In a variant cover for May’s Doctor Strange #3, a mashup of Doctor Strange and Spider-Man emerges from the Spider-Verse, primed and ready for mystical combat. Flamboyant Indian filmmaker Subhash Ghai, known for several big Bollywood hits from the 1970s through the 2000s, has entered the world of streaming with film “36 Farmhouse.”

The film is produced by Zee Studios and Ghai’s Mukta Arts, the company behind iconic films “Karz” (1980), “Hero” (1983), “Karma” (1986), “Ram Lakhan” (1989), “Saudagar” (1991), “Khalnayak” (1993), “Pardes” (1997) and “Taal” (1999), all directed and produced by Ghai.

In his pomp, Ghai directed a virtual who’s who of Bollywood including Dilip Kumar, Raaj Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Nutan.

In “36 Farmhouse” Ghai tackles a topical tale born out of the several Covid-19 induced lockdowns India has endured over the past 18 months. It follows a father-son pair of migrant workers who on the way back to their native village during the pandemic shutdown find jobs at a lavish farmhouse owned by a rich lady.

Exclusive: Rising writer Ritza Bloom, who has worked on series including Freeform’s Grown-ish and Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, is developing a TV adaptation of Marissa Meyer’s Instant Karma.

The project is currently in the works at HBO Max as a half-hour single-cam family dramedy series. Bloom is writing, while author Meyer, who has also written books including The Lunar Chronicles, Heartless, andThe Renegades Trilogy, is set as co-exec producer.

The book, which was published in November, follows chronic overachiever Prudence Barnett, who is always quick to cast judgment on the lazy, rude, and arrogant residents of her coastal town. Dilip Kumar, one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema, died in Mumbai on Wednesday after being hospitalized for breathlessness. He was 98.

The star had been ailing for several months and was in and out of hospital prior to his death.

Born Mohammed Yusuf Khan in Peshawar, British India, in 1922, Kumar debuted in films with “Jwar Bhata” (1944). Though he was known as the ‘tragedy king’ for his roles in sombre films like “Daag” (1952) and “Devdas” (1955), Kumar displayed range throughout his career including comedies “Azaad” (1955), “Kohinoor” (1960) and “Ram Aur Shyam” (1967), swashbuckler “Aan” (1952), historical “Mughal-e-Azam” (1960) and bandit drama “Gunga Jamuna” (1961).

As part of its Kids and Family Sneak Peek at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Netflix has debuted a series of new images for Karma’s World, the kids series created and executive produced by rapper, actor and producer Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges who said today, “I believe Karma is going to be a much bigger artist than Ludacris has ever been.” Check out the new stills above and below.

The children’s series, which will debut in the fall, will feature forty 11-minute episodes and is a coming-of-age story about a young Black girl finding her voice and using it to change her world. HBO Max will eventually feature a library of more than 2,000 films within the first year, but one of the movies streaming now is the superb Doctor Sleep. In ca se you missed it in cinemas last year, then you can catch it as well as the director’s cut. Clocking in at 3 hours, this sequel to Stephen King’s “The Shining,” is about the troubled, now-adult Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor) who meets a teen who shares his extrasensory gift of the “shine” and tries to protect her from a cult whose members feed off the shine of innocents to become immortal.

The movie is directed by Mike Flanagan along with a fantastic score by The Newton Brothers.

With that in mind, WarnerMedia’s HBO Max is undoubtedly the biggest streaming release since Disney+ last year.

When AT&T acquired Time Warner and all its holdings in 2016, the newly-branded WarnerMedia subsidiary needed a place to house thousands of Warner movies, and other series, films, and documentaries from Warner-branded studios like CNN, TNT, TBS, The CW, Adult Swim, and much more. Enter HBO Max. Though HBO Max is named after Warner’s original premier streaming and cable entity in HBO, this is much more than just an “upgraded” version of HBO. HBO Max is the juggernaut WarnerMedia streaming service AT&T promised.

HBO Max launches May 27 with a whole lot of content ready to stream immediately. But throughout the nascent streamer’s first month, even more titles will be added, from HBO Max originals like “Adventure Time: Distant Lands Bmo,” to old favorites like “Amelie,” “Black Beauty” and “The Bucket List.”

During a time when film festivals are being canceled and postponed, Tribeca Enterprises is looking to lift up the film community by teaming with YouTube for We Are One: A Global Film Festival. The fest will stream exclusively on YouTube for free and feature over 100 films co-curated by 21 of the most renowned festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sundance, Toronto and, of course, Tribeca. The 10-day fest will kick off on May 29 and will not only provide entertainment but also offer relief to the Covid-19 pandemic via supporting organizations.

When they say this is a “global” festival, they really mean it. The programming will provide a lens to different cultures from all over the world, with films representing over 35 countries and include 23 narrative and 8 documentary features, 57 narrative and 15 documentary short films, 15 archived talks along with 4 festival exclusives and 5 Vr programming pieces. The fest will include 13 world premieres, 31 online premieres and 5 international online premieres.

As certain states begin to partially reopen their economies amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, more people are showing their appreciation for the heroism of frontlines workers.

The David Lynch Foundation's “Heal the Healers Now” initiative to provide free training in the stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation technique to medical professionals continues to garner nationwide support, with many celebrities signing on board to bolster the organization’s efforts. Before HBO Max even launches — it goes live May 27 — WarnerMedia is trying to lure new subscribers by revealing what’s coming next month to the streamer.

The June lineup highlights on HBO Max include all 23 seasons of “South Park,” snapped up in a multiyear, $500 million-plus deal; James Cameron’s Oscar-winning “Titanic”; and the “Adventure Time: Distant Lands” special featuring lovable robot Bmo.

HBO Max, regularly priced at $14.99 per month (the same as HBO Now), will be available on multiple platforms and distributors through deals including with Apple, Google, Charter, Xbox, PlayStation, and AT&T/DirecTV. As of this writing, however, WarnerMedia has not locked in HBO Max deals with Comcast, Roku or Amazon.

HBO Max has quite the lineup for this summer. The new streaming service just announced the premiere dates for several new TV shows, including Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Karma.

Other original series include the Amy Schumer documentary Expecting Amy (July 9th), the animated adult comedy Close Enough (July 9th), the family docusoap House of Ho (July 16th), and the children's animated series Tig n' Seek (July 23rd).

HBO Max has revealed the second slate of premium Max Originals available to viewers after the streamer’s May 27th launch.

On Thursday, June 25th, HBO Max will premiere an original second season of the critically acclaimed DC Universe fan-favorite Doom Patrol.

HBO Max has set premiere dates for the second wave slate of Max Originals following the streamer’s May 27 launch. It kicks off on June 18 with the first season of GoodStory Entertainment’s kid series Karma. Premiere dates also have been set for scripted comedy Frayed, season 2 of DC Universe’s Doom Patrol and, four Adventure Time specials and comedian Amy Schumer’s three-part docuseries Expecting Amy, among others. Additionally, Seth Rogen’s feature American Pickle will have its world premiere on August 6.

HBO’s summer premieres will be also available on the platform as they debut on HBO including, I May Destroy You, starring Michaela Coel; the 1930s Los Angeles drama Perry Mason; the six-part documentary series I’ll Be Gone in the Dark; the fourth season of the anthology series Room 104; and drama series Lovecraft Country.

HBO Max has announced a second wave of original programming that will bow this summer, including the long-awaited third season of TBS transplant Search Party, a revival of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and a movie starring Seth Rogen and… Seth Rogen.

HBO Max has unveiled the premiere dates for its “second wave” of original programming.

Some of the standouts that have been dated include the four “Adventure Time” specials, which will be available from June 25, the Seth Rogen comedy feature “American Pickle,” coming August 6, and the Amy Schumer docuseries “Expecting Amy,” which the streaming service will birth July 9.

The WarnerMedia streamer is launching May 27 with a substantial library of content, and a few originals, headlined by the Anna Kendrick comedy “Love Life.” HBO Max’s jewel in the crown upon launch was supposed to be the “Friends” reunion special, however, the coronavirus production shutdown put paid to hopes that it would be ready on time. WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer chairman Bob Greenblatt recently told Variety that special will potentially be completed by the end of summer.

Netflix’s unscripted guilty pleasure “Love Is Blind” has quickly turned into a pop culture phenomenon, and the streamer is aiming to capitalize on that with a reunion special featuring the show’s cast.

Here’s the twist: The “Love Is Blind” reunion special will premiere March 5 — on Netflix’s YouTube channel. That will presumably expose the relationship reality show to even more potential viewers who might not have caught it yet on Netflix.

Although details on the special are slim, it appears that the Atlanta-based cast of 20 participants will be a part of the reunion special, along with hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. The reunion was taped last week, and is expected to clock in at about an hour.

Rick Moranis will make his long-awaited return to acting with a role in the upcoming reboot of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, with Moranis returning to the Disney franchise — and the big screen in general — for the first time since 1997.
