“Autobio Pamphlet” (“Aatmapamphlet”), debuting in the Berlin Film Festival’s youth-focused Generation 14plus strand competition, takes on the twin tasks of telling the coming of age story of both its young protagonist and of India.
The Marathi-language film marks the directorial debut of Ashish Bende, who previously assisted on several films in India’s flourishing Marathi industry, including award-winning 1970s-set coming of age film “Shala” (2011).
The film depicts momentous occasions in the life of Ashish, a so-called “lower caste” boy from the Dalit community in 1980s and 1990s Maharashtra, who falls in love with his classmate from the so-called “upper caste” Brahmin community. The narrative is largely based on Bende’s childhood and teenage years. It follows Ashish and his friends – who are from a variety of castes and religions – as they realize the divisive nature of the caste system, and overcome the challenging socio-political changes around them through kinship and a celebration of differences.

If you’re struggling to find a job right now, Patrick Schwarzenegger’s character in the upcoming movie “Echo Boomers” can relate.
In the heist thriller — which also stars Alex Pettyfer and Michael Shannon — Schwarzenegger plays a recent college graduate who can’t find work in a particularly unforgiving job market. He’s deep in student debt and out of options.
So he turns to his cousin (portrayed by Gilles Geary), who brings him into his get-rich-while-getting-back-at-the-rich scheme. Their group of disillusioned millennials, intent on breaking a system that favors the wealthy, use Chicago as their playground as they rob multi-million dollar homes, taking what they want and destroying what they don’t.
Though they carry out their frustrations in a way that could be described as a tad extreme, Schwarzenegger says the difficulty of finding jobs during a pandemic that’s left millions out of work is timelier than ever.

Kevin Hart is appreciating his birthday a little bit more this year. Today, the comedian shared a picture of himself to mark his 41st birthday, smiling as he soaked up the rays on a boat. "So blessed & so thankful to see the age 41, the actor shared in his caption. "I'm lucky to be alive. There will never be another day that just goes by in my life that's not treated with the highest level of respect and appreciation." Of course, the Night School performer was likely referencing his terrifying car accident back in September of last year, where he suffered "major" injuries to his spine that required back surgery and a long road of physical therapy to get back...

In early May, McU veterans Joe and Anthony Russo launched a weekly Instagram Live show to discuss a range of classic movies that made them want to be directors in the first place. Starting with Mathieu Kassovitz’s La Haine, the ‘Russo Bros. Pizza Film School‘ has been a fun time for viewers choosing to tune in during quarantine ever since.
In a new interview about the ongoing project with Fox 5 DC, the Russo brothers chatted about their various attempts to school audiences who have gaps in their film history knowledge, including a young Tom Holland during his Marvel debut in their second McU film, Captain America: Civil War.
The 19-year-old actor admitted to the Russos that he’d never seen the original Star Wars trilogy, so he didn’t really have any idea what he was referencing in his breakout scene as Peter Parker tackling the might of Ant-Man,...

13 Reasons Why Season 4 arrives on Netflix in one week, and the streamer has dropped a new sneak peak.
The clip involves Winston (Deaken Bluman) trying to get answers from Ani (Grace Saif) following Monty's death.
"Tell me what really happened and I swear to you I'll never mention it again, to anyone," he sais to a clearly shocked Ani.
"Just tell me what really happened."
Unfortunately for Winston, Ani has the best poker face out there, and gives him the following response:
"I don't know."
It's an awkward scene, for sure, and Winston leaves with the following:
"Why lie to me? What good does that do?"
Indeed, there would be no show if these teenagers told the truth.
Through three seasons, we've had a suicide, an almost school shooting, sexual assault, and murder.
It's been an exhausting series, and with us heading into the final season, there has to be some consequences for the characters.

‘A Simple Favour’ helmer Paul Feig has signed up to direct Netflix’s young adult fantasy fairy-tale ‘The School for Good and Evil’.
The film is based on the novel by Soman Chainani and follows best friends Sophie and Agatha who are students at the titular School for Good and Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy-tale heroes and villains.
With her princess ambitions, Sophie knows she’ll be picked for the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella and Snow White. Agatha, with her grim aesthetic and wicked cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil.
When the girls find their fortunes reversed, with Sophie dropped into the School for Evil and Agatha into the School for Good, their friendship will be put to the test.
David Magee and Laura Solon have penned the script.

Is there anything more pure and less corrupt than young love? That first sensation that comes when boys and girls start transitioning into men and women is a powerful charge. The feeling is so often mutually felt but rarely expressed in as gentle and kind a way as the way observed in Sujay Dahake's beautifully observed Marathi film, Shala (School).Mukund Joshi (Anshuman Joshi) is a 14 year-old boy, and Shirodkar (Ketaki Mategaonkar) is his female classmate in rural India in the mid '70s. Theirs is that beautiful and pure puppy love that one often only experiences once. Love free from disappointment, free from baggage, and free from fear. Their courting is equally chaste; no touching, no kissing, for Joshi, a simple shared smile, or...
