Craig Reynolds, who appears briefly in the benefit sequence at the Cocoanut Grove, was originally cast as the star of this movie, but caught the flu and was replaced by Donald Woods.

According to a contemporary article in the New York Times, the opening scenes in the film were inspired by the publicity tour of chorus girls for Gold Diggers of 1937 (1936), another Warner Bros. film.
