The original title was "Cool Cat Loves You" but was changed to "Cool Cat the Kids Superhero" after Derek Savage read an article saying that the only movies doing well are superhero related and decided that kids needed a superhero.
Jason Johnson publicly mentioned that he never got to see the additional footage that was shot for this movie. The first time he saw himself acting as Cool Cat was when he saw the review by YouTuber Bobsheaux, who also supported the project on Kickstarter. Johnson said that he never received a DVD of the movie by Savage.
While Cynthia Rothrock's face is on the DVD cover of the movie, she is never seen in the movie and is only providing her voice for Momma Cat.
In various interviews, Jason Johnson has explained that the reason Cynthia Rothrock was brought aboard to replace April Ann Reese as the voice of "Momma Cat" was because she had rejected Derek Savage when he had asked her out. The "breaking point" of this was when Johnson, after a day of shooting, was allowed by Reese to take a shower in her house due to how much the Cool Cat suit made him sweat. Savage barged into the front door, thinking that something was "going on" between Johnson and Reese. Reese was fired immediately after that.
Despite the fact that much of the footage for this movie was reused from "Cool Cat Saves The Kids", a few editing issues from the original movie were fixed and some of the dialogue was also changed, e.g. in the new version Cool Cat reminds Maria to be careful when opening unknown text messages. Furthermore the voice of Monma Cat was re-recorded entirely by Cynthia Rothrock.
