Featured review
Kick Me is a fast-paced micro short film set in an office environment. In just one minute, a series of mostly unfortunate events unfold for the main character, who is shown with a Post-it note stuck to his back. The message on the note changes with each shot, starting with the classic "kick me" joke and later displaying other phrases. Whatever the note says, it happens.
I have to be honest-it was quite difficult to grasp what the story is really about. It could simply be an extension of the classic Post-it joke in a humorous way, or it might be delivering a message about labeling people in the same way we label things, as hinted by the Post-it note on a pile of documents at the end of the film.
I've seen many ultra-short films, and they typically focus on one of three things: delivering a powerful message, providing comedic entertainment, or depicting an emotional moment. Kick Me doesn't fit neatly into any of these categories, but it could be a mix of the first two-or just one of them-depending on how the story is interpreted, if any specific interpretation is intended.
Personally, I would have liked a bit more clarity about the purpose of this micro short film to better evaluate how well it achieves its goal.
