on the Brillstein-Dallas signing, but didn’t disclose more information about what the digital star’s representation would entail. Regardless, Brillstein has added a highly influential client to its talent roster. Dallas originally rose to fame on the Twitter-owned, short-form video platform Vine, where the social media force of nature currently boasts 8.8 million followers.
