Singer-songwriter Jessica Simpson recently spoke about an awkward encounter with a fan. She took to her Instagram, and shared that she had just been approached by an autograph seeker during an outing to the mall.
However, as it turned out, it was a case of mistaken identity. “The face when someone in the parking lot at the mall asks you for your autograph, but expects you to sign it, ‘Britney Spears’” Simpson quipped, alongside a photo of her and daughter Maxwell Drew, 11, making exaggerated shocked faces for the camera, reports ‘People’ magazine.
It’s not all that surprising that a fan might get the two pop stars mixed up. They both rose to fame on the music scene around the same time in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and share a few other notable things in common, including their bright blonde hair, dark brown eyes, Southern roots and childhood...

Spears' Libel Lawsuit Dismissed
Pop star Britney Spears saw her libel challenge against a US magazine dismissed yesterday when a judge ruled a report about her sex tape wasn't defamatory. The singer was outraged by an October 2005 article in Us Weekly which claimed Spears and her husband Kevin Federline had made a racy video together and feared a member of their entourage would leak it. The couple reportedly gave a copy of the tape to lawyers and watched it with them. Spears' suit insisted, "The article is libelous on its face, since it maliciously and recklessly portrays (Spears) as acting 'goofy' while watching (the video with attorneys)." But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Hart Cole dismissed the $10 million damages claim, ruling the singer's raunchy reputation was in place before the Us Weekly article. She said, "It is clear that plaintiff did not bring this lawsuit because she was falsely accused of acting goofy. The issue is whether it is defamatory to state that a husband and wife taped themselves engaging in consensual sex." She concluded, "(Spears) put her modern sexuality squarely, and profitably, before the public eye," citing racy scenes in her 2005 reality TV show Britney & Kevin: Chaotic as evidence.

Federline's TV Dreams
Britney Spears' husband Kevin Federline is making his acting debut as a thug on TV show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The 28-year-old dancer, whose first album Playing With Fire is set to be released in October, began shooting the role last week. It is due to be shown on TV later this year. Federline says, "This is pretty much my first time acting. It's the first time I've actually had a speaking role. I was doing stuff for the Teen Choice Awards and got the call while we were rehearsing and I p**sed in my pants! I was excited right off the bat. It's the only show that I really, really watch." Federline will play an arrogant teen in the episode, who harasses investigators Nick Stokes (George Eads) and Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) on a job. He has previously starred with wife Spears in their own reality show, Britney & Kevin: Chaotic, which aired in 2005.

UPN's 'Chaotic' ratings lowest yet
Even with only reruns to compete with, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline cannot draw a crowd for UPN. Britney & Kevin: Chaotic fell to its lowest ratings yet in its third outing for UPN on Tuesday. Chaotic averaged 2.5 million viewers and 1.1 rating/3 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic. That marked a drop of a half-million viewers from last week. At 9:30 p.m., the news didn't get any better for sitcom The Bad Girl's Guide, which also fell from its inauspicious debut last week to an average of 1.5 million viewers and 0.6/2 in the demo.
