On the 3rd of September 2021, BBC One confirmed that the UK version of Pooch Perfect would not be returning for a second series. A spokesperson for the broadcaster stated "Pooch Perfect brought plenty of light relief to viewers during lockdown and whilst the show won't be returning for another series, we'd like to thank Sheridan, the judges, animal experts, groomers and pet owners plus the entire team at Beyond Productions for bringing such joy to our screens at a time when we needed it most."

A new low for the BBC

Whilst reality TV is generally exploitative of people's desire to appear on TV even at the cost of their dignity, at least it is their own decision. This programme exploits animals in a degrading way and represents a new low in reality TV. If this is where the BBC is going, it is perhaps time for the BBC to look for alternative funding rather than using the license fee to produce this appalling exploitative rubbish.
