A lot of comedy fans love both Mel Brooks and Monty Python, and would presumably be thrilled if they all got along splendidly. Unfortunately, one of the very first meetings between the Blazing Saddles director and a Python member didn’t go so well.
Back in 1987, Brooks met Michael Palin, while the latter was in Los Angeles making A Fish Called Wanda. At the same time, Palin was trying to hire Brooks’ wife Anne Bancroft to star in his film American Friends, which eventually came out in 1991 (with no Anne Bancroft). Palin ran into Brooks at the studio commissary, and they immediately got off on the wrong foot.
As Palin wrote in his diary at the time, Brooks was “chunky, rack-like, barrel chest, with a firm, no-nonsense light paunch.” He then grabbed Palin’s hand and shook it “probably five or six times.” Then he affably implied that Monty Python...

Completing his unofficial trilogy of American heroism after Sully and American Sniper, Clint Eastwood’s latest film recreates the 2015 event in which Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone, and Jeffrey E. Stern were on the #9364 train from Brussels to Paris when an Isis terrorist boarded with an Ak-47, a pistol, a box cutter, and enough ammunition to kill all 500 people on board. The three American friends took it upon themselves to charge the gunman and stop him. The 15:17 to Paris, arriving in February actually stars the three men, playing themselves, and today the first trailer has arrived.
“I looked at a lot of very good actors who could possibly have done the job. But I kept looking at the faces of these young men — “boys,” I call them,” Eastwood tells EW. “I thought these faces were unique. It just struck me that it would be an interesting experiment. Ever since making his feature debut with the darkly comical Sitcom, French writer/director François Ozon has been making the world feeling horny and shocked with his films, often at the same time. With a body of work that also includes Water Drops on Burning Rocks, Under the Sand, In the House and the glorious one-two punch of 8 Women and Swimming Pool, you’d think the prolific provocateur might soon be running out of tricks.
Think again. His latest erotic thriller, L’amant double, which premiered in competition at Cannes this year, proved to be the film scandaleux of the festival. Starring Marine Vacth as Chloé, a young woman who one day discovers her psychiatrist partner Paul (Jérémie Renier) might have an evil twin brother and gradually loses herself in a web of deceit and kinks, it’s the kind of dangerously sexy farce at which Ozon excels.

Fear The Walking Dead isn't a universe that allows happy endings. Sure, you might get a few happy moments here and there, and between seasons anything is possible, but on a macro level, nothing's going to work out for anyone, and everyone's going to die miserably. After all, these are a bunch of people who are trying to scratch out a living in an inhospitable desert, an arduous process even before the whole zombie apocalypse outbreak. However, La Serpiente ends on a strangely pleasant note. Daniel and Strand have a handshake and an understanding of mutual benefit. Madison's gotten the water needed to keep the peace and keep the ranch alive.

Then Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was released, spawning a three billion dollar grossing franchise and giving the world Captain Jack Sparrow. So, while we wait for that movie to set sail, here are five things you never knew about the pirates of the Caribbean franchise. 1. Clint Eastwood has proven himself a phenomenal actor time and time again, and over the years he's done a fantastic job at showing his chops as a director, having made films like Sully and American Sniper. Oscar-nominated films that tell stories of regular people doing heroic things. Well, he's at it again, the little stinker.
I don't know what I meant by that. But Clint Eastwood has picked the rights to the book The 15:17 to Paris and that will be the next film he directs. The book is called The 15:17 To Paris: the True Story Of a Terrorist, A Train, And Three American Heroes. The authors and characters of the book, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos and Spencer Stone have also given their life rights as part of the deal.
The story recounts a true-life event that took place on August of 1015 and is set on a plane from Brussels to Paris.

When it comes to films depicting American heroism, few do it better than Clint Eastwood. The Hollywood legend loves a good tale of fighting the good fight and for his next project, he’ll be tackling yet another true story that shows off bravery at its finest. That’s because the director will get behind the camera for The 15:17 to Paris, which has a script from newcomer Dorothy Blyskal.
Apparently, casting on the pic is already underway, with production looking to begin later this year. In terms of what it’s actually about, the film will tell the story of “three American friends who took down an Isis terrorist on the #9364 train from Brussels to Paris in 2015.” Two of them were off-duty members of the army, and together, they stopped the assailant before he could carry out his plan.

Clint Eastwood is about to get back behind the camera for another true story of heroism with The 15:17 to Paris. Deadline reports Eastwood will helm the film based on the book The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes, by Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone, and Jeffrey E. Stern.
In 2015, Americans Sadler, Skarlatos and Stone were on the #9364 train from Brussels to Paris when an Isis terrorist boarded with an Ak-47, a pistol, a box cutter, and enough ammunition to kill all 500 people on board. The three American friends took it upon themselves to charge the gunman and stop him.
This will be yet another chance for Eastwood to engage in a bit of flag-waving while focusing on a true story of ordinary men thrust into extraordinary situations, following the trend of his 2014’s American Sniper, about U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle,...

The longest running franchise sustained only by outrageous stunts and large men flexing at each other is back with Fast & Furious 8 (or the more pun-tactic Fate of the Furious for our American friends), and even if the marketing touts that everything changes with an ‘evil' Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) taking on his family (say this in a low, guttural growl for the proper effect) of international street racers turned thieves turned extreme spies, it’s pretty much business as usual for the franchise. But while the previous movies (especially the fantastic Fast 7) got by on the virtue of being outrageous, brainless fun, this installment sees the cracks begin to show as you can feel that maybe everyone involved is taking the movie a bit too seriously. After a brief detour to Havana to remind viewers that this franchise was once solely about street racing, the story kicks into high gear (......y’know what?...

In the perfect piece of marketing, we get to see what the band has to offer with the music video for Lady Gypsy, a folk ballad that gets very awkward very quickly. As you would expect from Mr. Brent. That stare, man. That stare. David Brent: Life on the Road hits cinemas on this side of the pond on August 19th. Our American friends will experience Brent’s return sometime in 2017, when the movie hits Netflix over there.

During the publicity tour for Spectre, his fourth James Bond movie in eleven years, Daniel Craig made known his desire to leave the franchise, specifically saying in one interview he’d rather slash his wrists than play the suave super spy one more time. So, yeah, he was determined to go, and now a new rumour is doing the rounds that he has gotten his wish and is done with the franchise. The Daily Mail, citing “one L.A. film source”, is reporting that Craig has turned down an offer of £68 million (about $100 million for our American friends) for two more movies, stating: “Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre. They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted.’ ‘He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company...

Music documentary A Venue for the End of the World fits this particular American election cycle to a tee: it's all about crowd manipulation and leader worship.

The documentary features interviews with a host of luminaries, including Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Santana drummer Michael Shrieve and Don't Look Back filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker.

For a franchise that started off being solely about street racing, Fast & Furious has gone on to bigger, better and downright insane things, with each installment in recent years pushing the envelope when it comes to over the top action sequences. With next year's eight installment, incoming director F. Gary Gray is planning to kick things up several notches, with Iceland Review reporting that the production will be visiting the town of Akranes with the intention of carrying out "the biggest explosion in Iceland's history". Considering the lengths even the last two installments went to, there is every chance that Iceland could end with a sizable chunk taken out of it when filming takes place there in April. Fast & Furious 8 (or Fast 8 for our American friends) hits our screens April 14th 2017.

A particular sub-set of travel horror exists to scare people away from real-life attractions with no regard for whether any threat actually exists. Films such as The Ruins, Chernobyl Diaries, and As Above, So Below gladly exploit a Mayan temple, the long-abandoned city of Pripyat, Ukraine, and the Paris Catacombs, respectively, as forbidden sites harboring contained evils lying in wait for unsuspecting victims – nevermind that countless tourists have managed to visit these places without incident.
The latest victim of this trend is the Darién Gap, a dense rainforest region located between Panama and Colombia. The area has bedeviled explorers and Pan-American highway developers alike, who have all battled its inhospitable landscape to varying degrees of success. Leave it to a British army captain and his two Us counterparts to muscle their way into London's red carpet premiere of The Martian.
Captain Gregg McLeod was showing his American friends around London this week, and decided to try his luck at getting a ticket for the sci-fi epic's exclusive screening.
Force TV got the trio as far as the red carpet, but it was up to Captain McLeod to appeal directly The Martian director Sir Ridley Scott.
The good-natured filmmaker ultimately pulled a few strings to get the trio into the movie, but not before they got to invite The Martian's main man Matt Damon out for a beer.
We hope these brave servicemen had the night of their lives!
The Martian is now playing in the Us and the UK. Watch a trailer below:...

Based on the bestselling novel from Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is the next movie in line for Tim Burton, and the first look has come our way with this extremely peculiar teaser trailer. Yeah, I have no idea what’s going on either. For our American friends, this dropped on September 3rd, which fans of the book will know is ‘Loop Day’. Again, I have no idea, but a quick look at the synopsis does suggest something that is right up Burton’s alley, and fingers crossed this is a return to form for the kooky director: When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers.

We’re exactly one week from Zac Efron’s We Are Your Friends hitting the big screen (on this side of the pond. Our American friends have to wait one day more) and in anticipation, we have two videos for ya. First up is a feature focusing on the electronic DJs, including Nicky Romero, Alesso, and Them Jeans, director Max Joseph worked with closely when making the movie. Then, we have a prank that the cast, and Joseph’s Catfish co-star Nev Schulman, played on the director, recreating his ‘signature move’ on set. Released: August 27th Synopsis: We Are Your Friends is a coming of age drama about what it takes to find your sound. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23 year old DJ named Cole spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire.

Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four is released into Irish cinemas today (our American friends, will have to wait till Friday), and to mark the event, Fox have released these pretty cool Doom (Toby Kebbell) related pieces. First up is a pretty intense clip featuring Doom using his powers in an incredibly violent and bloody fashion (this was a lot more than I was expecting from the movie). It's also our first proper look at the villain, so well done to Fox on not spoiling this till the very end. This was followed by this awesome poster done by legendary comic book artist Bryan Hitch, who is no stranger to Marvel’s First Family, providing the art for Mark Millar’s (creator of Kick-Ass) run on the book.

The model covers the September issue of Glamour magazine, where she opens up about her instant connection with Taylor Swift, her love life and her nice girl image. The brunette beauty -- who turned 23-years-old on Monday -- says that she and the "Blank Space" singer had an almost-instant connection at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show two years ago when Swift performed. "Taylor and I met at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show two years ago. [Model] Lily Aldridge introduced us," she tells the mag. "She was like, ‘Ok, you two are kindred spirits. How have my two nice American friends never met?’ And that was it….. Our friendship is the same as yours and mine. Many of my closest friends are traveling all the time, so it takes constant effort—texting, FaceTiming—on all ends to maintain close relationships." Taylor, of course,...

The hit Bcc comedy comes to the big screen this Summer with The Bad Education Movie seeing Jack Whitehall’s immature teacher Alfie Wickers embark on a chaotic class trip with his tear away students. This might go over the heads of our American friends, but those in Ireland and the U.K. should know know exactly what to expect. No doubt, this will hope to emulate the success of fellow t.v. to movie converts Alan Partridge, The Inbetweeners, and Mrs. Brown, and judging from the below trailer, which brings with it a fair amount of chuckles, it shouldn’t have a problem, with Whitehall being his usual liable self, and joined by an ables cast, including Harry Enfield, Matthew Horne, and Game of Thrones’ Ian Glen. The Bad Education Movie hits our shores August 21st.

Into my pocket it rapidly went, compensation for the fact that my quest for rooftop access had been stymied. An orange plastic sign across the door up ahead, warning (bluffing?) of alarms that would ring out if opened, dissuaded further progress. I wasn't too disheartened—my unplanned visit to the Bendix Building had yielded sufficient delights.

Would You Rather: proving Netflix UK is often better than its Us counterpart
‘Most importantly, the UK catalogue has exclusive dominion over perhaps my all-time favourite Netflix discovery: 2013 torture porn indie Would You Rather’
Last year, after pressure from a number of studios, Netflix added a clause to its subscription contract warning that it would terminate the account of any subscriber found to be using a Vpn – a service designed to mask a computer’s location – in order to access international versions of its streaming catalogue. While the company has seemingly yet to follow through on this threat, its introduction does draw attention to an uncomfortable truth for Netflix: the company provides a service that varies dramatically from place to place. The UK catalogue, for instance, offers less than half the titles available in the Us, and costs more.
