While our parents tell some stories
we're going to listen them keenly. Instead of imagining the Frames we have to experience it feel it ! So that time our anxiety to see the imaginary things to converting reality , our urge makes parent's to do some mad thing's to proove it ! that we feel like our parents are the true heroes in fact now also.
First story follows the desire of kid who wants see the Rainbowland which told by her father! For that her dad tries to create Rainbowland with help of paints.
What if you get a chance to do some crazy thing's Which you're not able to do in your childhood , second story follows the childhood desires of Mr Satya which he not able to enjoy the ride of Joint wheel.
Third one follows the concept of De Ja Vu ! Sometimes fast forward helps us to fix our future. As in the song they said it was true " The Journey heading towards victory , A journey that heads backwards not survive , A new emotion is raisen A new begining is here !
Fourth one deals with the moral values of Journalism and Societies insensitivity A slight satirical punch to media and their trending trolling topics for TRP rates. So now decide who's faiult or failure it is either media's or Societies " world is functioning exactly the way it should "
Fifth one set in the atmosphere of pre independence in India (Mysore). Kannappa Who Follows the order's of Britishers to Kill the revolutionist in Padurahalli. He Kills most of the locallies some people will escapes from there then he coming to know that area Barber also including that group. Later he is going to there for shaving , while doing the shaving that barber mind fluctuates between either Will Kill him or not finally he decides to not Kill because it's against his profession and ethics of him ancestors. Than Kannappa going to reveals the secrets he already he is the member in the group so he ended up with " To killing some one is not a easy job it's just my Duty "
Sixth one deals with the survival help Judgement !
Seventh one is quite interesting Berea is a Middle aged guy from Hubli who is working in Bangalore. After his father Death he brings her mom to city , there she supposed to spend her rest of her life. One day House owner comes and asking about house rent he saying still her son OWS 10k to him if he not return back in this month I will kick out from the house. So she decided to consult some pan brokers shop kept her gold in the shop tries to borrow some money From them but they says we're not going to do business with strangers or else you have to submit the ID proofs. She returns from there to some sweet shop then theatre then she Forgotten the address. Some how she find address with one girl!

When you are told you are about to watch a tribute to Puttanna Kanagal, you just watch.
Kanagal's 'Katha Sangana' had three short stories, whereas this one has seven. I am not sure about the intention behind naming every cast/crew member that ever worked with Kanagal at the beginning of the film.
'Rainbow Land' is a feel good father-daughter story. 'Sathya Katha Prasanga' is psychedelic with good acting by Prakash Belawadi (trivia: it is shot in Malleswaram). I couldn't help thinking of one of R K Narayan's distressed characters from 'Malgudi Days' during both these stories.
'Girgitle' is bizarre, and 'Utthara' leaves us with a question instead of an answer. 'Padavaralli' is abrupt and 'Sagara Sangama' appears, at least to me, pointless.
They certainly saved the best for the last: 'Lachavva'. Kudos to the makers for extracting the most natural performances by what appear to be non-actors, or 'real people'.
The lead actress, Paravva, easily steals the show and brings tears to one's eyes with her effortless acting. The story is also symbolic of the urban predicament of mass-migration from villages into cities.
My average rating of this film increased mainly because of 'Lachavva'.

This movie gives a complete treat of best cinematography, direction, music, acting and story. When one story gives you different perspectives, the other shows something which is relatable to life. When one story gives a bit of comedy, the other has few thrillers. A must watch kind of movie. This team has been creating good content since past. Hats off!

Girigitle story line is really good. Both acting and direction is good.
What a wonderful movie. All 7 stories were done so well, but the last story stole the show. It was just beyond awesome, the actors, direction, story, just everything.

7 stories.
7 directors.
Not one worth (Well 'Lacchavva' had better acting though).
What do you do when you have horrible short stories that you want to make as a feature length film? You use a famous director of the past as your poster boy, smear it with music and bring in the known faces to cover up the weak, shabbily written stories that were promoted using '7 stories - 7 directors - dedicated to Puttanna Kangal'.
1. Rainbowland. 1/10 A couple and a little school going daughter. The father narrates a bed time story about Rainbowland and the daughter insists on being taken to Rainbowland the next day. What happens the next day is the story. In short, there isn't any. The kid unfortunately is forced to deliver the dialogues and is very conscious. Kishore and Yagna are good in their roles.
2. Satya Katha Prasanga. 2/10 Prakash Belawadi takes the lead here of a single father of a working son. It's Prakash's last day at the office, as he is off to retire the next day. How he feels is the crux of the story. But then this should have been one sequence in a film/ short film and they pulled it to make it an entire shot film.
3. Girgitle. 3/10 Raj and Amrutha play the lead. Raj's angry moments are so much as in OMK. There were no difference in character between these two films. Raj is a jobless man and his love is played by Amrutha Naik. Amrutha is angry that he has no job and they fight at the beach which results in a violent act which changes the 'drama' into a 'sci-fi'. The idea is used by Hollywood so many times that watching it again is definitely a no joy. Unfortunately the director/ writer has no clue how 'such' movies work and hence a lot of logical errors in the film could be seen. BTW, bad editing.
4. Utthara. 1/10 Pramod Shetty leads this short. He attends a seminar by a news media personality, at one of his former students' college. But he has an ulterior motive. What the motive is and how it fans out is the story. Very talkie and the dialogues too don't hold you. The end had an off moment with breaking the 4th wall.
5. Paduvaaraahalli. 1/10 This one goes off track in terms of the time line - a pre-independent era. Avinash takes the lead. Having Voice Over itself is a put off but having it in a short film is a shame. This one has not just a voice over explaining the beginning of the story like a narration but also makes one wonder why watch a movie when you can hear it. An Indian officer working for the British comes to a saloon for a shave. A light conversation later, the barber is conflicted if he should kill the officer or not. This is inspired by a famous European (if am not wrong) short story. Seriously very childish film. Shame.
6. Sagara Sangama. 1/10 Haripriya is in the driver's seat literally, with Rishab Shetty in an over dramatic look. Bad editing. Haripriya has a broken car in the middle of a road beside the sea shore. There's no help when an Rishab Shetty with a flimsy look walks by with a street dog. You will know what the film is about the moment Rishab comes closer to Haripriya. Rest of the short is an example of how not to write a film/ short. Shame.
7. Lacchavva. 6/10 People have gone gaga over this story but then again, it's OK. But because every other story is so bad, this looks like a cup of elixir. But what stands out is the leading lady who has also worked in the acclaimed Kannada film, 'Thithi'. She is a natural. Even the extras, like the auto guy, shop keepers etc were very good at their dialogue delivery. The story is 'not bad' though. But this reminded me of certain moments of the second half of the super hit Kannada film 'Jogi'. If it wasn't for the lead actress who is actually from Hubli and hence the perfect pronunciation, this short would have been another dud.
All those who have given a 10/10 either have no clue about numbers or they are from the film crew. Shame. My mother and my aunt watched this in the theater though I told her it will disappoint her and it did. She said the last short was good, everything else was a waste. I saw it on Prime.

There are 7 parts in this movie. Each of them are excellent pieces of art. From a heart-warming story of a father and daughter, to a thrilling story of the Indian freedom struggle, this movie will not cease to amaze audience every second. A fitting tribute to the great director, late Putanna Kanagal.

Film as a bunch of story stories is ok, but i am touched by the last on one LATCHCHAVVA , what a super master piece.
The acting is so natural you feel as if it is happening next to you, the characters and making is so grounded ,at some point you can relate some characters are passed by you. Appreciate the natural making for this story. It show s the city life on the other hand also message is there that they still have heart & support needy. Kind of treat of natural cinema from all angles. The rishab and haripriya episode is also good, Need more of such cinemas.
