The streamer is revealing a sneak peek Tuesday of its forthcoming Australian limited series Apple Cider Vinegar, a playfully fictionalized take on the story of Belle Gibson, the Australian single mother who launched a wellness empire by convincing the world she had brain cancer but was successfully curing herself with an all-natural lifestyle.

“This is a true-ish story based on a lie, about the rise and fall of a wellness empire; the culture that built it up and the people who tore it down,” Netflix’s official summary reads.

Netflix unveiled a batch of first-look images and a teaser video this morning featuring star Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Dopesick, Unbelievable) as Belle during various stages of her improbable journey from anonymous striver to globally disgraced grifter.

Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis and Weruche Opia are boarding the Netflix comedy Ladies First opposite Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike.

Billie Lourd paid tribute to Carrie Fisher on what would’ve been her mother’s 68th birthday. The “Star Wars” icon died on Dec. 27, 2016, at the age of 60.

“Dead person birthdays are weird to say the least,” Lourd wrote on Instagram Monday. “On my mom’s birthday every year, I try to celebrate her as much as possible, but today I really wanted to celebrate her with her. Some years my grief makes me feel the warmth of her love, some years it makes me angry, some years I feel numb but today when I woke up I just felt sad. I didn’t want to celebrate, I just wanted my mom.”

Sacha Baron Cohen’s next comedy will be Ladies First – a remake of French film I Am Not An Easy Man.

Sacha Baron Cohen has had no shortage of comedy roles in the last few years, from his terrific satirical television series Who Is America? to Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, which saw him revisit one of his most popular characters alongside a star-making turn from Maria Bakalova. There was also a report last year that Baron Cohen was working on a live tour, which would see him revisit his breakout character Ali G, but there have been no further updates on that front.

According to Deadline, though, Cohen’s next film will be Ladies First, a remake of the 2018 French film I Am Not An Easy Man, which was written and directed by Éléonore Pourriat.

Before this trailer, audiences only got a tiny glimpse of season 2 of "The Last of Us" in a sizzle reel for Max that arrived back in August and showed off footage from other 2025 shows, including season 3 of "The White Lotus" and the new "Game of Thrones" spinoff "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms." That little tease prominently featured Catherine O'Hara's new character — and we don't know what her deal is quite yet — and based on the brief dialogue between her character and Joel (Pedro Pascal), fans concluded that the story will pick up shortly after the events of the season 1 finale of "The Last of Us.

Beanie Feldstein has already appeared in film, on TV, and on Broadway, but now the multi-hyphenate star is looking to get behind the camera in one way or another.

Olivia Wilde and Beanie Feldstein had a mini “Booksmart” reunion Tuesday at Chanel and Tribeca Film Festival’s Through Her Lens luncheon in New York City.

Wilde and Feldstein are jurors for this year’s Tribeca Chanel women’s filmmaker program, which provides industry support and artistic development to 10 self-identifying women and non-binary filmmakers. The jury will decide which of these emerging filmmakers will receive full funding and support from Tribeca Studios to create a short film.

“I’m thrilled that I get to be on this jury with Beanie and to deliberate together because her taste is unmatched,” Wilde told Variety on the carpet for the Through Her Lens luncheon at Locanda Verde, the Italian restaurant in Tribeca. “She is so empathetic in the way she consumes materials with such thoughtful, emotional intelligence. Growing up sucks. Time seems to move faster than we can reasonably keep pace with, the crushing disappointment of reality never quite lives up to our naïve expectations, and even the fondest of memories can fade and turn into deep wells of regret. None of these are particularly profound observations for anyone legally old enough to drink, and they're certainly nothing that countless movies haven't already addressed in every conceivable way. So when yet another R-rated coming-of-age dramedy pops up on the radar -- centered on the well-worn trope of an idealistic 18-year-old relishing her last summer at home before moving away to bigger and better things in the city -- a healthy dose of skepticism would appear to be fair game. Even a talent like Megan Park, whose directorial debut "The Fallout" instantly made her a name worth paying attention to, would be hard-pressed to wring anything new out of this premise.

20th Television has hired Jillian Longnecker as executive vice president of production and Brendan Countee as head of comedy development.

In their new roles at 20th TV, which is part of Disney Television Studios, Longnecker will report to Carol Turner, head of Production for Disney Entertainment Television, while Countee will report to Carolyn Cassidy, executive vice president of development at 20th TV.

“I’ve admired the undeniable slate of television and the deep bench of talent at 20th Television for a long time, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to join Carol and her top-notch team,” Longnecker said. “I’m incredibly proud of my former team and all that we accomplished together, and look forward to my next chapter in television with the excellent group of executives at the studio.”

Longnecker will oversee all physical production for 20th Television’s slate of drama, comedy and limited series.

20th Television has hired former Netflix executive Jillian Longnecker as EVP and Head of Production and Showtime’s Brendan Countee as SVP and Head of Comedy Development for the studio, a part of Disney Television Studios.

Both positions had been vacant for awhile. 20th Television previous EVP Production Nissa Diederich exited in December, following a consolidation move that saw her counterpart, ABC Signature EVP Production and Post-Production Carol Turner, promoted to Head of Production for Disney Entertainment Television, overseeing production operations across Disney TV Studios, Hulu, Freeform and FX.

Reporting to Turner, Longnecker will oversee all physical production for 20th Television’s slate of drama, comedy and limited series that spans over two dozen current series and multiple pilots.

At one time, the first season of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us was meant to consist of ten episodes, with Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole) directing the first three. For reasons that have never been fully revealed, Balagov only ended up directing the first episode, with series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (who also wrote and directed the video game source material) taking over as directors on episode two and three, respectively. Then the first and second episodes were combined in post, with Balagov going uncredited for the scenes he directed, and the Druckmann-helmed third episode became the second episode. The Last of Us season 2 is now in production, and industry scooper Daniel Richtman has heard that Druckmann will be directing the sixth episode of the season.

We previously reported that New Line Cinema is developing a horror-based spinoff of the Rebel Wilson-led rom-com Isn't It Romantic titled Isn't It Scary. And now Spyglass appears to be treading into the genre-bending territory with the upcoming original horror romantic comedy Heart Eyes.

According to an exclusive from Deadline, Heart Eyes will star Cruel Summer vet Olivia Holt and Scream alum Mason Gooding. The film revolves around a murderer nicknamed the "Heart Eyes Killer" who targets couples. When two co-workers get roped into working overtime on Valentine's Day, the killer mistakes them for a couple, and they spend the evening running for their lives.

Heart Eyes is currently filming in New Zealand. Josh Ruben will direct the film, co-written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard) and Freaky scribes Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy. Landon was previously attached to direct the seventh Scream movie, also in the works at Spyglass.

Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding have nabbed starring roles in Heart Eyes, a horror romantic comedy for Spyglass.

Josh Ruben will direct the genre pic from a screenplay by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy, with production set for New Zealand. The film, according to the producers, will kick off with the Heart Eyes Killer striking Seattle, and a pair of co-workers doing overtime on Valentine’s Day being mistaken for a couple by the elusive killer.

Now the couple must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives. Heart Eyes, blending horror and comedy, will follow on the success of Scream, Scream VI and Thanksgiving for Spyglass.

Landon, Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks will share producing credits, while Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone will serve as executive producers, with Murphy.

Spyglass has tapped horror comedy filmmaker, Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within and Scare Me) who’ll helm from a screenplay written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) Christopher Landon & Michael Kennedy (Freaky). Landon and Divide/Conquer’s Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks are producing. Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone will serve as EPs with Murphy.

Holt can next be seen starring in the rom-com Jingle Bell Heist and has a guest starring role on Peacock’s new comedy series Laid. Holt most recently starred in Cruel Summer and Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger for Freeform and Amazon’s horror comedy Totally Killer. Last year, Holt made her Broadway debut as the iconic Roxie Hart in the classic musical Chicago. The actress is repped by WME and Entertainment 360, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.

Production is underway on season 2 of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us, and Deadline has just revealed the name of a cast member who will be joining the show in this new batch of episodes: Jeffrey Wright, whose credits include American Fiction, Westworld, Basquiat, Shaft, The Batman, and multiple James Bond and Hunger Games movies. Also on Wright’s list of credits is the video game The Last of Us Part II, where he provided the vocal performance for the character Isaac – and that’s the same character he’ll be playing on the HBO series.

Wright’s character Isaac is “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group, known in the video game as the Washington Liberation Front, who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.“

Exclusive: 20th Century Studios has acquired an original feature pitch from Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern (Booksmart), enlisting Gloria Sanchez to produce.

While plot specifics under wraps, the project is described as a mother-daughter comedy with two strong female roles.

On the film side, Haskins and Halpern most recently penned 80 for Brady, the comedy starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field, which Paramount released last year. They’re perhaps best known for scripting Booksmart, the BAFTA and WGA Award-nominated 2019 comedy directed by Olivia Wilde.

Creators of the CBS show Carol’s Second Act, starring Patricia Heaton, as well as the ABC sitcom Trophy Wife, the pair are currently under an overall deal in television at CBS Studios. Nominated for an Emmy for their work on staff of ABC’s Black-ish, they’ve also written on series like Good Girls (NBC), The Mayor (ABC) and Imaginary Mary (ABC), to name a few.

Will Ferrell and Ramy Youssef are co-creating “Golf,” a comedy series set at Netflix, with Ferrell also set to star. Josh Rabinowitz also serves as co-creator.
