This tv series tries to cram as much drama into 10 episodes as possible and by cramming so much in, it fails to explore any of the characters and themes in a meaningful way. A prime example of this is the love pentagon, with Kitty (the female lead) jumping around from crush to crush, making it difficult to connect with any of her romantic counterparts.
If the series had focused primarily on one or two main themes like Kitty's connection with her mother or her relationship, the series would have emotional substance but instead it comes across as a bottom of barrel rom com that Netflix mass produces.

It's sweet, it's popcorn TV which we all expected - I have enjoyed the binge and would recommend for anyone who is after some light hearted watching
It's cliched, it's Netflix & most importantly it's enjoyable
It won't win any awards but I doubt you will regret a lazy Sunday watching it - Kitty is what I would assume every teenager aspires to be, understanding, forgiving and has no judgment which at this difficult time we all need
👏🏻👏🏻 Netflix it's rivals Emily in Paris without the scenary or fashion
It gave me a warm hug & im not sorry for watching - every review is someone's personal opinion this is mine & I hope you enjoy this show for what it is.
Xo Kitty.

I don't understand the negative reviews. It's a nice coming of age story that doesn't try and force a love triangle, I remember being that age and having lots of crushes. I think it's trying to show how quickly things can change with your relationships as a teen. I like the strong friendships shown too. Hate the comments about the actresses teeth, why force everyone to have capped, whitened teeth? The main actress looks lovely. It was nice to showcase a young cast who managed to play their characters well. Yes there were cheesy parts but that's half the fun. Would definitely recommend for fans of the movie or romance/coming of age stories.

Just a heads up before I start, but be respectful of others opinions pls. Just because you like or hate something doesn't mean you need others to do the same. Half of this review section is mostly just people hating and others liking while being also very aggressive and forcing.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that I loved the idea of having Lara Jean's sister, Kitty, have her own series but this would've done better if it followed the format of Lara Jean's love story.. in other words maybe a movie series instead of an actual one.
What happened in 10 episodes could have happened in just 2 hours and 30 minutes of watching. Maybe even just 2 hours, if the writers would have a good job summarizing everything which they clearly did not.
The story did NOT go anywhere. The acting was alright and I did love the energy of Kitty, but also hated her character from time-to-time especially since she meddled a whole lot in the story.
It was introduced to us in the beginning that the whole reason of her wanting to go to Korea was to meet Dae, which did happen but also because she wanted to know more about her mom. And well..
The side stories about her mom felt a little underwhelming. Throughout the episodes, it was only inserted a little bit every here-and-there and then back to her love story which I know was the main theme anyway, but the writers could've made a scenario whereas it would seem that finding more about her mom wasn't just a side quest.
All-in-all, I think that's all for me. I hope everybody had a great and maybe a not-so-great time watching the show. Waiting for season 2 just because I do admit I have a love-hate relationship type with this kinds of series!!

I deserve more. I loved the characters but kitty she just went around and fell in love with everyone tf. Well anyways it was good which i wasn't expecting it to be. Minho is so funny. I really enjoyed. It was funnier than expected and it felt like real people interacting and a story that could happen. A bit romanticized obviously and a lot of coincidences that wouldn't happen in real life but i liked the characters depth and how they felt like humans and not so black and white one is evil one is good. Minho was the best thing from the story really. Kitty was my less favorite but she was okay too i guess.

If you're looking for a well put together show like breaking bad or GOT yeah you're going to hate it.
It's totally unbelievable and corny but so cute and so fun. The show depicts the exact genre it's trying to. If you like sex lives of college girls, the summer I turned pretty, heartstopper, trinkets, on my block, or kdramas I mean you've come to the right place.
Light hearted fun and lovely characters. It's exactly what it was supposed to be and delivered.
Drove me nuts they are In south korea and all speak english but it is what it is and I will still watch any future seasons of it.
Here is my remaining 15 characters needed.

As someone who has watched K-dramas for many years now, I found this mix of American TV and Korean TV a really interesting concept. But in my opinion, it wasn't executed in the best way.
I wish they would have leaned more into the style of k-dramas: a more slow-paced and slow-burn style. Instead, this series felt messy. Sometimes it was hard to keep up with all the love triangles and the drama.
I don't think the actors did a bad job, but the lines and dialogue were often quite awkward, which didn't serve the actors any justice. But when it wasn't too much, I did occasionally enjoy the fluffy and corny feeling in this. Sometimes we even got some interesting thoughts from the main character that other teenage dramas don't touch on.
I also liked the incorporation of K-pop, there were many great songs in this. But again, it felt messy. There were almost too many songs and sometimes they didn't quite fit in. I wish they had stuck with a distinctive sound for this, instead of trying to cram in every popular K-pop song from the last few years.
Overall, I liked this idea, but it lacked cohesiveness and authenticity. I wish there had been more time to explore individual characters more, since there were many interesting stories in this.

Seriously!! Leave K-POP alone. You guys already messed up with so many things and cultures. From the food to the history of some nations. About the white actors.. From Madison to the Millers, they are expressionless and most of their scenes are cringe worthy. About 70% of the actors can't really act. Q was one of the better characters amongst the rest.
The plot was okay but too many love entanglement. It's a little hard to find connections with the characters if they are gonna keep trying to mix the couples around. They should focus on one relationship at a time , so we know what worked out and what didn't. First few episdoes were great but afterwards it seemed like a drag.

I started watching this, because I had nothing else to watch and I loved the to all the boys I loved before movies. I gotta say...this just doesn't hold up. The story is all over the place, sometimes I felt the susposed main character (Kitty) is more a bystander. The rest of the cast was way more interesting to me. I also didn't like the ending. With all that being said, I still gave it a 6, because I did watch till the end. I wanted to know how it ended. And It was perfect background tv. If you look away for a hot minute, you don't miss much. Oh and the music was great!
I do not recommend if you want to watch a great series, but if you have some time to kill while folding clothes..have at it!

The polarizing reviews have been... interesting. I liked "XO, Kitty" quite a bit. I think it's relatable enough; it fairly captures the uncertainty and chaos surrounding teenage love, even though the series might feel all over the place sometimes. It maintains the charm of the movies and possesses lush and beautiful cinematography and sets - it's satisfying to watch in that way. I think the acting is okay, nothing special. I was initially concerned about character depth (given the show's fast pace), but even though some might feel one-sided, it never felt like I didn't know them. The 'plot twist' surprised me but I'm on the fence about it because it isn't thoroughly justified. While I also commend the writers for avoiding certain cliches they totally could've gone with, the script isn't without its qualms. The unrelenting miscommunication between characters bothered me and started to feel like decisions to further the plot. Overall, I thought it was entertaining enough. It's decent popcorn television (much like everything else from the TATBILB franchise). I've loved the characters so far, and I loved meeting new characters. I wouldn't mind seeing them again.

I must say.. I saw this one tik tok and wanted to check out the show.. did I feel like I wasted 4 hours of my life ? Sure yes... this plot is messy and all over the place. It's like they don't know where they want to land at any point of the journey... the actors playing Minho and Dae shined and the intricacies they added to their characters were something to behold. I found the weakest acting from the lead herself and even her potential love interest who plays yuri.. so many things were good about this show that made me want to like it.. but they constant plot changes were too much and Kitty's breakup with Dae made me sympathize with Dae not kitty.. and that's terrible writing if u want us to root for the lead girl.. I found myself instead rooting for Minho and Dae in the end.

I wanted to watch this because I enjoyed "to all the boys" and liked the fact it was a series. I then ended up binging the series in 24 hours! It had a great storyline and had great characters (i loved them all) and I really enjoyed the LGBT representation which was done well and I wasn't really expecting! I don't want to give away too much but it's a really cute series with a bit of drama sort of your classic coming of age but also with a few differences! If you want a chill cute series just watch it and especially if you liked "to all the boys" films and that sort of things!! I hope they make another series!

I must say that this show does not require any brain cells and was quite fun to watch. I did anticipate that it would be a light-hearted show, and it was; definitely binge-worthy.
There were moments which I loved and moments which I did not. But, I must say that Jenny Han has much to develop because I felt there wasn't enough time and episodes for the show to develop properly. Therefore, it did feel quite rushed towards the end as I would have loved it if they went deeper into Dae's background.
I would also love it if more of S. Korea's culture - education system, food and possibly struggles were disclosed slightly more in the show.
Note to Kitty: Not sure if you'd be returning to KISS, but please learn some Korean. You will need it.

This series completely exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a similar plot line to the previous movies. I am so glad that I stumbled across this show because it was more than just a coming of age. Rather than a simple love triangle Kitty is thrown into an environment where she is forced to explore complicated relationships and feelings with MULTIPLE people and the writers did so good in expressing the reality of it. The plot twists were somewhat sudden and the series in general was fast but full of a lot of information where Kitty learned a lot about herself, her Mother and her Friends. My only critique is that I wish they gave it more of a budget so that the season could have been longer.
I just started watching light-hearted, had nothing to expect. As I was watching first 4-5 episodes, I thought it is just a lame and poor-acted teenager romcom to be honest.
But after the last half, it's getting interesting. Even though I could foresee some of the results, but that actually makes me feel good and want to watch more and more.
Also I don't really watch K-drama usually because I would prefer to listen to English while half-watching without reading the text but this show is mostly in English so that helps.
Hope there is upcoming season 2.
Actors are young but great-looking to keep watching.

The series is a far cry from the To All The Boys trilogy. I never really cared for the meddling and hyperactive youngest sister in the movies so it was hard to watch her as a main character in the series and root for her as the protagonist. I would have stopped watching had it not been for Min Ho and hearing the amazing K-pop music. They didn't really develop some of the characters unfortunately and Kitty always focused on herself and her problems with Dae. Also why the need for a poorly developed love square? Don't understand why Kuri was part of the equation because her goal all along was to get a certain someone back. It was poor writing, poorly executed acting except for the lovely Min Ho, cringeworthy scenes, and didn't really have a realistic korean high school experience. It was drama on top of drama on top of drama but lacked the k-drama greatness.

I can't say I loved or hated this show. I thought it was a good idea in theory but the actual execution was... weird? And sometimes frustrating. It just had every SINGLE trope known to man and it felt a little bit forced. Unlike some others, I actually thought the portrayal of the characters kind of bouncing around from love interest to love interest made sense (more sense than the movies did imo), the issue for me is just that- and i mean this respectfully- Kitty had NO chemistry with like any of them. And she looks way younger than them. I know the actress is 19, but she LOOKS 14 (again, respectfully). She could've passed for a 16 year old if they didn't cast other actors that look closer to 20. It was just very strange to see it play out with that visual difference. The acting itself was fine. Some actors stronger than others, and the writing was sometimes strange but mostly subpar. Honestly just one of those shows you watch when you just want to be entertained but aren't actually very invested.
XO, Kitty seems to be channelling it's inner heartstopper. While not a bad thing, creating a "love web" (I mean, it's hard to follow all the crushes, wanna be crushes etc...) was a bit too much. And Heartstopper approached the relationships and inner reflections in a more fluid manner with much better music.
Kitty's exuberance about everything is exhausting. Hats off to the actress for the portrayal, but it's too much, too often. While the character was great in a supporting role in the movies, to bring that to a main role without providing some growth or development has left me wanting to see more of the other characters (Minho, Q, Dae, Yuri) and less of Kitty.
Overall, it was cute, enjoyable and I watched it all in three days. Would I rewatch the season? Most likely no. Will I watch the next season? Most likely yes.
SPOILERS BELOW THIS LINE ONLY Kitty developing feelings for Yuri - ok. I could see a quick crush based on some of the context. But for that to ultimately trump her feelings for Dae? I don't buy it. It was just didn't fit. If Kitty had developed those feelings for Minho - that would have flowed nicely.
And why is one teacher "Alex" and the other "Professor Lee"? Since when on first name basis with teachers?
