Disney+ has dropped first-look images for its upcoming U.K. original series “The Stolen Girl,” a psychological thriller toplining Denise Gough, Holliday Grainger, Ambika Mod and Jim Sturgess.
The five-part limited series, previously developed under the working title “Playdate,” comes from scribe Catherine Moulton (“Baptiste”) and helmer Eva Husson (“Mothering Sunday”). The project adapts Alex Dahl’s bestselling page-turner “Playdate.”
The story follows Elisa, a mother whose world implodes after her nine-year-old daughter Lucia vanishes during what was meant to be an innocent sleepover. The seemingly perfect host mother Rebecca, along with her daughter Josie, disappear without a trace – leaving behind only a vacant holiday rental where their supposed family home once stood.
As authorities launch a Europe-wide search, scrutiny falls heavily on Elisa and her husband Fred while family secrets bubble to the surface. Narrative promises to explore whether Rebecca’s shocking actions could have deeper justification than initially apparent.

Rod Stewart is taking aim at Gregg Wallace, accusing the former U.K. “Celebrity MasterChef” host of “humiliating” his wife Penny Lancaster, who was on the BBC show in 2021 and was eliminated during the quarter-finals.
“Good Riddance Wallace … You humiliated my wife when she was on the show, but you had that part cut out didn’t you?,” the British pop and rock singer and song writer wrote in an Instagram post. “You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got you.”

Gregg Wallace, a host on the U.K. version of BBC’s “MasterChef,” is stepping down from his role amid an investigation launched this week into “historical allegations of misconduct.”
According to production company Banijay UK, the BBC received complaints from individuals in relation to “historical allegations of misconduct while working with presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our shows.”
“Whilst these complainants have not raised the allegations directly with our show producers or parent company Banijay U.K., we feel that it is appropriate to conduct an immediate, external review to fully and impartially investigate,” the company said in a statement. “While this review is under way, Gregg Wallace will be stepping away from his role on MasterChef and is committed to fully co-operating throughout the process.”
The investigation comes after BBC News reported that the 60-year-old was accused by 13 different people of making inappropriate sexual comments to co-workers over a period of 17 years.

I did wonder how well Good Omens would translate from book to screen. Well, it worked, and now we’re ready to see how it all comes to an end. Well, sort of. We’re not “ready” ready, but it does need an ending.
This is one of those series that can’t be duplicated. There isn’t anything else out there that matches the energy, but there are a fair few shows that come somewhat close. It all depends on the elements you want to gain from Good Omens in other works.
Here are six shows worth watching.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Picard." It also contains references to domestic and child abuse, so reader discretion is advised.
Art often imitates life, but in the case of "Star Trek: Picard," that seems completely intentional. The series has completely blurred the lines between Jean-Luc Picard, the Starfleet officer who likes his Earl Grey hot, and Patrick Stewart, the British actor who has become a worldwide treasure. The series deals heavily with the idea of legacy, and the third season has dug into the concept even further as Picard reconciles the fact that he has a long-lost son, Jack Crusher (Ed Speelers). Picard had a difficult childhood and contentious relationship with his own father (as detailed in season 2 of "Picard"), and it's clear that the idea of fatherhood makes him uneasy as a result. Stewart has been honest about his own struggles in childhood as well, revealing that...

Pose star Billy Porter got emotional on the season premiere of NBC‘s Who Do You Think You Are? as he uncovered some traumatic family secrets. During the episode, Porter talked with Ancestry Family Historian / Genealogist Nicka Sewell-Smith about what really happened to his great-grandfather, Thomas Henry Richardson. “I do remember hearing a story that my great-grandfather got shot in the back,” Porter recalled (via Yahoo). “That’s as far as the conversation went.” Sewell-Smith informed Porter that white newspapers at the time wrote stories “in a particular way” that differed from Black newspapers and showed him a report from the Pittsburgh Courier that identified that Porter’s great-grandfather was shot and killed by a police officer. The story revealed that the Emmy-winning actor’s great-grandfather was shot in the breast, not his back. “Investigation discloses fact that white police officer ‘with reputation for shooting’ killed Joseph Richardson in cold blood,...

The future of high-profile unscripted NBC series including Amy Poehler’s Making It and Kristen Bell’s Family Game Fight! is up in the air as the network has indefinitely parked them.

Visual effects and animation studio Dneg, whose credits include “Dune” and “No Time to Die,” will pay enhanced overtime to its U.K. employees.
From October, Dneg will pay overtime at 1.5x rate to all U.K. staff in non-management positions for all incremental time that they are asked to work beyond the standard 40-hour week. The move will bring Dneg’s U.K. overtime policy in line with its studios in North America and applies across its film and episodic visual effects, Dneg Animation and ReDefine operations, including its artist, production, technology and support teams.
The decision is a departure from the existing U.K. industry norm, where employees are compensated for overtime with paid time off after a project is completed.
Dneg has won multiple awards over the years. In 2021 alone, the company won the visual effects BAFTA and Oscar for Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet.”

Anita has worked passionately to highlight the plight of the forcibly displaced, having supported the organisation since 2017.
“The plight of refugees is really close to my heart,” Anita said. “People everywhere are reeling from the pandemic, but imagine facing Covid when you’ve been forcibly displaced and don’t have a place to call home. Conditions for refugees are deteriorating and their numbers are rising; globally, there are over 80 million people displaced by conflict and persecution. I’m humbled to be able to do whatever I can to make sure they are not forgotten.”

Exclusive: Dan Bucatinsky is returning to ABC’s Thursday lineup.
The actor, who won an Emmy for his recurring role on Tgit drama Scandal, has joined the cast of ABC’s new Katey Sagal-starring series Rebel, which earlier today was slotted in the Thursday 10 Pm slot starting April 8. He is coming off a series regular role on another ABC series, The Baker and the Beauty.
Created by Krista Vernoff inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich today, Rebel centers on Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal), a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Bucatinsky will play Jason Erickson, an edgy, somewhat bitter university professor who Rebel (Sagal) seeks out to enlist his help.
