In Hulu’s “Interior Chinatown,” Jimmy O. Yang stars as Willis Wu, a “generic Asian man” stuck in the background of police procedural show, whose luck begins to shift when he breaks into a leading role — a trajectory that resonated heavily with the actor.
“I felt that often in my life, especially when I first started as an actor,” Yang told TheWrap of the “almost invisible forces” holding Willis on the sidelines. “I was a background actor. I was Chinese teenager No. 1 in ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ a show that Chloe [Bennet] was the star in, actually.”
Like Willis, Yang explained he “snuck [his] way into being tech guy,” which he explains is “exactly what Willis has done in the book and in the show” as he secretly works with Detective Lana Lee (Bennet) to solve a string of crimes in Chinatown that could be related to the disappearance of his brother.

Not many people remember Austin Butler’s Derek Hanson opposite Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana. Still, people must live under a rock if they missed his portrayal of the legendary rock and roll singer and actor Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.
Butler’s performance in the movie was praised by the critics and audience and earned him nominations for Best Actor awards, including the Academy Award. He ended up winning the BAFTA and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
As if this was not enough to prove his proficiency as an actor, he has now played the role of the villain Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2. To everyone’s utmost surprise, he recently revealed that he improvised one of the most shocking scenes in the movie.

Launch of Surat Diamond Bourse (Sdb) has catapulted it to a unique position as being the World’s largest office building surpassing Pentagon. If we remember, in most of the Hollywood movies Pentagon building invariably featured as a backdrop or a location for the films which catapulted this building to a place of eminence around the world. With the launch of Sdb, one hopes that Sdb henceforth holds fort in all the forms of cinematic exposition, be it cinema, Ott or serials from India and make it a must visit itinerary for travellers in the near future.

She was photographed by Warhol, and Dalí wanted to paint her; the first films she made were Death in Venice and Cabaret. So why did she walk away?
Most people, says Marisa Berenson, “tend to live in my past. Which is fine.” She smiles, well aware of the fascination. “But I tend to live in the present and in the future.” A 2001 profile of the model/actor in the New York Times described her as a “Zelig of the zeitgeist … popping up in the right place at the right time”. And there is certainly something magical about her life and the people who have passed through it. As a child (she is now 72) she was taught to dance by Gene Kelly. Country Radio Seminar (Crs) isn’t usually the kind of place for grand statements — if anything, the annual gathering of country radio programmers in Nashville is a time when artists play it safe in hopes of scoring some eventual airtime. On October 22, after reading Glenn Whipp’s incendiary James Toback investigation in the La Times, Becky Wahlstrom scoured her journals. A veteran actress whose credits include “Joan of Arcadia” and “Mad Men,” she was 23 when she wrote a seven-and-a-half page entry on August 13, 1998 that described meeting Toback at the Beverly Hills Hotel for approximately five hours the night before.
Ostensibly, it was an audition for his film “Black and White”; Toback requested the meeting after seeing her deliver two lines in Don Roos’ “The Opposite of Sex.” She went to the audition without sides; she loved the idea that Toback liked to build his roles around his actors, a philosophy she embraced while studying at the Piven Theatre Workshop in Chicago.

You may have seen Jurassic Park a dozen times, but there loads of details that are easy to miss. Details like these...
Last week, visual effects artist Todd Vaziri took to Twitter to shatter the illusions of Jurassic Park fans everywhere. "When people watch this 24-year old mega-blockbuster," he tweeted, "they point and laugh at the totally obvious disappearing raptor on each viewing, ya?"
See related James Bond 007: revisiting Never Say Never Again
What, Todd? The what!?
Alongside this tweet, Vaziri also posted a slowed down Gif of the moment in question and - yep - there it is. During the final set piece, in which the T-Rex (somehow silently) stomps into the Visitor's Centre and gobbles up the Velociraptors, one of the Raptors disappears. Not eaten by the Rex, just gone. One frame, she's there, the next she's not, the following one she's there again.

Robert Redford movies: TCM shows 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,' 'The Sting' They don't make movie stars like they used to, back in the days of Louis B. Mayer, Jack Warner, and Harry Cohn. That's what nostalgists have been bitching about for the last four or five decades; never mind the fact that movie stars have remained as big as ever despite the demise of the old studio system and the spectacular rise of television more than sixty years ago. This month of January 2015, Turner Classic Movies will be honoring one such post-studio era superstar: Robert Redford. Beginning this Monday evening, January 6, TCM will be presenting 15 Robert Redford movies. Tonight's entries include Redford's two biggest blockbusters, both directed by George Roy Hill and co-starring Paul Newman: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which turned Redford, already in his early 30s, into a major film star to rival Rudolph Valentino,...

Mike Binder's Black or White is getting a little Oscar run starting today, but it won't be hitting a larger number of theaters until January 23 next year, and then expanding wide a week later on January 30. Relativity is hoping for some kind of Oscar love for the pic, but considering the chasm of mixed opinions on the film I'm not expecting it to gain much attention if any. I have a screener here, but given the negative review from friend of the site, Kevin Jagernauth, over at The Playlist I hesitate to even hit play. Then again, I also trust Jeff Wells at Hollywood-Elsewhere when it comes to his opinions on movies and he loved it... What's thatc Maybe I should just watch it for myself you're rushing off to the comments to hammer away on your keyboardc Okay, I probably will, after all, I really liked Binder's under-appreciated Reign Over Me.

The festival bills itself a mix of film, food and, of course, wine, with its own wine director pouring bottles from 150 of the region’s best-regarded vineyards. A recent Los Angeles event spotlighting the festival featured The Weinstein Co. President David Glasser, who said his company will use it to push awareness of several TWC awards contenders. Among those projects: The Imitation Game, with festival appearances scheduled for director Morten Tyldum and cast members for the biopic about martyred cryptography pioneer Alan Turing.

So on Monday, I watched the Gotham series premiere with about 8 million of my friends. I started writing a column about the show and what it says (accidentally and/or purposefully) about the role of Batman in pop culture right now. But working on that column got me thinking more generally about Batman: A character who has been around for 75 years, a figure in my cultural consciousness since before my memory begins. The next thing I knew, I was making a list of my favorite Batman things–the movies, the TV shows, the vividly recalled comic book story arcs and standalone issues,...

The 2014 Oscar clock is running out for powerful, but still unsold, festival showpieces starring Jennifers Aniston and Connelly, as well as Kevin Costner and Richard Gere.
Several unspoken-for films came into this year’s Toronto International Film Festival determined not only to find a distributor, but to set a 2014 release date. In the case of Still Alice, the touching drama of a woman’s descent into early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, that plan worked spectacularly well. It had a stirring world-premiere screening on Sept. 8 in a less-visible afternoon slot at Tiff and quickly sparked Oscar buzz for star Julianne Moore, a four-time nominee who has never won.
Sony Pictures Classics presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard quickly recognized the kind of role that has Oscar written all over it, and two days later the picture sold to Spc (which, despite having its largest slate of Oscar hopefuls ever, still had an...

Kevin Costner came into the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday for the world premiere of his powerful new drama, Black And White, a stirring story dealing with our racial divide, but mostly a riveting human tale from writer/director Mike Binder. It’s unflinchingly honest and contains a crackerjack courtroom scene that’s priceless. In that scene, Costner delivers perhaps the best performance of his career, or at least since the period of his career circa Field Of Dreams. It played to a packed house yesterday at Roy Thomson Hall and won a strong ovation from the crowd.
Costner told me that even the though the hard-hitting film is not a comedy, the audience responded with laughs in just the right places and really seemed to be moved by what they saw on screen.

"The Giver" is the latest dystopian thriller to follow an attractive teen who must fight against the totalitarian authority of misguided adults. And if that sounds like every other post-apocalyptic young adult film ever, keep in mind that at least "The Giver" came out a decade or two before such recent Ya offerings as "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent." Directed by Phillip Noyce (his first feature since 2010's Angelina Jolie thriller "Salt") and starring an impressive cast (producer Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgard, and a nearly unrecognizable Taylor Swift).
Based on Lois Lowry's best seller, "The Giver" focuses on a utopian community where there's no discrimination, war, pain, or hate but also no love, emotion, art, or joy. The goal is "Sameness." On the day when all 16-year-olds receive their permanent job assignment, Jonas (Aussie newcomer Brenton Thwaites) is selected to inherit the role of Receiver of Memory,...

In Draft Day, on the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner) has the opportunity to rebuild his team when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL. Recently, Wamg sat down with Kevin Costner in a press conference where he spoke to members of the media about his new role in Draft Day, Field Of Dreams, and how affected he was by Rock Hudson in Giant. Check it out below!
There’s a line in the movie where you say, “What do you want?!” Is this a direct reference to Field Of Dreams where you at one point said, “What do you want?...

Kevin has your instincts of who you are and what you have brought to this game shifted since you first started?
Kevin Costner: My whole life has been instinctual for me. I wouldn’t do well in a computer world, my children look at me for a question then quickly look away because they know I don’t know anything about Super Mario.

The first trailer for 'The Giver' shows off Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and even a little bit of Katie Holmes. But fans are crying foul over the cinematography. Did we learn nothing from 'The Golden Compass' about straying too far from the source material? One of the most important and subtly terrifying things about Lois Lowry's novel is how — in humanity's rush to rid the world of disease and war — we've literally bled color from the world. Black and white rules the day, with Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) seeing flashes of red as The Giver shows him more of man's collective memory. The movie seems to hit all the right points about this creepy universe where your job and even your spouse are chosen by the collective, but what would it have been like if we'd gotten the family-friendly version of 'Sin City' we all hoped for?...

Funny how fast an Oscar season goes by… only last year Argo was being given the Academy Award for Best Picture. The big night is almost here and nothing about this year’s Academy Awards is a sure bet. With so much time between the nominations in January, the various guild awards and the Olympics thrown in, the 6,028 AMPAS voters have had a long time to mull things, and their votes, over.
The winner’s acceptance speeches at the Golden Globes, the Screen Actor Guild Awards (SAG) and the British Academy Awards (BAFTA) have never been more important as they have during this past month and a half. Voting for the Oscars closed on Tuesday, February 25, at 5 p.m.

HBO has snagged the North American television rights to the documentary "Seduced and Abandoned" ahead of its premiere at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, where it'll play as a special screening. Directed by James Toback ("Fingers," "Black and White," "Tyson"), "Seduced and Abandoned" was actually shot during last year's Cannes festival, and explores, according to HBO, "cinema art, money, glamor and death." Toback and Alec Baldwin, who produced the film alongside Michael Mailer, serve as the film's onscreen guides as it offers up profiles of Bernardo Bertolucci, Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Polanski, Martin Scorsese, Ryan Gosling, Jessica Chastain, Berenice Bejo, Diane Kruger and James Caan. According to HBO's Michael Lombardo, "When James and Alec set out to make this documentary, it took a different turn. What resulted is something uniquely special and wonderfully entertaining." The deal for the film was negotiated with HBO by Jeff Berg at Resolution on behalf of the.

It’s time for another update from our friends at Arrow Video, this time previewing their <ay 2012 releases which include the long-awaited Blu-ray release of the House By the Cemetary and the ArrowDrome release of The Exterminator.
The House by the Cemetery (Arrow Video) Limited Edition Blu-ray
You may have just mortgaged your life! Shock gore master Lucio Fulci’s The House by the Cemetery is one of the finest typically single-minded exercises in zombie terror. Its just a shame no-one told the Boyle family who move into a gothic style house (by a cemetery) with a bloody past and a guts spraying future, what is yet to come! You’d think they’d twig given the basement door is nailed shut that they should get the hell out. Instead they stay long enough to discover their zombified non rent-paying lodger, the cellar-dwelling, flesh-hungry Dr Freudstein and boy is he pissed!

Comic-Con International has released the full schedule for Sunday July 24th for San Diego Comic-Con 2011. This is the final day of the convention. Sunday is known as Kids day and is usually the slowest of all the days, there are a few surprises though. In all my years of going to Comic-Con I've never been to a panel in Hal H. Usually nothing is happening in Hall H on Sunday, this year there are a few TV programs going on in Hall H such a as Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Cleveland Show, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and this year Buffy the Musical will be in the great Hall as well. I've never been to the Buffy Musical event, and I think I finally want to go this year. A couple of other things worth noting are a one on one panel with Nathan Fillion, and Max Brooks talks about zombies.

My favorite item for the month is pictured above, the Sergio Aragones version of Batman from Batman: Black & White. But there are some absolute art gems here, including Darwyn Cooke’s Jsa cover, and Frank Quitely’s redoing of Gil Kane and Murphy Anderson’s cover for Green Lantern #52.
As for the rest of the books, take a look… as usual, spoilers ahead:
