Alan Scarfe, the classically trained British Canadian actor known for his turns as bad guys in Double Impact and Lethal Weapon III and as Dr. Bradley Talmadge on the Upn sci-fi series Seven Days, has died. He was 77.

Scarfe died April 28 of colon cancer at his home in Longueuil, Quebec, his family announced.

Survivors include his son, actor Jonathan Scarfe (ER, Raising the Bar, Hell on Wheels, Van Helsing).

Born in England and raised in Vancouver, Scarfe portrayed the Romulans Tokath and Admiral Mendak on episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1991 and 1993 and was another alien, the powerful Magistrate Augris, on a 1995 installment of Star Trek: Voyager.

“Science fiction on film and television, especially if you are playing some kind of alien character with fantastic make-up, is great for actors with a strong stage background,” he said in a 2007 interview. “The productions need that kind of size and intensity of performance.

It has been nearly 14 years since Chicago Fire first graced our screens.

As the original series that spawned an entire TV universe, the firefighter-focused arm of One Chicago has remained widely popular.

Throughout Season 12, Chicago Fire brought in between five and seven million viewers each week.

This season was full of ups and downs, and we're finally ready to talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Chicago Fire hiatus ended Wednesday night with a new episode called The Wrong Guy.

Paramedic Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) was introduced in the previous episode as the new partner for Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith).

Novak stepped in after Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) sent Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) packing. Lennox didn’t fit at Firehouse 51, as the team sought a replacement for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).

Violet wasn’t sure about Novak at first, but she was won over by Novak’s skills in the field and outgoing personality.

Rome Flynn has also departed from the Chicago Fire cast. He played firefighter Jake Gibson, the character replacing Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).

Chicago Fire is back from another hiatus, but maybe the writers needed a longer break.

I'm not trying to shade anyone, but let's face it — like many others this season, this episode lacked a certain something. Substance? Interest? Whatever it was, it was missing.

When you have a show with this many characters, and you're constantly introducing new ones, it has to be hard to keep track of the storylines you're putting together. That's no reason to jump the shark, though, and it's starting to feel like that's what's happening.

Chicago Fire fans have been patiently waiting almost a month for new episodes.

After news broke that Flaherty, best known for his work on the sketch show Sctv and Freaks and Geeks died at age 82, comedians, including Adam Sandler and Martin Short, shared their condolences and favorite memories of Flaherty in their lives and careers.

Refresh for updates… Tributes are pouring in for Joe Flaherty, whose career launched with Canadian sketch comedy series Sctv, and who was known for his roles as Harold Weir on Freaks and Geeks, and Donald the heckler in Happy Gilmore. Flaherty died Monday at the age of 82.

Martin Short, Flaherty’s co-star on Sctv, remembered Flaherty as “the funniest man in the room.”

“In over 50 years of our friendship, there were very few people as wise or hilarious when it came to comedy, teaching improvisation and the art of character work as Joe,” Short wrote in a press statement. “In ‘Sctv’ we called him the anchor. In life, he was simply the funniest man in the room. I just adored him.”

Adam Sandler paid tribute to his Happy Gilmore co-star in a post on Instagram.

“Oh man. Worshipped Joe growing up, Sandler wrote next to photo of Flaherty. “Always had me and my brother laughing.

Joe Flaherty, who got his start in Canadian sketch comedy show Sctv and was best known for his roles as Harold Weir in Freaks and Geeks, Donald in Happy Gilmore and Western Union Man in Back to the Future Part II, died on Tuesday after battling an undisclosed illness. He was 82.

The comedy realm is dealt another big blow as the world says goodbye to Joe Flaherty. According to Exclaim, the Sctv legend had been dealing with a sickness and was said to be “very ill.” In late February, Flaherty’s Second City brother, Martin Short, sent a message to their Sctv peers to fundraise for his home care in his last days, which amounted to $20K a month. Short had said that they had been made aware of the gravity of his condition and Flaherty chose to spend the rest of his life at home with his daughter rather than at a facility. The actor along with filmmaker Enzo Tedeschi and Stephanie Pringle, co-founder of Chicken and Chips Casting, viewed the self-tests, teaser trailers and short films and gave the creators their expert advice and guidance.

Canadian comedian André Sauvé will adapt into a film a famous monologue he did in a sketch: the grocery store (l'épicerie). The film will fittingly be called L'épicerie.

This will be the second film in which André Sauvé plays after Filière 13. Instead of being in a supporting role like in Filière 13, Sauvé will be the lead actor.

Christal Film Productions, a production company, announced yesterday that André Sauvé will write the film's script along with Claude Lalonde (Filière 13). For the moment, no director is attached to the film.

The film is about a man who goes to the grocery store. Once there, he starts to panick because of what's offered to him on the shelves.

In the next months, the producers of the film will seek subsidies from Telefilm Canada and the Sodec, respectively a federal and a Quebecker cinematographic funding agency. The producers expect L'épicerie's budget to be at $6 M.

If you’re caught up, read on to see what funny flics I felt were unfairly ignored/disliked upon its release or have been forgotten in the years since its release.

Comedy is almost certainly the most subjective of all genres. What makes one person laugh is guaranteed to make another yawn or wrinkle his/her brow. Some find juvenilia in poor taste while others bust a gut. Everyone claims to have a sense of humor, but almost no one enjoys every type of humor there is, from dry wit and pungent satire to bodily fluid gags and intentionally groan-worthy puns. Therefore, I think it’s safe to say that no one (besides myself) will be satisfied with every choice.

Dave Foley guest starring on Stargate Atlantis isn’t exactly the weirdest thing in the universe, but it’s still pretty quirky casting. Foley – a stand-up comic, member of the beloved comedy troupe Kids in the Hall, a judge on Thank God You’re Here and an actor whose credits include The Wrong Guy, A Bug’s Life and Sky High – is the main guest in the Atlantis episode “Brain Storm,” airing tonight on the Sci Fi Channel. Foley plays Malcolm Tunney, a businessman/scientist and one-time rival of Dr. McKay (David Hewlett) who’s apparently invented a device that can help get global warming under control. Of course, “apparently” is the key word here, as Tunney’s top-secret demonstration doesn’t go quite according to plan, forcing McKay and Dr. Keller (Jewel Staite) to save the day.
