Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail is fairly popular among shonen fans and enjoys a dedicated fanbase. However, compared to other mainstream shonen series, Fairy Tail has some noticeably weaker aspects that weigh it down. For instance, Mashima’s focus on the power of friendship saves the day, no matter how dire the situation is.

It has become a popular notion that the “power of friendship” is one of the worst aspects of the series. While there’s some truth to this statement, the bond between the characters keeps many fans hooked to the narrative. The mangaka has created great characters and their interactions with each other make Fairy Tail a heartwarming delight.
The character who embodies the best aspects of the series is Gajeel Redfox, as his phenomenal character development would have been incomplete without the power of friendship.

Fairy Tail has truly proven to be a worldwide sensation, captivating even the Western anime fans and cementing it as a modern classic. While there are several key factors that can be attributed to its high-level success, one stands one quite obviously. Of course, its well-polished animation was one of the major reasons behind the series’ initial success.

But that is not it, considering its brilliant storytelling. Its approach to friendships and heroism is unique and refreshing. Most certainly, the franchise isn’t ending soon.

Fairy Tail manga creator Hiro Mashima opened up about the creation of the series during a Q&a session at this year’s New York Comic Con.
Responding to a fan’s question about whether Fairy Tail‘s themes of friendship drew from his own life, Mashima candidly admitted, “To tell you the truth, I wrote the story because I had no friends. My loneliness is what you’re seeing in Fairy Tail.”
This revelation struck a chord with fans, many of whom credit the series with helping them navigate their own struggles.
One attendee shared, “Fairy Tail helped me get through a lot of my struggles in high school and helped me connect with my friends on a deeper level.”
Mashima also reflected on his surprise at the show’s worldwide popularity. “When I was first invited to New York Comic Con, I didn’t believe there was a worldwide audience.
