And Tegan is, quite literally, in the dark - enduring interrogation by the mysterious Clarimonde. Any friend of the Doctor's is Clarimonde's enemy... because theirs is a blood feud.

In these two adventures, The Doctor and Nyssa stumble across a trail of ten destroyed worlds, all of them destroyed by an unknown device. The planet Traxana is next on the list but when the Tardis lands on an outpost on Traxana's moon, The Doctor and Nyssa discover giant green arachnoids. Then, on the Dalek-occupied world of Mojox, a group of rebels is engaged in a battle against the Daleks, but they find an ally in the form of The Doctor, while the Daleks are working on a biological weapon to wipe out the Mojoxalli with their chief scientist, Nyssa.

It's L/Wren Mrs Constance Clarke's birthday - and Flip is determined to make it an anniversary to remember. The futuristic colony of Formicia, where the pampered populace pass their days in endless leisure, seems the perfect place for a 'Wren Party'. But all is not as it seems. Looking down from the Middle, the skyscraping tower that ascends as far as the colony ceiling, Formicia's overseers can see that the Doctor doesn't fit in - and it's not just his coat that makes him conspicuous... "The End is the Beginning," say the propaganda-like posters all over Formicia. Because to be part of this perfect society comes at a price. And the Doctor's already in arrears.

Deep in the heart of nowhere, near a place called Abbey Marston, there's a caravan site. The perfect place to get away from it all. Close by, there's a stone circle they used for human sacrifice in olden times. A little further afield, there's an old RAF research station, where they did hush-hush things in the War. There's only one rule: the use of radios, cassette recorders and portable televisions is strictly forbidden. People come here to get away from it all, you see. No-one wants to hear the noise.
