I just watched WW84 and enjoyed it. I don't know why this movie is dumped on by so many reviewers. A lot of the criticism is valid but it remains an entertaining movie.
You can easily appreciate it for what it is. It is light, entertaining and just popcorn movie. It has a good message and meaning underneath but doesn't want to be heavy or complicated. Yes, it has it's cheesy and silly moments but after all, it is a movie about the 80s - and a certain cheesy and unrefined quality is something that defines this period.
I found the acting quite good overall. The CG is a bit disappointing because it looks too much like CG an can take you out of the experience now and then. The fights are mostly cheesy - however I liked the cheetah fights a lot and they show very well what both characters are about: a more refined and controlled Wonder Woman vs a ferocious and uncontrolled enemy. The characters are sometimes a bit simplistic but the film establishes their motivation very well in my opinion and makes them relatable. The whole thing has okay writing which in these days is really very good and deals with the overall theme of the movie maybe not surprisingly but smart and skillfully.
The whole film is much more focused than the first movie which dealt with far too many element. This one is much simpler. Although it develops a bit slow at first this is for the better in my opinion. You will enjoy this movie if you are a fan of the 80s for sure. If you need it to have deep emotional character acting or overly drawn out CGI fights you will find it lacking though. What takes away from the movie is that the trailer gives away just too much. The whole thing would have been one or two stars more enjoyable without seeing any trailer.
