Matthew Sears(I)
- Actor
Matthew Sears is an up and comer with several television credits, a plethora of independent films and a couple commercials along the way.
Though he was bit by the bug early, watching his uncle and Canadian Icon, Dave Foley, at an all to inappropriate age, he did't find his path till much later through a series of unlikely circumstances. (Ask him sometime.)
As a Toronto, ON native he started his training there with such great coaches as David Rotenberg at The Professional Actors Lab and Lewis Baumander at LB Acting Studio. He also worked on his chops studying improv and sketch writing at The Second City. When the opportunity arose to take a chance out west in the great Hollywood North, he packed up for Vancouver. He continued training with recognized coaches Jeb Beach at JBA, Benjamin Ratner at Haven Studios, Deb Powdowski at Austin-Tuck Studios and Andrew McIlroy at McIlroy & Associates, while not losing his quirky side, doing improv at Vancouver Theatre Sports.
One of his favourite roles was as the lead, Lee Whalstrom is the bizarre dark comedy "Goddamn Sensitive Man", which was an official selection of the 2017 Toronto Short Film Festival as well as Scumdance Film Festival in Reno.
When he is not auditioning he is likely writing or playing in his voice-over booth . Or like a true Canadian trying to find the time to get his stick on the ice. Matthew is looking forward to growing his career and his craft in his new home of Vancouver and working with all the wonderful talent it has to offer on both sides of the camera.
