Belonging to a freedom fighter's family, Sanjeev K Jha is the grandson of Ramesh Chandra Jha, a rebel of '1942 Quit India Movement', also an eminent poet and novelist of his times. A native of a small village in Champaran, Bihar, Sanjeev is a gold medalist from Jamia Millia Islamia in Literature.
He started his career from Delhi as a freelance journalist and worked with Indian Express, Jansatta, Hindustan Times (HT Group) and Outlook. From 2009, he started making short films and documentaries for British Council and Discovery. He has made his first short film, "Acharya" (The Professor) starring Pankaj Tripathi, based on a short story by Uday Prakash.
His writing has appeared in Bhagya Vidhata (Colors), "Pyar Tune Kya Kiya" (T.V. series On Zee Tv's Zing Channel, Produced by Vikas Gupta), "Code Red" (T.V. series On Colors, Produced by Vikas Gupta) and "Crime Patrol"(for Sony Channel).
Sanjeev's first Hindi feature,"Jabariya Jodi" (Released in Aug. 2019) is produced by Ekta Kapoor & Shailesh R. Singh, starring Siddharth Malhota and Parineeti Chopda. He has also written ZEE5's acclaimed and celebrated Digital Film "Barot House" (Aug 2019), starring Amit Sadh & Manjari Fadnis.
Apart from these Hindi language films and series, Sanjeev has also written Marathi feature film 'Sumi' (2021), which won 68th National Awards in two Pan-India categories- Best Children Film & Best Child Artists.
