It’s weird to find an animal outside of its natural habitat. A penguin floating around the International Space Station instead of waddling through the Antarctic. A kangaroo in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles instead of hopping across the Outback. A skunk in the White House instead of… actually, no, that one fits. Anyway, it’s also weird to find a mediocre straight-to-dvd action movie inside of a major movie theater, instead of in the bargain bin at a Big Lots in 2010.
All of that is to say that “Flight Risk” is a bit of a novelty. It’s a sometimes competent, mostly not, low-concept aerial thriller about a U.S. Marshal escorting a mob witness in a tiny chartered plane over the wilds of Alaska. A few minutes into the flight they figure out the pilot is actually an assassin with an embarrassing haircut. For the rest...

Pamela Anderson is in the middle of a heck of a comeback and after the Golden Globe and SAG Awards nominations, she’s becoming an Awards frontrunner in the packed lead actress category for her acclaimed performance in “The Last Showgirl.” Directed by Gia Coppola (“Palo Alto”), the drama stars Anderson as Shelley, a Las Vegas showgirl living her dream on stage until her show abruptly closes after three decades, calling into question the life she loves and sacrificed just about everything else for.
The film earned a Golden Globe nomination for Anderson, as well Best Original Song for Miley Cyrus’ “Beautiful that Way.” Now, Anderson and co-star Jamie Curtis earned SAG Award nominations, for Female Actor in a Leading Role and Female Actor in a Supporting Role, respectively. Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd also star.

The Action Scene explores the form, history, and visceral power of action cinema through its set pieces.Clockwise from top left: Boy Kills World, Life After Fighting, Blade of Fury, Black Storm. This past year may have been the decade’s strongest yet for action scenes. There are 323 feature films eligible for the upcoming Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Monday, though a whopping 36% of those – 116 feature films – are not eligible for consideration in the Best Picture category.
The discrepancy between films that have qualified for the top category and films that are eligible in other categories comes either because the filmmakers did not attempt to qualify – likely the case for several documentary, animated or international films. Or because of new eligibility rules that require Best Picture candidates to meet additional benchmarks for diversity and inclusion. This is the second year that Representation and Inclusion Standards (Raise) have been enforced, though they did not appear to disqualify any serious contenders in the category.
Among titles excluded from Best Picture consideration are Andrea Arnold’s “Bird,” starring Barry Keoghan, Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut “Woman of the Year,” Michael Keaton’s directorial debut “Knox Goes Away,...

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Virgin River season 6!
During the newest season of Virgin River, one episode serves as a backdoor pilot to the first-ever spinoff set within the Virgin River universe. Since its 2019 debut, Virgin River has gained a significant fanbase, leading to six seasons, with season 7 already on the way. The show follows Mel, a nurse practitioner, who moves to the titular town and falls in love with Jack Sheridan, a marine turned bar owner.
Virgin River had the potential for different lead characters, considering the books by Robyn Carr switch main characters, but Netflix has chosen to focus instead on Mel and Jack. However, this leaves plenty of room for spinoffs set within the same town. Luckily, one is already in the works, and Virgin River season 6 provided it with a backdoor pilot that helps audiences know what to expect.

From Paul and Feyd’s climactic knife fight in Dune: Part Two to Lucius and Macrinus’ climactic swordfight in Gladiator II, the movies of 2024 have brought a bunch of great fight scenes. A good fight scene can really invigorate an audience. It’s a chance for stunt choreographers to get creative, and it can be a crowd-pleasing moment when a noble hero violently triumphs over a despicable villain.
2024 has delivered both gruesome, blood-soaked fight scenes, like the nightclub sequence in Monkey Man, and hilarious slapstick set-pieces, like the cartoonish saloon brawl in Hundreds of Beavers. There were even great fight scenes in non-action movies, like the body horror opus The Substance. From the final showdown in Boy Kills World to the multiversal mayhem of Deadpool & Wolverine, 2024’s movies have been jam-packed with well-staged fight scenes.

Bill Skarsgård will star in the crime thriller Dead Man’s Wire, which leapfrogs director Gus Van Sant’s planned collaboration with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Gus Van Sant hasn’t directed a film in several years now, with the American filmmaker most recently having made several episodes of Feud: Capote Vs The Swans for the small screens.
A few months ago, we heard that the director of My Own Private Idaho and Good Will Hunting would be reuniting with the stars of the latter film, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, to make Killing Gawker, an adaptation of Ryan Holiday’s book, Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, And The Anatomy of Intrigue.
That project will chart the real-life tale of how billionaire libertarian Peter Thiel used Hulk Hogan as his proxy to sue gossip website Gawker out of existence after it released a sex tape of the legendary wrestler.

Bill Skarsgård's string of disappointing movies on Rotten Tomatoes is being rectified by his upcoming acclaimed horror movie - Nosferatu. The upcoming story of Nosferatu is a remake of the horror classic from 1922 and directed by Robert Eggers. Robert Eggers' highly-ranked movies of the 2010s and 2020s have seen him become one of the more acclaimed horror directors working in Hollywood today, causing many to highly anticipate Nosferatu.
One of the big reasons for this anticipation is the actor portraying the titular character, Bill Skarsgård. Skarsgård's many horror movies and shows have made him somewhat of a modern veteran in the genre, with the actor capable of committing himself entirely to dark roles in a way man cannot. However, recent movies have underperformed critically for Skarsgård despite his performances never dipping, meaning Nosferatu's strong reviews have finally broken the cold streak.

If you were an Internet 1.0 denizen, and/or you count yourself among the fans of geek culture, then 2015's "Kung Fury" is probably a favorite of yours. The short film written, directed by, and starring Swedish filmmaker David Sandberg, is a clever and vibrant homage to '80s action movies. A sort of collision between a meme, an Adult Swim special, a parody film, and a fan film (complete with its own underdog Kickstarter crowdfunding origin story) that beat the odds, "Kung Fury" features the involvement of celebrities like Jorma Taccone (of The Lonely Island) and David Hasselhoff, lending a bit of legitimate star power to what otherwise may have been seen as a curious goof. All this is to say that "Kung Fury" is thoroughly delightful, and its short length only helps make the prospect of a sequel more interesting.
As it turns out, "Kung Fury 2" became way...

Though no one has been confirmed, several possible actors could replace Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Englund portrayed Kreuger in eight different feature film installments of the Elm Street franchise, as well as the television show, Freddy's Nightmares. Though Englund has retired from acting as Freddy, due to his age and the role demands, no other actor is yet set to replace the legend. There hasn't been an official update to the franchise in over a decade, with Englund's last appearance as Krueger being a guest role in The Goldbergs in 2018.
Unlike other slasher killers, like Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger speaks a lot, giving him quite the personality, full of iconic one-liners. This means finding a replacement for the villain is difficult, since fans of the franchise have a very clear idea of Freddy's personality. Freddy's personality is also established to...

It’s not every day you see a biblical movie which mixes Mma, heavy metal, and Jesus Christ, but the trailer for The Carpenter offers just that. That’s… certainly unique.
The Carpenter stars Kameron Krebs as “an adopted Viking orphan who becomes a carpenter’s apprentice to Jesus. The orphan, Oren, fights as a side hustle. His experience training as a carpenter with Jesus as his mentor changes his lifestyle.” Krebs serves as an executive producer on the project and also co-wrote the script alongside his father, Kenny Krebs, and director Garrett Batty. Despite the biblical backdrop, The Carpenter will feature a contemporary soundtrack of heavy metal music during the fight sequences, including tracks from Godsmack, Drowning Pool and Motley Crue.

James Patterson's iconic Washington D.C. detective and forensic psychologist is back in a big way with Cross. The upcoming Prime Video show serves as the fourth adaptation of Patterson's character, with Morgan Freeman having played him twice in the psychological thrillers Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, before being surpassed by Tyler Perry in the 2012 franchise reboot, Alex Cross. This time around, the eponymous detective is being played by Aldis Hodge, best known for his work in the Leverage shows, as well as the Invisible Man reboot, Turn: Washington's Spies and Black Adam, among others.
Unlike the prior three films, Cross will be taking an original approach to adapting Patterson's franchise, not adapting any one specific novel, but instead creating a new case with some iconic characters appearing. The show will follow Hodge's Cross and his...

‘"Til you bid me come, shall you watch the world become as naught."
It's been confirmed that a new trailer for Robert Eggers' highly-anticipated Nosferatu remake will be released this Monday, and the movie's official social media accounts have now shared a foreboding new teaser in anticipation.
The brief clip features a sweeping shot of a mysterious stone structure with a hexagram symbol on the outside, which might well be where Bill Skarsgård's titular undead nobleman, Count Orlok, takes his rest during the day.
Orlok has mostly been kept under wraps, but we caught a very quick glimpse of the vampire sinking his fangs into an unfortunate victim's neck in the first trailer, and another as he slowly turns around to face the camera.
Will our next look at the movie fully unveil the monster? Check back here on Monday to find out!

In the Virgin River season 5 finale, we learned how Mel met her birth father, and in Virgin River season 6, we're going to learn how Mel's mother met her father.
Jumping off of Mel's major paternity discovery last season, the upcoming new episodes will find the bride-to-be getting to know her birth father, Everett (John Allen Nelson), and part of that will be learning his history.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced that a Virgin River prequel series had been placed in development, and the series would center on Mel's mother, Sarah, and Everett.
On Sept. 23, Deadline announced the official castings for Sarah and Everett's prequel counterparts. Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr will make their debuts as Mel's parents in a 1970s flashback in Virgin River season 6.

Boy Kills World's ending completely changes the story, with a series of major revelations throwing the film's protagonist (and the audience) for a major loop. The film focuses on the titular Boy. Played by Bill Skarsgrd, the otherwise nameless hero was left deaf, mute, and without a family due to the actions of the Van Der Koy family. After years of training, the Boy finally decides to take his revenge, setting off a massive bloody quest that leaves lots of corpses in its wake.
The third act of the wild action movie Boy Kills World is a game-changer, as it recontextualizes some of the film's most important characters and their relationships to one another. It turns one of the Boy's allies into an over-arching villain, without undoing the terrible actions of the Van Der Koy family. It even sets up a potential path for a sequel to Boy Kills World,...

Bill Skarsgrds unnamed deaf-mute protagonist in Boy Kills World expresses himself through videogame voiceover narration. Boy Kills World is a satirical tale of revenge set in a dystopian world in which people are slaughtered on live television in a show called The Culling. Skarsgrd plays Boy, a young man who was left deaf-mute after an attack in which his entire family was killed. In the years that followed, Boy became a martial arts master in his bid to seek vengeance against the people responsible in time for Boy Kills Worlds ending.
Since Boy is unable to speak, his thoughts are expressed in voiceover narration. Since he doesnt have a voice of his own, he uses a familiar voice from his favorite arcade game as his inner voice. Often compared with the John Wick movies, Bill Skarsgrd's Boy Kills World, which has an audience score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes, is now streaming. Directed by Moritz Mohr, Boy Kills World has been among the new age of action comedy assassin films that have entailed the John Wick franchise's success. Owing to this, many could not help but compare it with the Keanu Reeves movie franchise even before it hit the big screens on April 26, 2024.

2024s The Crow wasnt the successful adaptation some were hoping for, and one of its most criticized elements is its ending, which Bill Skarsgrd had already shared he didnt like. 2024 is a big year for Bill Skarsgrd with different projects that will showcase his acting skills. Bill Skarsgrd has one more project coming up in 2024 thanks to Robert Eggers Nosferatu, and his latest comments about his character only make me more excited about it. 2024 has been a big year for Bill Skarsgrd with projects from different genres that have further shown his acting range. Skarsgrd surprised the audience with his performance in the action comedy movie Boy Kills World and later went for a darker character in Rupert Sanders The Crow, where he played the title character.
Bill Skarsgrd will be closing 2024 with perhaps his most anticipated project of the year: Nosferatu, a remake of the 1922 German expressionist classic of the same name by F.W. Murnau. Scream queen Jessica Rothe has joined the cast of a new sci-fi horror movie, Affection, one with a plot vaguely reminiscent of her breakout role in the time loop slasher series Happy Death Day.
Deadline reports that the actress is playing the role of Ellie, who becomes trapped inside a "cyclical nightmare" that causes her memories to frequently "reset," erasing her life with her husband and daughter. Even worse, her real memories are replaced with "vivid memories of a life she's never lived."
In some ways, it sounds like a cross between a lighter rom-com like 50 First Dates and Happy Death Day. It's not quite the same thing as a time manipulation movie where each day repeats itself, but one that could be a lot darker depending on what direction this story takes.
Rothe will star opposite Joseph Cross, the actor best known for his performances in Lincoln and Licorice Pizza.

Bill Skarsgrd's 2024 movies have a terrible Rotten Tomatoes streak. His upcoming horror remake, Nosferatu, has the potential to fix this streak. Director Robert Eggers has a strong track record with critics, boosting anticipation for Nosferatu.
2024 is a busy year for Bill Skarsgrd, but unfortunately, his projects so far have been a disaster with critics, giving him a terrible Rotten Tomatoes streak but one upcoming horror remake can fix this. Bill Skarsgrd is best known for his work in the horror genre on both TV and film. Skarsgrd rose to fame with his performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in Andy Muschiettis It duology, and he has since become one of the biggest names in horror in recent years. Of course, Skarsgrd has also been part of projects from other genres, most notably action.

Alex Proyas, of the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here), was never happy with the idea that Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders was going to be telling a new version of the story of The Crow with his recently released reboot – and Proyas never kept his feelings about the project to himself, taking every opportunity to mock and bash it on social media. The Crow reboot made its way out into the world last weekend and is proving to be both a critical failure and a box office bomb, which is just giving Proyas more opportunities to have fun at the movie’s expense on social media.
In the build-up to the reboot’s release, Proyas shared a screen shot of The Guardian’s review, which called the film “unfathomably awful.” Later, he commented, “Wow. The reviews are brutal.” And when the box office numbers came in,...

Becoming trapped in a nightmare is the worst. I’m reasonably adept at controlling my dreams, but now and again, the slumber is too strong to shake the dark visions from my mind’s eye. Jessica Rother and Joseph Cross are about to find out what that’s all about when they star in BT Meza’s directorial debut for the sci-fi thriller Affection. Julianna Layne co-stars.
Meza directs Affection from his script. According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Affection tells the story of “Ellie (Rothe), who is stuck in a cyclical nightmare. Grappling with a condition that erratically resets her memory, she’s left unable to remember her husband (Cross) or daughter (Julianna Layne). Each reset leaves her disoriented and haunted with vivid memories of a life she’s never lived.”
Horror fans know Jessica Rothe as Tree Gelbman Christopher Landon’s Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2 U.

Bill Skarsgard is looking seriously ripped in his new movie The Crow, and we can tell you how he got that way.
The 34-year-old actor landed the starring role in the remake, which he filmed after his action movie Boy Kills World.
He was already in fighting form because of Boy Kills World, but he and The Crow‘s director revealed how he stayed that way. The actor also shared the way that he “cheated” on his diet after they finished the movie.
Keep reading to find out more…
Director Rupert Sanders told Variety that Bill ate the same thing whenever they went out together.
“It’s basically steak tartare and raw eggs. He was in the gym a lot. He ate very healthily and put us all to shame when we were eating burgers and hot dogs and working late at night in the Czech summer,” he said.
