Some good platforming and enjoyable puzzles. But where Little Nightmares really shines is its genuinely disturbing atmosphere and heart-racing moments.
I was only left wanting more after 3.5 hours.

The game is pretty incredible: the ambience, the character that we follow and his darkness side, the horrific vilains all along the adventure are pretty well made and scare us. I enjoyed it very much. The game have his own identity. The gameplay and the puzzles are well integrated. This game is creepy but very go ood i recommend it!

The narration is done amazingly, with no dialouge or cutscenes it is able to make you understand the main point of the story but also leave you with lots of burning cuestions
The atmosphere of the game is stunning and it can give you goosebumps without needing to use jumpscares.
Only downside is the fact that it can be glitchy sometimes but it usually isn't anything important like an itam glitching and wobbling like crazy or a monster's AI glitching but they don't affect the overall gameplay and can sometimes lead to funny moments.

Nothing more to say honestly, this game's atmosphere spoke all the words it needed to make me buy this game. Fantastic game, highly recommended.

So Sweden made a good game...good for them.
I enjoyed playing this game and I look forward to when I have the resources to play again.
I've already played it several times, it has great replay potential just because it's so compact and perfectly formed but yet also packed details that whole channels could run on trying to explore the theories and lore it has created for itself.
But I want to talk about the exoteric game now. There is a fairytale quality to this as opposed to the realism that a lot of horror games would use, but it is much more effective as we are plunged into a strange, dark, wordless world where you have only your wits as a weapon.
The atmosphere is palpable as I kept expecting things to appear out of nowhere all the time and my heart was pound as I desperately ran and hid more than a couple of times. Yes, a lot of it gains its power from the unseen but what we do see just likes fantastic (that is to say: traumatizing). It is tense but upon replays oddly cosy.
My only negatives are some frustrating puzzles (but I guess not being too easy is a nicer problem to have?) and I think they show at least one of their enemies too early.
I thought this was going to literally be about nightmares. I generally think that word is too on-the-nose to use in a horror title but looking into the lore, it may just be justified.
But the design, both in settings and sound, are really impeccable.
Can we talk about the protagonist, Six? How vulnerable does she look in that hadaka raincoat? No weapons except a lighter (which does literally nothing but provide light and light candles) and an unbreakable will. Good she is just this tiny little thing navigating places where there are many places to hide (thank goodness).
I think I could award this game the prize both for most nope-tastic enemy as well as cutest protagonist. Pretty easy Halloween Costume....
The secret narrative that they are obliquely telling really feels in there some where. A story of redemption and inner darkness. But it loses nothing from not being clear and probably never will. Until the sequel probably...
And I thought the only really good games were from America and Eastern Europe.
I think this will really become a cult classic or better.

I have been a huge fan of the 'Playdead' games like 'Limbo' and 'Inside'. I love puzzles, platformers and good horror games.
This game is all of the above and looks absolutely stunning while doing it! I originally downloaded a demo out of curiosity, but within around 10 minutes of playing I immediately purchased the full game.
I'm so glad I did. The art style is incredible, the puzzles don't feel regurgitated from every other platform-puzzler and the slew of sinister characters is completely captivating.
I love this game and would recommend to anyone who loves 2.5D puzzle platforms.

LITTLE NIGHTMARES (2017) was an epic, fantastic game. While it is a side scrolling platform puzzle game with definite horror themes, it contains elements of dark fantasy as well. Before my first playthrough, I honestly had no idea how much it'd thrill me and unnerve me. It isn't quite a horror game in the traditional sense, although it does contain shadows, monsters and other things that go bump in the dark. And it can certainly be scary.
You play a young girl named Six who wakes up and soon tries to break out from her state of captivity in a mysterious location. So begins a dark path through the creepy, grotesque and macabre. Elements of the game invoke industrialism and modern technology while others hint at alternative fairy tales and the surreal. In a way, it is like a real child's nightmare, dreary, haunting and atmospheric--sometimes subtle and other times outright monstrous. There is so much suspense and subtlety in this game as well. The devs really understand the beauty of suspense and use it frequently-movement in the shadows, figures in the background, small noises, pauses in the background music, subtle details in the foreground etc. Brilliant.
There were some really interesting mechanics and some puzzles as well, but artistry reigns supreme in this game. Storytelling without clear narrative, dialogue and speech. It really allows your imagination to fill in the gaps and this can be both satisfying and terrifying.
Overall, this was a mesmerizing, terrifying game. Art design, music and subtle storytelling all created an unforgettable masterpiece. Little Nightmares will leave lasting imagery and melodies, that with stay with you for long afterwards and leave you craving more. Highly addictive. Only wish it was longer. Can't wait for LN2!

This is going to be THAT kind of review. Such a waste. The game's artwork is fascinating with the creepy and almost horror-ish atmosphere. What absolutely ruined the experience was the awful platform. The controls are extremely wonky, there is no way you can just sit back relaxing and playing this game.
Moving this character is like moving a crane, you need to be very cautious in not stepping too close to the edge of bridges or corners, and because the game has such a weird gameplay design it is very likely you will fall almost every 5 minutes. I can take a lot but I'm not gonna spend hours playing something I can't control well. I'm surprised I haven't broken my controller yet.

No words for the sound experience, this game has given. Environment are designed in such a beautiful manner that you can guess the story from the surroundings.
Excited to play the sequel!

'Little Nightmares (2017)' is an atmospheric puzzle-platformer in which you play as a young girl who awakens, presumably after being kidnapped, inside a strange structure known as the Maw and must evade all manner of monster as you try to escape. It's a mixture of puzzle solving, platforming and stealth, wrapped up in a compellingly creepy aesthetic and an enigmatically underplayed narrative. It's a short but sweet experience that has a few issues but is generally really entertaining. The problems come mostly in the form of small annoyances; your character can easily get stuck on geometry, fall off small walkways and fail to interact with objects properly. Sometimes, the enemies seem to grab you when they shouldn't be able to. This general lack of mechanical refinement is occasionally frustrating, but it doesn't dampen the overall experience. The game can be finished in under an hour if you really know what you're doing (in fact, there's a somewhat unfair trophy/ achievement for finishing the thing in under an hour without dying once). This isn't a big deal, though, because it feels perfectly paced for what it is. There isn't a dull moment and the piece is sometimes fairly challenging. Plus, it should take a bit longer on your first attempt (though still only a couple of hours). The game is really enjoyable overall. Its aesthetic is distinct and effective, as is its atmosphere. It's a fun little experience that doesn't waste any of your time. 8/10.

These guys , these artists deserve the money, so they can make more games. This is gorgeous. And runs smooth, and no bugs? Nowadays that's an achievement by itself. Some of the puzzles are kind of odd and unconventional. Can make you scratch your head as to what you should do. But Once you figure it out it is always simple to do the action. If I had to put a number on it, for this genre I would say 8/10, I played this recently and was blown away by the art style in every scene! This was such an amazing game.

I bought myself this game for Sony PS4 from Smyths at Blanchardstown (it's in Dublin, Ireland) in early October 2017. I started playing it for the first time in the same month. It's kinda very creepy and eerie but absolutely fantastic! I just loved it. I think this game has been inspired by Tim Burton's works like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Neil Gaiman's Coraline as well. It is my favourite horror video game of all time.
This game follows the journey of Six, a hungry little girl who must escape the Maw, an iron vessel inhabited by monstrous, twisted human-like beings.
I know it is developed by a Swedish video game developer Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
If you're fan of Tim Burton and Neil Gaiman, you'll love this game.

Little Nightmares is a fantastic horror game that's in 3D indie game form. The game manages to be both spooky and fun blending in puzzles and strategies to hide from monsters that are after Six, the character you would play as. That and the story in this game is really engaging. The purpose of the game is about a little creature trying to survive in a cruise ship surrounded by the humans in this game that are supposed to be monsters. And the graphics is probably one of the best 3D indie graphics I've seen. Like I just said, the game manages to look spooky visually. After I finished the main game, I have played the three DLCs that were included in the game. The Depths, The Hideway, and The Resistance. They all connect to the main story very well from all the levels a player would experience. Plus, we would play as the runaway boy, a character who would help out with the gnomes. I know there's probably plenty of horror indie games, but this is one of them I highly recommend to play if you're into the genre. I'm glad this indie game has grown popular, because I'm looking forward to play the sequel soon, but that's for another time. All I can say is this game is a really great game that would contain the gameplay style we should have often as much we love the 2D ones. Happy Halloween.

I'm surprised at all the glowing reviews for this game - while brimming with atmosphere and great artwork, the game itself is a 'little nightmare" to play.
A poor control system, coupled with a lack of 3D depth and perspective means you are often fumbling about trying to work out where you are and what environmental elements can be interacted with. Add to that, the game revels in having you die without warning or ways to avoid it, mainly due to not being able to see enough of the environment at any one time.
The puzzles are somewhat obscure and are mostly solved through blind luck than any sense of skill on the players part.
That being said, the general feel of the game world is amazing, and perseverance somewhat pays off in the last quarter of the game where the game play switches to more of a chase, and is more forgiving and enjoyable. The ending is also both surprising and impactful.
It's a shame the game play is so poorly implemented, but with the game spawning sequels I guess it's appealing to someone!

Little Nightmares is a very solid game. From the lore it created to the awesome world design, this game is pretty good if i say so myself.
The story of Little Nightmares has me interested post game. The story is something that isn't shoved in your face and makes you (the player) piece together the puzzles for yourself. This means multiple people who have played the game could have differences in what they believe the games story was. Often times this isn't good as it means poor story (an example of this would be Bioshock: Infinite), but in this games case it actually makes the game much more interesting than if it was all spelt out for you on a silver platter. From many theories online that slightly differ (and sometimes significantly) is nice. I am still after a couple hours of completing the game watching theories online. This will of course wear-off, but for now it's interesting me. The DLC also adds to the story, but i want to talk about the DLC later on in this review separately.
The gameplay is a mixed bag for me. On one hand i liked the 2.5D (as it's called by many) style of the game, simply because i haven't played many a game with this look. Two that come to mind are Limbo and Inside but i personally haven't played many a game with this camera angle. I shall say however it has annoying flaws. These are things i think wasn't all down to the viewing angle as i will explain, but still has a lot to do with the problems. First there are so many times during my playthrough of the game (and the only review i have seen so far agreed with me) that you will be killed of fall damage or something alike when crossing platforms that have no barriers. This is for one down to the angle but they could have made it so that when you go across a wooden plank or a pipe like a tight-rope you just couldn't fall or your character didn't move as quickly as normal. Instead you either have to take it so very slow (and even then you may fall) or just pray to the high heavens you don't fall to your death. A few other things would be the angle making it harder to judge where an object is for example. Although rare, it's annoying when you jump of a ledge towards a dangling rope just to barely miss it and go crumbling down to the ground. I also want to add that although this next point is much more down to preference than the rest, i still find it valid to add in the review. But i didn't particularly like the control scheme either. It wasn't terrible at all, but on the Xbox (which is what i played it on) it's X to sprint and RT to grab stuff. This felt very uncomfortable in areas where you wanted to jump and run at the same time. This is because jump is the A button and sprint/run (as mentioned) is X. There are a few other nit picks but these are the main ones. There are barely any boss fights however and although i do not believe this game needs in-depth boss fights at all, if this is what you're looking for look elsewhere. Overall the gameplay isn't at all terrible or even bad, but it isn't as good as the story by a stretch when scaled up.
The visuals of this game are really good. From the design of the place you explore to the enemies and interactable objects. I just felt that the world was very well designed.
Speaking of which i would like to talk specifically about how much i love the character design in this game. It is so good, from the guy with long hands to the chefs and the final enemy. Even the design of the protagonist (Six) in this particular environment i though was great. In terms of Enemy and just creature design in general i honestly think this is one of the best in recent memory (although i understand the game hasn't just came out, but 2017 is still relatively new).
The length of the game was good and not at all too-short in my eyes. Sure some more of this world and lore would have been nice, but we can't have it all. Maybe slightly too short for some at only 4-5 hours of playtime to complete (not including DLC). But i honestly thought the length of the game was perfect.
The price of the game is a must get when on offer but at full price i would say wait as you can get the complete edition (including all DLC) on offer very cheap pretty often from what i've seen. That i how i brought the game as it's currently on offer as of my writing this review and it is definitely worth the money i spent. If we talk about the price when the game isn't on offer i must say that i think the price is still an ok value (although nothing amazing). However i mention waiting to get it on offer as it's super cheap for what you get (i believe) and although the game is good it's not a must play the moment you read this. I'm sure most who haven't played the game yet can wait a few weeks or a month for it to go on offer, but who knows.
I just submitted this review and completely forgot to talk about the DLC. Now as far as i found online the three DLC chapters than in total are about 2-3 hours in total all added up had a big gap between when they where released back in 2017-18. Now i think as of the here and now the DLC (especially as it will most likely come with your version of Little Nightmares) is a very good addition to the story. It is about half of if not slightly more than half of the main stories length and worth every minute. A new protagonist in a three chapter story that adds to the lore and story of the main game and is almost a mini game in and of itself. This being said i can see that back when Little Nightmares was new that the gap between these three chapters that released individually was far too long considering how much content was in the chapters in terms of length. The content isn't lacking but would have made much more sense to be released as one big DLC not three individual chapter every few months (especially as they are all the same protagonists story). DLC overall however is very good.
Finally, the game isn't scary at all really. That being said i can understand why it's classed as horror and it may not be scary but it's world is horrific in a way (depending on what you believe happens in the story). I have seen a few theories on this game and some do indeed amplify the horror and make me see the game differently. This being said maybe i shouldn't factor that in when talking about the game itself as it's not a part of the game directly. Basically if you're looking for some jumpy and very frightening horror experience then go to a different game. The horror isn't bad and the enemies and world do make you question stuff in a horrific kinda way. But in general the game isn't at all really scary and even the sounds aren't particularly horrific either. Speaking of which soundtrack is average, nothing good or bad really.
