Direction - direction with no definite vision....Execution of the film is totally based on delusions of grandeur.
Screenplay adaptation - it fails to become an explorer's journey with thrill & suspence. It fails to become typical B grade monster movies with chase, plastic gore...like anaconda & Jaws...which were 100 times nore entertaining. It fails to become an action , adventured pack fantasy....into which the audience can actually immerse themselves.
It succedes to become a complete mockery of itself...as the housefull audience was actually laughing at many scenes...people were laughing at it's pretentiousness & superficial theme park like experience ( from point A to B of the map) ...and at the themepark like obstacles that has been cheaply catered.
Acting - Dev isn't the only who ruined the film.David James who played Marco Florian & Svetlana Gulakova as Anna Florian also contributed in ruining the film.... David James with his hyperactive, restless, histrionic personality & maniac laughs....Dev with his expressionless monotony....and with their collective ultra fake accents.
Dialogues - No dialogues to some poorly writen one...as kids when plays with "dollhouse" or "pirates" converses with more realistic manner...in more accurate ways...with more convictions. It doesn't matter wheather it's multilingual film...stupid & cheesy dialogues writen/translated in/into any language would sound stupid & cheesy. "Ana my darling daughter...(histrionic expression)...haahaa(maniac laughs of David James)...ohh..my dear daughter..haahaa(maniac laughs again)".
Cinematography , Vfx - amazing locations, good cinematography...with very back dated CGI ( though I can understand the budget of a bengali film)...but repeatative use of those lame CGI action sequence contributed more or less nothing into the storyline. So the movie became just "Props with out a Play".
Production - To make a big budget film like these you need courageous production company...who can make this crap of a movie with confidence (arrogance)....and then can sell everything with created hype. As It seems the production has recovered the money they've invested...with all these multilingual, star casting , christmass release... They should spend more with movies with content (good story line).... where audience will not be dissapointed as such as this.
I'd conclude by saying this....that this isn't a movie for Dev fans...this isn't a movie for fans who love watching hollywood action, adventure fantasy....This isn't a movie for cinephile like us who loves watching world movies....This only can be a Home Video for Kamaleshwar Mukherjee.

Movie is worst than a Clear grade movie. I think this idiots who make such movies by spending crores of rupees much first see the movie and then release it. I feel I wanted to make the director and actor make them watch 10 times thisovie and they will commit suicide themselves. Worst movie ever watched

The quality of CGI looks very poor, a very childish acting or overacting (not natural) by the major characters. Waste of time.

To all those who have a problem with the release of Padmavati, you need to chill - if we can allow something as historically, geographically and technically inaccurate as Amazon Obhijaan to release peacefully, you too can learn to be tolerant.
Amazon Obhijaan is hands down one of the worst films I have seen this year. I'm not going to hold back here, it was terrible. There is absolutely no redeeming factor for this film. I refuse to understand why filmmakers continue to cast Dev, because, let's face it, we cannot allow this kind of terrible dialogue delivery into our lives. This film was multilingual in places, yet nobody can speak even one language correctly. And whoever wrote the dialogues, you need to stop using those quotes fuelled by morality - "We all need to look at the past to look at future", "Alcohol is the choice of (sic) defeated man" - because you are a TERRIBLE writer to have even committed sacrilege with what is probably an 11 year old's Moral Science textbook. The CGI was so bad - I don't think a 40 feet anaconda crawling through the grass is supposed to incite laughter in the audience. This is a period film with zero attention to detail about the period it is talking about. The acting would have been more suitable in a stage production. There is no SUBTLETY in any aspect of this film, my God. The El Dorado myth has been chopped into pieces like some sort of mixed salad, and the piece of gold they show in the end? Yeah, I have craft paper in that texture. There was honestly no reason to make this film.
Anybody who found this to be good cinema - you're entitled to your own opinions, certainly, but you need to experience some real cinema. I'm sure a large section of the audience will enjoy it and all, and people are calling it a 'milestone' in Bengali cinema - but I've seen some brilliant Bengali films this year, and this was not it. Not even with all the sparkle - nope, there was no gold.
I am sure Pizarro, Orellana and Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay are regretful of having provided the basis for this story.

Amazon Obhijaan,The Sequel To the Path breaking Movie "Chander Pahar"Gets Destinction marks at almost every category.Every Bengali must feel proud about this Visually Perfect Movie. The Director Surely Deserves a standing Ovation for providing such a Beautiful Visual Extravaganza.ne cannot blink For a Second as the visuals are so eye soothing. The Camera Work of The film is very Brilliant.Dev has reprised The role of Shankar,to perfection.David James has also done his job well, but still his acting seems slightly as a drama one.The debutant Svetlana has done her job well. The weak link of this movie is VFX,which is evident while seeing different animals..Otherwise The Movie is quite Classy.DOP,Editing,Cinematography,Art Direction All works are brilliant.Wishing all the Cast and Crew My Love for Providing Such a Brilliant Film.Kudos...

Have gone through the last part of the movie. I've to edit my review later after rewatching it. But why there are too many 1 & 2 star ratings I don't know!
Anaconda killing scene was a little bit funny.

Totally wasted my time.... Poor acting and storytelling no destination at all... Stop making these kind of silly adventure movies. It could be better if cast is different specially the lead actor who played the role of a "Wood" in the movie

Bad script, bad acting, complete non sense.
Director used El doredo as if they were his grandmother
You would not find anything good even if you search with microscope
Very poor acting. The dialogues were incoherent. Very weak story with no real basis. Unreal subjects are portrayed in a way that doesn't feel like a movie at all. The graphics were very low quality. The fight scene with the anaconda snake was completely flawed. And most of the animals were fake. In order to portray such a vast area as the Amazon jungle, some real animal scenes were essential which were not seen at all. The tribal communities shown did not seem tribal at all. VFX, graphics should have paid more attention to them. Movie scenes could have been done better. The performances of the three main characters in the movie were completely lifeless. The scenery was also artificial.

Novice direction, graphics comparable to Shaktiman tele series which ran on TV 10 years ago but the worst of it all was watching Dev trying to play his character. The guy has no acting skills and probably didn't bother to take any acting lessons in his life. The supporting cast tries their best to give him strong competition in childish emoting and dialog delivery. Only thing real in this fest of fake accents, fake characters, fake graphics and fake acting is your hard earned money wasted on this garbage of a movie.
Gone are the golden days of Bengali cinema. These incompetent movie cast and support crew have taken the responsibility to ruin our childhood classics and make a quick buck while at it.

The movie is almost laughable, no wonder why Indian Bengalee got doomed and overtaken by Bollywood, Tollywood, Hollywood.

It wasn't that bad . Considering the budget , it was a good movie . Well it's better than a lot of movies we see today . Sure the acting wasn't great and the graphics weren't that Good either , but I could watch through the whole movie which I can't for a lot of Bollywood movies today . I gave it a 9 to increase its rating as its rating should be above 6.

I do not understand how some people have rated it 8/10 stars!
The last movie from the franchise was a much better effort . I completely agree that the novel although written so long back was so illustrious that it would have been a very tough task to do justice to it!
But then why try such movies and make a laughing stock of yourself! Every CGI looked childish and all animals in the movie seemed like from a cartoon movie--Bengali films still do not have that kind of budget that they can spend on such gala CGIs. Obviously the result was childish --the scene where a snake was on the hero's body seemed to just pass through him!
And dont let me start on the pumas and the anaconda!
ACting was pure trash! Dev has improved a lot recently but here he again threw off hsi towel! The foreign male actor, David, I assume, however should win a prize for over acting!

Great effort svf..i can assure everyone will appreciate the hard work shown by the bengali team and the brave decision taken by them to go and shoot in amazon...Though cgi can give pain in ur ass..if you are a tech freak..but the visuals are stunning..Now coming to the cinematography..saumik halder is undoubtedly one of most talented cinematographers in this country at this very moment..Amazon Obhijaan is based on a real story -the Amazon expedition of Theodore Roosevelt and Candido Rondon. Not only was the journey along the uncharted territory(Terra incognit) challenging ,the living condition grew extreme..Dont make your expectations too high..This is the best you can have with 20 crore budget..wont be a waste of money..After all bengali industry did something out of box..We can atlast expect more from this industry next time..
This movie is really a mind blowing movie. The adventure with Shankar was awesome. I can say it's full of thrilling. The direction was too good. and the screenplay was perfect. An amazing movie to watch for multiple time.

Just mind blowing. It fully deserves the crown of the best adventure film of India of all time. Great film from the great franchise. Just like the previous film, (Chander Pahar) Amazon Obhijaan was a fantastic film to watch.
Really must have to appreciate the three leading actors of the film. Dev portrayed the character of Shankar perfectly, nice job by David James. And undoubtedly Svetlana Gulakova was the best actor of the film. She was gorgeous and flawless throughout the film. The way she adopted the Bengali language it was terrific despite being a Russian.
I should have give 8/10 but by looking at the budget of the film, and the emotion of BANGALI culture maybe it deserves a 10.
HONEST REVIEW CHANDER PAHAR 9/10 AMAZON OBHIJAAN 8.5/10
FRANCHISE REVIEW 9.2/10
THANK YOU FROM BANGLADESH

This Movie is amazing to me. I enjoyed every moment of the film. You don't need a big budget to win the hearts of the audience, only if the story is good, the audience will rush to watch the film. An Industry hit Film by Dev. Worldwide Box Office Collection 50+ Cores.
