The beast inside is a film a lot of people are certainly going to pass up and miss - I personally blame the marketing approach. This film, if going in with the correct mindset will genuinely, at the very least, give you something to think about. If you head into this film expecting a creature feature, or a straight up horror film, you may get disappointed. This is a somber, dark emotional subject matter tackled in a successful way. This film knew what message it wanted to convey and ran with it.
Although there's a good chunk of things that can be labeled as flaws, some pacing issues, some scenes dragging on too long, etc - this film wraps things up masterfully, especially the final stretch of the film. Some really good preformances and electrifying interactions as well - when you think about the nitpicks or issues with the film, it's shadowed by the real intentions of this beast.
This isn't a scary film, it's a film that's tackling metaphors, symbolism; this film gives a good addition to the werewolf subgenre by offering a little bit of a new twist with emotional intention. On a horror standpoint, if you're seeking blood, action, etc. Like that, however? You may be disappointed. Head into this with the right mindset, mentally prepare for a darker message than usual and you may just have a good time. Now awful, surely not the worst of the year.

The Beast Within (2024) is a low budget British horror film from Alexander J. Farrell. It is being distributed by Well Go USA Entertainment. The film has a small, but solid cast, led by Game of Thrones' Kit Harrington. The movie is set in a remote place, and the year is unclear because of the pristine natural of the film, and how it was shot. All of those elements are good compliments to this homage to classic horror films, with a twist. The essence of the appeal of horror films is that that are allegories that are founded in real life fears and horrors. This movie does a good job of being engaging, and thought provoking. There is more here than a simple werewolf's tale, and that is a positive. The strength of the film is the perspective from which it is told; that of Harrington's Character's daughter. Caolinn Springall does a good job carrying this burden. She is the heart of the film, and elevates it. Worth the watch.

The Beast Within is one of those films that you finish and immediately wish you hadn't started. Despite having two lead actors who found success in Game of Thrones, this movie is a complete letdown. The plot drags on endlessly, the characters are paper-thin, and the dialogue is clumsy and uninspired. You keep waiting for something to happen, but it never does.
It feels like the filmmakers thought they had a clever concept, but it just doesn't work. The supposed horror elements are poor at best, and the story is almost none existent and incredibly frustrating. There's some tension, no real scares, and no reason to care about anything that's happening on screen short of being frustrated by the poor choices the main characters constantly make.
Honestly, it's hard to believe this movie got made, and I can't help but think it only did because of the actors' recent fame. Do yourself a favour and skip this one. It's not worth the time or effort.

But ultimately, it just doesn't say anything new or do much of anything. Even as a metaphor for clearly the metaphor it is...for...,it's still just a big so what. It took an hour and a half to say that? The title and the epigram at the start of the movie were enough to deduce exactly what the "beastly" theme would be. Then it's 80 minutes of a child and/or piglet screeching, a sour-faced mother, a cliched grandfather and Jon Snow mugging about.
I am not even sure the Chekhovian apparatus was used effectively either. It was obvious from the beginning that girl child's affliction would come to play into the resolution but that could have blown up in their faces.
The movie made an attempt. But it is just slow, long and boring with little depth or bite.

Unwatchably dull though beautifully shot ... The child is good ... James Cosmo is always good ... The woman was really annoying ... Harrington only works well with a good director ... The landscapes were wonderful ... But this should have been a werewolf film and kept to the idea of what it was ... Instead we get a director with ideas of trying to be clever ... What should have been the underlying idea of broken family and possible alcoholism ( ??? ) are instead to upfront instead of subconcious and drag this down into total tedium instead of running with excitement and having dark fun with it ... This totally comes down to direction and possibly editing, though its smooth enough... Not worth your time.

A movie like this made in 2024 surprises me. The female lead is a good actress. Kit has the same expressions he carried forward from game of thrones, even the voice tone. The
Put some effort guys.
It's been a while that we have seen a real good massive blockbuster movie.
Post covid industry has taken too long to come up to speed.
The beast within is a waste of time. It's so slow makes you fall 😴 asleep.
And rhe director was so lazy he did not even bother to use CGI to show a proper beast to sort of create an impact.
Reminds me of 90s series " Manimal".
It is by no means better than " the manimal".

Was this the greatest movie I've seen? No. With that said there was never a part I did not enjoy. Everyone thinks they are movie critics and expect every movie to be a classic. This movie was different from so many other movies. It had great acting, a decent story line and a twist at the end. They did all this with out having to spend massive amounts of money. This is a movie that will give you a thriller/mystery/fantasy all in one. The ending with leave you to interpret that in your own. If people relax and just watch movies with no expectation they will realize that they will start enjoying a lot more movies.

I don't know but movies like this are proof that most of you are bloody idiots. This movie was a spectacular slow burn, proving that it doesn't have to be constantly bloody and terrifying. I love that the human aspect was much scarier than the wolf itself. Kit was alarming in this like I've never seen him. You weren't sure if it was the beast within or if he himself was just a bad man. I love this film. It was beautifully shot and wonderfully acted. Again. What is wrong with most of you. This was a good creature feature. Whatever, I loved it. Some of you should take some time off, read a book or two and come back to appreciate good films. Good Indy films.

Ugh! Ok, I don't THINK this is a spoiler as I'm not revealing anything of the plot but if you don't want ANY information, then stop reading now. .........
Ok....... I love werewolf movies. I wait for good ones to be made. So what do we get here? A not very scary, not well hidden metaphor on domestic violence. First of all, a werewolf is ALREADY a metaphor for violence and the beast within man. Human losing control and doing violence as an animal to other humans. It doesn't need a more obvious metaphor trying loosely to masquerade as a werewolf movie!! We don't SEE the werewolf, not until the Very end and just barely. We don't get a good look at it. Secondly, from the perspective of your husband is known to be a werewolf.... Stop being sloppy. Stop cutting it close to the full moon. Stop putting your child in danger. Oh wait...this is a freaking metaphor.... Bugger off! I didn't want a metaphor, there's plenty of warnings out there, plenty of real violence against women and children, we didn't need a metaphor for that either.
I want a good look at a great, well done creature! I want a moody, gothic, creepy and well done horror flick. The metaphor is already included...geez!

I have seen bad and meaningless movies, but this is all of that together. The scenes have no coherence with each other, the characters are the most absurd and lack common sense. And not to mention how bad "the beast" looks. I really don't recommend this movie to anyone, and it makes me a little sad that the actor accepts roles of this type. The movie is not horror at all, yes, it has drama and absurd suspense without logic. The movie is not horror at all, yes, it has drama and absurd suspense without logic. The people are in one state, and suddenly in the next frame they are in another state regardless of what already happened to them and then suddenly they are back in the previous state, as if to say: ah! Wait, it's true that I couldn't breathe.
I can't relate to nor root for idiots and their stupid decisions. I have no energy left. This movie is a frustrating watch. The characters' illogical choices make it impossible to sympathize with them, and the plot never fully delivers the tension it promises. What could have been a gripping thriller is undermined by poor pacing and weak storytelling as well as a poor premise. Any potential it had is squandered by its inability to engage or surprise, leaving me exhausted, annoyed and disappointed. It doesn't make any sense and I wonder why Kit Harington chose this. He played well, but couldn't save anything.

Who would have thought 20 seconds at the very end of a film could so thoroughly ruin it? If you watch this movie and shut it off about 20 seconds before it actually ends, it's pretty good. Definitely deserving of much better than a 4 star rating... Throughout the film I kept thinking "How is this rated so low?". Then, I got to that final 20 seconds...if only I'd turned it off then. I'd have given it a solid 6.5.
It's not a high thrill action packed edge of your seat type monster movie, but it's a good story - and often I prefer that anyway. It was a decent horror movie, shown largely through the child's perspective - before that final 20 seconds. The symbolism is a bit heavy handed, but it did bother me - until that last 20 seconds.
Unfortunately, that final scene just slaps the audience over the head with the veiled meaning they'd been hunting at through the rest of the movie. That final 20 seconds really wasn't even necessary. The meaning is clear before they smack you upside the head with it. But I guess the writer REALLY wanted to make sure we got it, while also removing the best part of the movie along with it, so in with the final scene...
Even with that last bit, I still think the movie is at least 5 *s, so that's what I'm giving it. But do yourself a favour and turn it off half a minute sooner so you can enjoy it the way I wish I'd been able to.

I'm gonna be completely honest, as a Game of Thrones fan I absolutely came to this film because of Kit Harington. I assumed the reviews and the low ratings were indicative of a cheesy horror flick, but I am so glad I was wrong! The low ratings are clearly from people who don't understand what this movie was trying to convey. It's visually beautiful and a powerful story. Masterfully shot from beginning to end. It utilizes your sense of wonder! It's certainly not the horror film that it was marketed as, but a commentary on family, trauma and broken secrets. Disappointing it didn't find a wider audience! Maybe landing on Hulu will help. This was a beautiful film! I deeply enjoyed it and recommend it,

This was sooooo dragged out and with characters I never ended up caring one bit for.
The 'story' was paper thin and it felt like the just re-did the same scenes over and over again (I mean how many squeeling pig scenes do we need?).
I love werewolf movies...but, this one was utter, utter, utterly terrible.
And yes...I know and understand that this is not reeaallly about an actual werewolf but that it's used as a metaphor but that still doesn't make this move any less terrible.
If you paid to watch this..ask for your money back.
Yikes!
