You’ve been lost in the worlds created by writers Siddharth and Garima in films like Bajirao Mastani (Lyrics) and Ram-Leela. Now the incredible pair have ventured into the complex tale Raabta, directed by Dinesh Vijan and starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and Jim Sarbh. Set in two time periods, both the present and a time long ago, Raabta is about connection, re-incarnation, mystery, karma, life, and love.

Unaware of a connection that was forged over several hundred years ago, Shiv and Saira are inexplicably drawn to each other and quickly develop a beautiful and fun relationship. The third facet to their relationship emerges in the form of Zakir Merchant, a billionaire who goes...

Deepika decided to end the year on a high note by celebrating all her hard work in 2013. Its been a rollicking year of grand blockbusters and immense appreciation of her talent. We’ve seen her pull off comedy, romance and drama all in one year. The bash, as expected, brought in the best of the best to the red carpet. Gold/Black was the theme of the party and whilst many excelled at meeting the theme’s demands, others didn’t and some just ignored it. Here’s what fashion at Deepika’s Success Bash looked like.
Aamir & Kiran
Not quite sure what Aamir was playing with on the night in his hoodie, pants, boots & Dhoom 3 hat but it definitely wasn’t fashion! Wife Kiran on the other hand faired much better in a yellow midi dress. I’m guessing the yellow was the closest she had to gold in her wardrobe?...

Prabhu Dheva’s cinema is a different genre altogether – utterly unrealistic but still entertaining in its weirdness. Once again he has thrown logic and realism to the winds and come out with R…Rajkumar, a masala entertainer through and through.
A small town called Dhartipur is ruled by two warring drug mafia gangs. One day Rajkumar (Shahid Kappor) lands up there and joins the gang headed by Shivraj (Sonu Sood). He also falls in love at first sight with Chanda (Sonakshi Sinha), the niece of the other gang leader Parmar (Ashish Vidyarthi). Unfortunately for him, Shivraj falls for her too and soon the battle lines are drawn. It is either pyaar or maar for our protagonists.
R…Rajkumar has many drawbacks. It is crass, regressive in its portrayal of women, has no story to speak of, and is completely missing that little thing called logic. Yet it works because Prabhu...

It was predicted in this column last week that ‘Ram Leela’ would take an opening in the range of 50%-60% and bring in around 15 crore on the first day. This is exactly how it happened as ‘Ram Leela’ brought in 16 crore on Friday and then further gained strength over the weekend with good footfalls coming in across the country. As a result, over 50 crore were earned in the opening weekend itself, hence bringing the film in the safe zone and a sure-shot hit in the making. All that remains to be seen now is the distance that it would cover in days to follow.
As things stand today, the collections should be good on weekdays as well since audience feedback has ranged from decent to good while critical acclaim has been quite positive across most quarters. Moreover, the industry too has shown support towards this film which means all that...

New Delhi, April 19: Sample these: "Revolver Rani", "Rajkumar Rambo", "Fukrey" and "Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi". Creative and colloquial Bollywood film titles are keeping movie audiences, especially the masses, as intrigued as filmmakers want them to be.
It seems Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2012 production "Rowdy Rathore" set the pace for filmmakers to explore such titles, which were once confined to B or C-grade films. Hence, now there's a "Bullet Raja", albeit with stars like Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha playing the lead.
Bhansali recently said he is "glad other directors have started using these titles".
"Nothing cheesy about it. People erupt with ecstasy at such titles," he said, adding that "it's a wonderful.

Columnist Amitava Nag remembers his fascination with the star during his teenage years and a wanton flirtation with him owing to a quintessentially Bengali upbringing
Growing up in the late seventies and early eighties in a middle-class Bengali family infested with academicians had its own share of mis-fortunes. One for sure was the lack of permission to watch Television. Forget the mugging of TV channels on today’s kids, back then, we had to rely on Mickey Mouse, occasional Kolkata league football match and yes, the Wednesday 8 Pm Chitrahar. Rangoli was the other attraction a little later but at 7:30 Am on Sunday mornings it was never within our reach. We never had a TV of our own till the late eighties. In those momentous waits from one half hour Hindi song snippet to the next, sometime I happened to see a jumping man and a bewildering frenzied shout “Yaahooo”. No,...
