People rating this due to the dubbing need to learn how to read. It is an option with Netflix to watch in original language with subtitles. Here's a hint. If you hate dubbing and subtitles don't watch foreign movies.

I kept wishing that the annoying little girl get eaten by the elves.
The story and idea is great, the setting, the music and the slow reveal of the creatures are amazing. However, the acting... Especially that girl was terrible. She did everything you should not do.
I was really rooting for the monsters to get her.

Watch this movie for the answer.
Come for the Christmas monster series.
Stay to root for the monsters.
The season we all find ourselves come together with one holiday wish - Let Josie die.

Imagine having a great concept for a fantasy horror show and ruining it with cliched characters and bad acting.
Here's a plot summary: People get killed because disobedient child thinks murderous monsters are pets.

One of the worse shows ever. Just read all the previous awful reviews. I cannot say better. I have never wanted to see characters die on screen as much as I have with this annoying family. SKIP!!!!

Elves: A Danish horror series, a family from Copenhagen go to a remote island for Christmas. This is no ordinary isle, the locals are keeping a secret, the local forest creatures , the Elves, are kept behind an electrified fence. Cattle are given as sacrifices to appease the wood dwellers. The tourists upset the balance when the tourist family daughter, Josefine, tries to adopt an injured infant Elf. The adult Elves are like burrow dwelling killer apes they bite out throats, feast on their human prey even while they still live. Quite dark and the horror level is certainly adult even if the intended audience is teenage. Reminiscent of The Wicker Man in parts but here the locals are unwelcoming and warn the family off from the start. Directed by Ron Ezra with Stefan Jaworski as head writer. Six 25 minute episodes on Netflix. 7/10.
This Danish series is centred on a family who are holidaying on a remote island. When they arrive they ask how to get to their accommodation and are advised to take the coastal road; the father decides to ignore the advice and takes the road through the islands forested interior. Here their car hits something. Josefine, the daughter thinks it was a creature of some sort but her father insists it was just a pothole. When she gets out of the car and heads towards a large fence a local calls her back. He tells the family that the road is private and they should leave immediately. Later Josefine returns and finds a strange little creature; she takes it back and cares for it. When the locals learn that a creature has been taken from the forest they worry; it would appear that it is a baby of a very dangerous species; the adults of which will be angered.
I thought this series was rather fun. There are only six episodes, of twenty five minutes, so it can easily be watched in one or two sittings. The story is fairly simple but effective. I liked the idea of a Christmas movie about vicious elves... a bit like the monstrous Santa Claus in Finnish film 'Rare Exports'; if not quite as disturbing. The setting is good; an island automatically adds a sense of claustrophobia and explains why these creatures might not be widely known about. The cast is solid; as there aren't too many characters one is unlikely to ever get confused about who is who. The effects are good; thankfully the makers didn't feel the need to show the adult elves too early on; keeping them mysterious added to their creepiness. Overall a fun little series that is well worth watching if you want something a little darker at Christmas.
These comments are based on watching the series in Danish with English subtitles.

Creatures were interesting (puppets and CG), and creep factor was pretty good. But, could have made it better as a movie, and with a bit tighter writing. Some content is just not suitable for the long form of TV series.

The fact that this annoying little girl wasn't eaten by elves is very disappointing,it would be the one and only thing that would save this series for me.

I love the elves especially the little guy the acting is mediocre at best but it's a low budget production about evil elves so you're not going to get Daniel day lewis to star in it. The dubbing doesn't help either but we watched all 6 episodes and binged them only 6 episodes and only 30 minutes each so it was easy. Wish it would have been 8 1 hour shows they could have done so much more!! We're hoping for a season 2 as it just started to rick!! Lately we only like shows from other countries American shows and films have become so plastic so cookie cutter so Hollywood so ehh!!
Elves replace zombies in this Danish childish thriller. Childish perhaps but good fun for adults too.
The plot revolves around a family visiting a remote Danish island inhabited by meat eating elves. The adventures of the young daughter starts a series of unfortunate events and .. you'll have to watch it to know the rest!

I have never in my life felt so much hatred for a movie character. This idiotic selfish bratt destroyed an entire island community with her rose colored glasses BS mentality and got to walk off in the end without being portrayed as the antagonist in this movie.
I spent every minute of the movie wishing the most horrendous deaths upon Josie and to a lesser degree to her beta parents. Now I feel robbed off a good ending. I hope that elf baby grows up and ends up killing her entire family and most of Denmark. Season 3 can then pivot to focus on Jose in a rehab home while facing her mental health issues as she is battling PTSD and survivors guilt.
