All the cast is good, with JKY as usual on a different level, raising his character often to a tragic figure until the closure. LHR is often very funny and charming. The problem is the uneven writing with predictable and repetitive episodes in the second half. The series could have been stronger at 12 episodes. But I do recommend it as enjoyable most of the time.

This drama will keep a smile in your face the whole time.
First of all HYERI literally rocks any rol, she literally transforms herself into everything character she plays and is just so refreshing to watch, pure joy! She is hilarious and her expressions are everything. In this drama the chemistry between her and the male lead ( Jang Ki Yong) is just contagious. It helps that the guy is just so damn handsome you will melt with his smiles.
Sometimes the secondary stories in a drama are just boring and you want to skip them but here the secondary actors steal the show often and that makes it wholesome. Great acting and very funny moments from them.
I found the script a bit predictable at times and you expect the ending very soon ( that's why I gave a 9 and not a 10) but again it compensates with all the funny and sweet moments.
I enjoyed watching this.

The Good:
The female lead (Hyeri Lee) is so cute and has a positively radiant smile. You really wanted things to work out for her. Her energy was infectious.
The 2nd female lead (Han-Na Kong) is truly beautiful and her acting deftly navigates the line between being worldly and a bit ignorant. That must be really hard to pull off, but she does it so well - it was a lot of fun to watch! I just loved her expression when she realized she had said something silly or ignorant. I'll look for her as a lead in other dramas.
One of the second male leads, Do-Wan Kim, also really helps make this series work. His character is kind of a dork, but you can't help but love him and root for him.
One thing I did appreciate were the comedic elements. They really kept it fun even when (as noted below) things tended to drag a bit.
The Sub-Optimal The story dragged a bit in the middle. My wife and I both thought that they could have cut a couple of episodes. For a few episodes it just felt like it wasn't going anywhere, or maybe it went back and forth. It was actually a bit hard to remain invested in the main couple. In fact, I found myself caring more about the second couple (Do-Wan Kim and Han-Na Kang) and rooting for them to get together! :-)
The love triangle. Gad, I hate love triangles. Although I think In-Hyuk Bae's acting was great, and his role was pretty critical to the story, it still annoyed the heck out of me. But that is probably just me and I know lots of folks are into the tension a love triangle brings. It happens All The Time in KDramas, but IRL not too much. There is enough drama in couples' relationships that adding the love triangle element is mostly just a distraction. Oh well...
Overall I liked the series and was glad I watched it. Parts were very fun and it wrapped up well. But it could have been more tightly written.

I started watching the drama because of Jang ki yong but I am loving how Lee Dam role has acted so hilarious I can't. Ugh 6 episodes have been gone I can't get over the drama. I don't want it end so soon. That Gumiho is the prettiest thing I hAve seen so handsomeXD.

Cute and funny at times this show would have been fine as a 12 episoder. The drag in the second half was painful.
The cast is better than the story. Kang Ha Na as the female former gumiho steals the scene as a secondary lead not in a triangle thank goodness.
Hyeri gives a lively performance. She is a good actress. Jang Ki Yong is okay in a cutesy rom com role.
If only it had been shortened.

Ok so Tvn gave us 2 fantasy romance drama at the same time! (My favourite genre). Which is "Doom At Your Service" & this one! I started watching both but I was literally hooked by "Doom At Your Service "..it was hot-passionate romance in dark fantasy! I loved it & it was a masterpiece! Then here comes totally different romantic fantasy "my roommate is a gumiho "! It's lightweight Cute Romance with light fantasy! ML is mythical creature "Gumiho"& FL is a normal girl with hilarious personality ! First 6 episodes of days were like most interesting episodes but here 1st 6 episodes were a little bit slow like same things were happening again but it's getting better in epi7 & I'm really excited for next episodes! My ratings for this drama can become higher than this or can become lower also! It depends! (There are not any spoiler! I just shared my feelings about this drama)

I love it. One thing I most liked about this drama is its comedy. There are so many comic scenes which are fresh and new. I loved the clumsy behaviour of the girl and smile of Orushin is so charming. Thumbs up.

I have just seen episode 8. The series is getting tedious, endlessly repeating the same tropes. And ignoring the Gumiho ground rules which it constantly emphasized.
On the other hand all the actors are terrific. Especially the female lead. The music and cinematography are excellent.

At first I had doubts about this series because I didn't really like the music in this series. But I really loved the story and the ending.

I'll be honest, I'm currently at episode 14 and I am FORCING myself to finish it. The only reason I started it was because of Jang Ki Yong but even he isn't keeping me interested at this point.
The female lead is annoying as hell, she seems like she's about 16 and acts that way too. In contrast the male lead could be in his 30s and so the pairing is just odd.
The story.... I watched this after Tale of the Nine Tailed and I much preferred that tale of a Gumiho, I feel like this was repetitive and predictable.
Watch this for the hot lead but not so much for the lukewarm story.

After episode 8 I have wasted every second of my life for watching this series. Worst screenplay ever. Don't get me wrong I have laughed hard in funny moments. The comedy was great.
A gumiho has less then one year to turn into a human or just dissipate into thin air. A young student swallows his bead accidentally whilst drunk and they end up living together because of this. This is how they first meet and from there the adventure begins. The gumiho is played by the handsome Jang Ki-yong and the student is played by the adorable Hyeri. It is an entertaining tale with a very good supporting cast and the pace and script leaves you interested but Hyeri is the star with her straight talking and love for food and good humour. Definitely worth a watch as you watch the convincing relationship between the leads evolve.

In most series there is one episode or character that ruins it slightly. Sometimes a great cast ad concept just doesn't do it for you...think hyde jekyll and me. It's subjective of course and different for everyone.
For me personnally this THE best fantasy romcom I have seen bar none. Everything just clicks for me, I love it. Obviously from the reviews not everyone agrees but I can watch this over and over. First time seeing Hyeri and I thought she was outstanding. The rest of the cast were also excellent. I have no problem rating this a TEN.

It was a little cringy for me honestly! I am a big kdrama fan but it didn't go with my expectations! Well still it's ok if u r new in kdrama world or series world ...I watched it for 10 episodes! Then I skipped! It's cute , lightweight...but if you are a person who loves passionate, a little toxic but hot Romance than this is not for you! It was kinda funny! So overall 6.

Cute, fun, and sweet, this show was a pleasant surprise and definitely better than I expected. I think perhaps the hype around it and the poster put me off, but something drew me to the show eventually, and I am so glad I ended up watching it! The story is fun and engaging, I was never bored and the show felt properly distributed through all 16 episodes. The main couple were super cute and exploding with chemistry. The relationship was built naturally and realistically, and both leads were good actors who gave satisfying performances. The side characters were well developed as well, and added to the story in just the right way. The soundtrack was enjoyable as well, and there were some really nice cinematography moments throughout.
All in all it was a completely satisfying watch that I would recommend!

Overall this was a good series. The acting was great and I found myself laughing out loud at many scenes. The script was good at first but at the second half it was like they run out of ideas and there were some filler scenes that had no purpose. The story could have developed much better but if you want to watch a lightweight rom-com I am sure you will enjoy it.

Shin Woo Yeo is a gumiho who lived for 999 years, he has been trying to become human by absorbing energy from humans but hasn't succeeded yet. One day he meets an interesting girl Lee Dam who is a carefree person. Lee Dam accidentally becomes the carrier of Woo Yeo's marble and agrees to stay with him for the time being until he finds out a way to take out the marble. But things turn around as they both fall in love.
It is a nice series where comedy, drama and romance is involved. I found the first half of the series very funny and the second half is a mix of romance and drama. The second lead couple is also cute and stands on par with the lead couples. Overall, it is a good series worthwhile.

My Roommate is a Gumiho has an interesting storyline and good humor, but I wouldn't say it stands out as a K-Drama. Standard love triangle, typical obstacles the main leads face, and the usual personality types of the male lead (stoic, caring, and jealous) and female lead (cute, funny, and naïve). While Jang Ki-Yong's acting could be better (he's a bit bland), Hyeri absolutely steals the show. This all being said, it's definitely entertaining and enjoyable, especially if you like K-Dramas.

Well the thing i liked the most about it was the FL character, she was hilarious and very cute. Apart from that this is like many other typical k dramas.
The story is a bit predictable, but still it is very enjoyable. ML and FL have good chemistry and the side characters are also quite good.
It has a good amount of romance and very genuine comedy as well. Overall i think the show became a bit slow at mid stage and seemed like the story was stuck but fortunately it has a good and kind of satisfying ending.

Korean Drama ' My Roommate is a Gumiho ' has a strong start, but gets tedious after a while. Actually, the only thing that kept things interesting on the second half was the second couple, which was adorable. Other than that, the twists were repeatable, the ending unoriginal and the whole gumiho story boring and wasn't expended enough to have a proper worldbuilt, even though there was a lot of material to work with.
Nevertheless, the first half was pretty great. The comedy was entertaining, the characters cute and likable, they had chemistry and the cohabitation was spot on. Also, another nice point was that the girl's behavior towards the gumiho was kind of realistic, as she didn't play it up and become the hero and oppose everything. Rather, she knew with whom she was dealing with and she knew where she stood until she got to know him enough to be more friendly with him. So, that was a nice touch and refreshing. But, it should be pointed out that even though the leading lady did a great job with her performance, her character was given too many comedy aspects to make her a caricature more often than not. The male lead was also enjoyable, funny, quiet and sweet. The second lead had potential, but the love triangle was a dead end to begin with.
So, overall, five out of ten.

A story about magical & powerful in love with a human. They are total opposite.
Watch this drama mainly because of Jang ki-yong after watching his drama "Now we are breaking up". He is so diversified, he can play different roles with different lead actress & he can really portrays his romantic side. Here he is so handsome when smiles.
First time watch the leading actress, she is so cute.
There a senior guy who is also attracted to her who is also her opposite. He is also handsome.
The 2nd couple/supporting casts, the lead bestfriend & the human lady is so cute together. Both are blockhead but cute blockhead! He cries alot that ends up funny sometimes.
It can long for some but thats how each different couple relationship built up. Afterall it's all about being human. To Sacrifice, to have passion, to have devotion & to love.
It's a good light hearted romantic drama.
