This occult horror movie had promise, but the dependence of the supposedly shocking reveal that was briefly announced earlier just did not succeed in turning this movie into one of those "ah ha" moments. Instead, surprisingly not a lot of thrills and actions explode as the movie continues onward. There are efforts and intriguing moments and scenes, but they instead seem to be too disjointed, confusing, and underdeveloped. Even the quarter of a century old End of Days (1999) has more energetic and potent horror that drips from the screen. The Seventh Day cannot be recommended because the movie is oversold to the put of being a let down by the end. Father Daniel's character portrayal really just does not seem up to the part and how the movie develops.

While the subject has been explored in other movies, the Rite of Exorcism is, by itself, a very complex theme to reproduce. Some might call this movie a cliché or a waste of time, but it goes through another route altogether. It's not the "goes to the house exorcise demons" routine. If it could have been better handled? Yes, it could. There's some loose ends to the story. However, I did find it refreshing. Above all, never watch a movie with high expectations. No matter the subject, take it for what it is: Entertainment.

I agree with the other reviewers- this film had no energy, a cliche plot, and the co-lead (Father Daniel) was awful. I was looking forward to this film and it was a let down. In the over-saturated genre of exorcism movies, there is nothing to make this movie stand apart from the others.

The only slight redeeming factor in this was Guy Pierce, and even he wasn't that good.

The only evil you'll encounter in this film is the script and it's truly diabolical. The dialogue, stilted delivery (probably due to the actors being in shock) and storyline would make Ed Wood proud. I sat through this so you wouldn't have to - but trust me, hell would be watching this film on a continuous loop for eternity.

The Seventh Day is a bad horror film. With dull acting. Boring plot which is no different than any other exorcism movie. Guy Pearce talent is wasted in this film.

They literally made no effort to make this scary, or I don't know use some black contact lenses or something.. I think the director even gave up.

This is a very good film

Watch it, and make up your own mind what the low ratings are all about.

The acting is exceptional...ly bad, the movie is boring and predictable, it's just a lame exorcist ripoff, the script is cliche, and I wanted Keith David and there was a total lack of Keith David, they literally put him in the top billed cast... and killed him off in the first 10 minutes! Really bad movie.

If you like the genre then this movie will keep your attention from the first until the last minute. - I gave the movie an 8/10 because the ending did not satisfy me but I have been enjoying my self by watching this movie.

I have to admit and I do understand that many are reluctant or not really on board with the movie. Any movie that has exorcism in it ... at least horror fans immediately think of the Friedkin classic The Exorcist ... and I don't think there is one movie yet, that has surpassed that movie yet! Yes it is that good ... there are some movies that are good in their own rights ... but never topping that powerhouse of a movie that set so many milestones and is justifiably considered one of the best horror movies of all time.

Having said all that, there is more here than just exorcism and I hope the viewers can see that too. It is not a great movie, but it is a pretty decent one. I guess I could have gone with a 6 rating (I still might), but I am known for mostly being nice when it comes to rating and reviewing stuff ... Having Guy Pearce in this really lends this much needed gravitas ... and certain things make more sense towards the end of it.

Nobody expected anything of this movie and still ends up disappointing.

Everything is wrong with this movie, the photography, the performances are awful, Vadhir and Guy always have the same expression during the entire movie. The script is horrible and predictable, of terror it has nothing, the jumpscares are predictable, the plot is not well defined, there is no logic in what happens, the characters act stupid in any situation, the make up es awful, in the first act the dialogues are large and tedious, I think that there is nothing redeemable of this movie. In conclusion it's a boring movie that nobody has to see.

The Seventh Day is an exorcist film that makes me wish somebody would steal my soul so that I don't have to witness films like this one. The film tries extremely hard to be scary and unique yet it simply is not either of these things. I struggled so hard to sit through this film as it is chalk full of clichés and tries to hard to be like other exorcism films that are simply, well... better. Now, with all of that being said I am a positive person and do like to see the good in everything. There are some decent moments within this film (though I could count them on one hand) and the acting isn't terrible. Other than those two things I wouldn't recommend that anyone watch this film, definitely not worth it.

Had potential but then it got ridiculous. If you're gonna try to be hard edge and make a movie about demonic possession at least study up and have the rites of exorcism done correctly . Started off interesting but got lazy and lame. Watch the original masterpiece if you want a scare-and if you really want a scare go read 'Hostage To The Devil ' by Malachi Martin 5 documented exorcisms in the United States.

The scripts in Hollywood are getting thin I'm sure and this is nothing but a payday film.

Mix the newbie with the old pro, standard excorcism plot elements, and then the requisite twist (that isn't difficult to determine fairly early in the film), and you have The Seventh Day. Earnestly made and acted, the lack of new ideas to bring to film, either as an excorcism film or a film in general, unfortunately undoes what the elements are trying to become.

I love possession and ghost movies, this one fails to effectively deliver the chills and "evil". The idea which emerges late into the film was a good one, and i think they could have done a lot more with it, but ultimately just fizzles out with a minor 'wtf' moment with the actual fate of one of the main characters.

"Wars Need Armies...armies Need Soldiers." I liked this a lot more then I think I should have. Good jumps, nice exorcisms, and a great kill scene made for a solid possession film. Guy Pierce and Stephen Lang shine in their roles, but the other lead was a monotone contrast that was not impressive. Don't let that sour the grapes...just skip it and eat the rest of the bunch.

This movie is quite awful, I wasn't expecting much but it is very cringe.

Reviews based on what they saw with lack of any knowledge whatsoever, it is not a scary movie, it is rather an intelligent take from the other side, sure not many will get it, watch it yourself and make your own mind up, I enjoyed it.

I was so excited to see Guy Pearce's name attached to a horror film, esp exorcism related. Unfortunately the film's flow and writing were just below average. The plot twist tho was refreshing. It wasnt the worst (you know the ones - acting is so bad, effects worse etc) but no where near the really good ones. It is a one time watch. I really hope for a upgraded part 2.
