The series from UCP will adapt Elin Hilderbrand’s novel of the same name, with Bekah Brunstetter (Maid, This is Us) creating, writing and also executive producing.

The Five-Star Weekend series will center on Hollis Shaw, a famed food influencer who suffers a devastating loss. Unable to move forward, the death reveals cracks in her picture-perfect life, including a strained marriage, a complicated relationship with her daughter and her growing pursuit of validation from her followers.

To find herself again, Hollis hosts a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her twenties, thirties, and one surprise fifth star. Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, they will mature in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed.

Peacock has ordered a series adaptation of the Elin Hilderbrand novel “The Five-Star Weekend” with Jennifer Garner attached to star, Variety has learned.

The project was first reported to be in development at Peacock in April 2024 as part Sue Naegle and Ali Krug’s overall deal with UCP under their Dinner Party Productions banner.

The official description of the series states:

The show is headed for an out-of-town-tryout at the Manchester Opera House, where it will run for a limited season from September 21, 2025.

Judy Greer, Sean Astin, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman have all signed on to star in the upcoming dark comedy feature Chili Finger, with first-timers Edd Benda and Stephen Helstad to co-direct. Helstad wrote the script and Goodman is an executive producer. Additional castmembers Sarah Herrman and Paul Stanko are currently attached, with production slated to begin next spring. The film is produced by Beyond the Porch and Gold Tree Studios.

Chili Finger tells the story of a recently empty-nested mother (Greer) who discovers a human finger in her bowl of fast-food chili. When she blackmails the restaurant for a cash payout, the situation spirals out of control and her life descends into chaos.

So far, Astin, Cranston and Goodman’s characters are being kept under wraps.

“We couldn’t ask for a better cast to bring our quirky dark comedy to the big screen,” said co-directors Benda and Helstad.

Burnett, who also wrote the movie, commences production this week in Los Angeles. Pic follows a veteran Hollywood actor (Marc Maron) who, after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis, becomes obsessed with securing a spot in the Academy Awards’ “In Memoriam” montage. Sometimes, a coming-of-age film like My Old Ass helps us understand not only our past but our future. Even one that, as I have written many times before, makes you appreciate what you have and long for what you don’t. The exception is that My Old Ass is hardly manipulative.

In fact, Megan Park’s hilarious, vibrant, and overall heart-rendering tale is far from it. There are moments of familial authenticity that ring true throughout the picture. Nothing is more genuine than an older version of yourself counseling your youthful exuberance about how time is fleeting.

Media company Content Partners has launched new business division Content Partners Capital, a sector focused on providing private capital solutions for businesses and IP assets in the entertainment industry.

Banking exec Alphonse Lordo has joined Content Partners as a head of the new division overseeing the origination and portfolio management of private credit opportunities. Cpc will be targeting IP-heavy business models across film, TV, and music and will invest under various credit structures to accommodate a company’s capital needs. The division has already provided debt financing to Media Capital Technologies to support its film slate transaction with Lionsgate.

Best known as the owner of Revolution Studios, co-owner of the “CSI” TV franchise and rights holder for films including “13 Going on 30,” “Black Hawk Down,” “Black Swan” and more films, Content Partners owns over 500 films, approximately 3,000 hours of television, and a library of titles that represents more than $33 billion of worldwide box office revenue.

The “Elektra” star documented her 72-minute claustrophobic nightmare in a seven-part series on her Instagram account over the weekend.

“I could use a Wolverine. I could use a Deadpool. I could use someone,” she pleaded in a video just two minutes after being stuck in an elevator at San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday.

“I think I heard on an episode of ‘The Office’ or ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ or something that you’re supposed to sit, so we’re sitting,” the actress said after 35 minutes of being tucked into the corner of the crowded elevator, full of people and luggage.

Jennifer Garner, 52, wasn’t exactly eager to work with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, 51, when they were married. The Family Switch star explained her reasoning in a 2010 interview, saying that although she thought the Oscar winner was “brilliant,” she didn’t want to change their relationship by being on set together.
