The world of Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3 (now streaming on Screambox!) will expand with the official novelization from author Tim Waggoner, Cineverse has announced today.
The upcoming release is part of Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting’s new publishing arm Bloody Press, focused on creating and bringing audiobooks, e-books and print editions to market.

“We continue to look for new opportunities to reach fans, from novelizations to exclusive t-shirts and collectible merchandise to podcasts,” said Cineverse VP Network Strategy, Tom Owen. “When you can super-serve people who are passionate about iconic horror franchises like Terrifier, it makes it possible not only to drive revenue but to form powerful,...

Video game adaptations are quite popular nowadays, but without a doubt, this trend was normalized by the Resident Evil movie series. The series kicked off with the release of 2002’s Resident Evil and ended with 2017’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. The franchise was later rebooted but unfortunately, it was not well-received by the fans.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse was the second movie in the series (Image via Constantin Film)
The Resident Evil movie series is a great example of how video games are butchered when adapted into a different medium. The films were average and yet, managed to become the highest-grossing film series based on a video game at one point. The films featured some heavy hitters from Hollywood but no one was as influential as this one musician who almost joined the cast of 2004’s Resident Evil: Apocalypse.

Landman has firmly established itself as one of the biggest shows of the year and we were recently able to catch up with the show's leading lady Ali Larter (Final Destination; Legally Blonde; Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) to talk about playing one of the most fiery characters of her career.
Larter breaks down working opposite the legendary Billy Bob Thornton for the first time, as well as working with series creator Taylor Sheridan for the first time, and also gets into what brings her character back into the fold after some time away.
As per the synopsis, Landman is "Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics."

Sometimes Tim Waggoner can make up scenes, and sometimes he can’t.
Take his work on Terrifier 2, a novelization of the popular 2022 killer-clown slasher movie. The studio wanted a 100,000-word prose adaptation of a film that was under two and a half hours, necessitating some creative license from the author. “If Art the Clown is running around killing people, I can just have him kill some more people,” says Waggoner of that book, which published this past October. “At one point in the movie, he’s driving a van, so I’m like, ‘Oh, where’d he get his van?’ So I wrote a scene where he got the van.”
But on Waggoner’s first published works for A24 — book adaptations of the X trilogy — the mandate was different: Don’t complicate writer-director Ti West’s creative vision. And so in X (published Sept. 24), Pearl (Nov. 19) and the upcoming...

2016's The Legend of Tarzan was a critical and commercial failure, even though it had assembled many of the ingredients that could have made it an adventure classic. The movie, which starred Alexander Skarsgrd as Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane, was a retelling of the story of the iconic Edgar Rice Burroughs character. Tarzan is a multimedia icon, and his story was adapted to the screen as early as 1918 in the silent film Tarzan of the Apes, with more than four dozen adaptations to follow, including Disney's Oscar-winning 1999 animated movie Tarzan.
The 2016 title is the most recent Tarzan movie to hit the big screen, and its general reception may be one reason that the property has since gone dormant on the big screen for nearly a decade. In addition to most likely failing to turn a profit in theaters, it was excoriated by critics and met with apathy from general audiences.

It’s 1978 in Jenkins, Texas, and, with their parents away, a group of teens decides to play spin the bottle in the basement of one of the group’s houses. The fact she does her best to get them to play elsewhere just makes them more determined to convince her. Once we see the basement, it’s obvious why she didn’t want them down there, it’s full of snakes, pentagrams and other spooky stuff. Needless to say, this does not end well.
In the present day, Cole and his mother Maura have run into rough times since the death of his father. She’s checking herself into a facility to get herself back together, he’s going to make the old family home liveable. But before he does,...

Just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in. When Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami left Capcom after having his fill of horror titles, the demand from fans for a new horror game followed him to his new studio, Tango Gameworks. After realizing fans were still hungry for more horror from him, Mikami set about giving them what they wanted with The Evil Within. A decade after its release, and a well-received sequel, Mikami leaving Tango Gameworks, and the studio’s subsequent closure have left The Evil Within series in limbo. Until that time if and when Microsoft decides to return to the series, we look back on The Evil Within, and just what made it a joy to play for those who followed Mikami’s career.
The Evil Within centers on detective Sebastian Castellanos, who is investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder at Beacon Mental Hospital with his team.

If you loved the grime and gore of director Damien Leone’s hit slasher film Terrifier 2, today you can get your hands on the film’s official novelization (grab your copy on Amazon), courtesy of Titan Books and Bloody Disgusting.
In this gruesome novelization of the hit horror film, from Tim Waggoner, author of the Halloween Kills and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter novelizations, the nightmarish Art the Clown returns from the dead to continue his murderous and mad spree in the sleepy town of Miles County, one year after they survived the events of Terrifier.
Little do they know the nightmare is about to begin anew…
Resurrected by a sinister entity, Art is back with an appetite for murder and mayhem—setting his sights on the recently bereaved teenager Sienna and her younger brother Jonathan. The streets are about to run with blood, and Sienna must somehow survive...

If read in order, the subtitles of the first six theatrically released "Resident Evil" movies almost ... almost ... spell out a "Divine Comedy"-like story arc. The first film is, naturally, merely called "Resident Evil" (2002), and it's about the release of a deadly, corporate-owned virus that turns the citizens of the world into zombies, creatures, or merely dead corpses. The film's sequel is subtitled "Apocalypse" (2004), implying that the virus escaped containment and infected the Earth. The third film is called "Extinction," implying that the virus did its job and humanity has become extinct. The arc is pretty clear.
What comes after extinction? Well, the fourth film is called "Afterlife" (2010), following the now-dead humanity into Elysium. How apropos. Sadly, the fifth film in the series is not called "Resurrection" or "Reincarnation," but "Retribution" (2012), kind of breaking the spiritual cycle. Perhaps with "Retribution," humanity has become a gaggle of vengeful ghosts? Or perhaps not.

Last year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and Barbarian’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Weapons, which they’re planning to give a theatrical release date on January 16, 2026, and they’re also paying Cregger a sum in the eight figure range to make the movie. In addition to working with them on Weapons, New Line signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, tasking the company with developing high concept genre projects for them, and they gave a greenlight to the sci-fi thriller Companion, produced by BoulderLight and Cregger. That film will be reaching theatres a full year ahead of Weapons… But while Cregger is collaborating with New Line Cinema, he’s also being courted by Sony Pictures. Industry scooper Jeff Sneider reports that Sony was hoping Cregger...

As eager as the Resident Evil community is for Capcom to remake Code Veronica, one of the franchise's most underrated games, the rumored project could be much smaller than expected. With Capcom's recent trend of taking older Resident Evil games and giving them a fresh coat of paint and modern mechanics, the question of Code Veronica's future is often discussed amongst fans. It may not have had the impact of the original game nor have the dedicated following of Resident Evil 4, but it's still a vital part of the canon that shouldn't be forgotten.
Over on Reddit, user Anthrax-Warhead shared a post originally published by reputable Capcom insider and leaker Dusk Golem alleging that the much-rumored Code Veronica remake will be smaller than the likes of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Capcom recently released its latest financial reports, and the company’s performance is garnering quite a bit of attention. Back in November, we learned that our friends at Cineverse’s Bloody Disgusting are expanding their multimedia horror brand with a new publishing imprint called Bloody Press, with the first projects on their agenda being novelizations of the films Terrifier, Terrifier 2, and Terrifier 3 (which is set to receive a theatrical release on October 11th). Now Variety has confirmed that the first of these books to reach store shelves will be a Terrifier 2 novelization written by Tim Waggoner, who has previously written novelizations of Halloween Kills and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Bloody Press and Titan Books will be bringing the Terrifier 2 novelization to store shelves on October 29th, just a couple weeks after Terrifier 3 reaches the big screen.

Horror fans are about to see Art the Clown in a whole new way this October when he comes to book form in a "gruesome" novelization of Terrifier 2.
Variety exclusively reports that the upcoming book version of the film will be penned by Tim Waggoner, who is no stranger to the horror genre and has written novelizations for movies like Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Halloween Kills, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Set one year after the events of Terrifier, Terrifier 2 picks up with Art returned from the dead as he ventures into the town of Miles County to terrorize its residents. As those who have watched Terrifier 2 know, the second film in the franchise took things even farther than the first, with Allie's death, in particular, becoming one of the goriest (and most drawn out) horror movie kills ever.
I wonder if reading about Allie's death...

Another day, another milestone for the Resident Evil franchise, this time with Resident Evil Village hitting the 10 million units sold milestone. Capcom made the announcement yesterday, coinciding with the release of the results of the Capcom Town survey, where fans voted on which franchise they would most like to see a sequel. And you’ll never guess what franchise won.
Three years since its 2021 release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on May 7, Resident Evil Village has earned 10 million sales worldwide, which makes it the fastest Resident Evil entry to do so. That doesn’t move the needle much in terms of its place on Capcom’s Platinum Titles list at number 6, though Village would now be firmly ahead of Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 and the Resident Evil 3 remake.
Capcom subsequently hasn’t updated their Platinum Titles list since March 31, so...

Following William Levy’s success starring in ViX’s Montecristo last year, the TelevisaUnivision streamer has signed Secuoya Studios and William Levy Entertainment to a production deal. Together, the companies will develop two new projects – the series, Arcadia (w/t) and the film, Bajo Un Volcán (w/t) – both starring Levy, who will also executive produce.
Arcadia (w/t) tells the story of Pablo (Levy), a man who flees due to a broken heart and a violent past. Under a false identity, he starts a new life with his son in Arcadia, an idyllic town in the Canary Islands. Bajo Un Volcán (w/t), follows an ill-timed and forbidden love happening amid a natural catastrophe. Both projects are set to start production later in the year.

Exclusive: Ever Anderson, an up-and-coming actress known for roles in Disney+’s Peter Pan & Wendy and Marvel’s Black Widow, has entered into a new strategic partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, sources tell Deadline.
We’re told there’s no official first-look deal here, though the hope at the streaming giant is to build a relationship with the rising star, identifying and developing future projects for her in both film and television.
Anderson, the daughter of director Paul W.S. Anderson and actress Milla Jovovich, is coming off of her role as Wendy Darling in Disney+’s Peter Pan & Wendy, a live-action Peter Pan remake directed for the streamer by decorated filmmaker David Lowery. Released last April, the film had her sharing the screen with Jude Law, Alexander Molony and Yara Shahidi, among others.

Resident Evil 9 is rumored to be set in Southeast Asia, a first for the series. According to leaker Dusk Golem, it will be a fictional rural town on an island inspired by Singapore. A Singapore setting would be a cool way to freshen Resident Evil up and showcase a different culture.
The Resident Evil franchise hasn't been afraid to shake things up over the years, and a rumor about the next new game in the series points to another franchise first on its way. Although every game is interconnected by unifying elements involving deadly viruses, various forms of the ruthless Umbrella corporation, and plenty of horrific enemies, there's a lot of room to do different things within that overarching lore. It's easy to jump into any mainline game and get a complete experience of its own, and the unique flavor provided by each can satisfy many different preferences.

Back in 1922 Campton Manor was the scene of an unexplained mass death, twenty-eight guests at a New Year’s party died of heart attacks at the same time. There was no trace of poison, and the case was never solved. The mansion has, needless to say, sat empty ever since.

Resident Evil remakes have been successful, but overdoing them risks franchise fatigue and stifles innovation. Capcom should focus future remakes on diverse experiences and impactful entries, not just mainline games. Re should prioritize titles with the potential for improveent in visuals, controls, and storytelling.
Resident Evil has cemented its position as a cornerstone of the survival horror genre. The recent remade versions have successfully reintroduced classic stories to a new generation, offering enhanced visuals and refined gameplay mechanics. However, focusing on remaking past entries carries risks. Choosing which games to remake requires careful consideration of their impact and potential for improvement.
According to a recent leak, Capcom is reportedly developing five new Resident Evil games, including the highly anticipated Resident Evil 9. Egos are charred and tempers seared in La Cocina, a kitchen nightmare set in the engine rooms of a vast Times Square eatery where the staff have more pressing things to worry about than rising temperatures. Take Pedro, a hardened and still-undocumented line cook whose outbursts of ideology can only mask his resentments and vulnerability for so long. Then there’s Julia (Rooney Mara), who is carrying Pedro’s unborn child, hiding her morning sickness in the staff room and planning to sneak out on break to get an abortion. And then there’s Estela (Anna Diaz), our eyes and ears: fresh off the proverbial boat, with barely a word of English, asking strangers on the subway how to get to 45th street before being unceremoniously tossed into a lunch shift that soon resembles The Raft of the Medusa, adrift on a sea of Cherry Coke.

The Tag, Mad Men, and Mean Girls star joins Billy Bob Thornton as a primary cast member for a contemporary oil rig drama. Based on the 11-part podcast Boomtown, Landman is “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
Jon Hamm plays Monty Miller in Sheridan’s Landman, a goliath in the Texas oil industry who has a long-standing personal and professional relationship with Thornton’s Tommy Norris. This post contains spoilers for the "Resident Evil" film franchise.
Umbrella Corporation. The name will forever be associated with unsavory, downright evil acts within the "Resident Evil" universe, catalyzing the events that define the franchise. Although Capcom's "Resident Evil" games have their own set of canonical events concerning Umbrella Corp., the film adaptations that branched into their own universe also paint this multinational conglomerate in a rather infamous light. In every iteration, Umbrella is never up to any good: be it the manufacture and mass production of biological weaponry, or ushering a new race of virus-enhance monstrosities. At the end of the day, the "Resident Evil" films also fit the survival-horror mold, with a woman named Alice (Milla Jovovich) at the center of the horrors crafted by none other than Umbrella.

Wyatt Russell and his father, Kurt Russell, will be playing the same character in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a new Godzilla series that spans two different time periods. Many children of famous actors, like Glenn Close's daughter Annie Starke and Mila Jovovich's daughter Ever Anderson, have followed in their parents' footsteps and even played younger versions of their parents' characters. Michael Gandolfini had to audition for the role of young Tony Soprano in The Many Saints of Newark and perfectly captured his father's iconic performance in The Sopranos.

Mercer is open to running a Resident Evil one-shot on Critical Role and is interested in exploring a small, unique place reminiscent of the original game's cramped mansion and subterranean laboratory. A Resident Evil one-shot would allow Mercer to delve into a different horror subgenre and explore character dynamics and close-quarters battles that TTRPGs excel at. While a one-shot is hypothetical, Mercer's deep knowledge of the franchise as both a player and voice actor, along with Critical Role's track record of bringing new and exciting stories to beloved worlds, would make Resident Evil a perfect addition to their impressive lineup.
Resident Evil: Death Island star Matt Mercer reveals what part of the world he would want to explore if given the opportunity to run a Resident Evil one-shot on Critical Role. Mercer is no stranger to Resident Evil. First a fan of the videogames, he joined the franchise as Leon S.

From Resident Evil 6 to Dead Space 3, multiplayer-focused horror games used to get a bad rap. This makes quite a bit of sense, as it’s hard to sustain interactive scares when players are distracted by their silly friends as they explore a spooky three-dimensional space. That being said, “hard” isn’t the same thing as “impossible,” and in recent years we’ve actually seen quite a few multiplayer horror games that manage to balance cooperative fun with legitimate digital scares.
And while there are plenty of well-known examples of cooperative horror out there (from the Dark Pictures Anthology titles to the recent Evil Dead game), today we’d like to highlight six of the most underrated Co-op horror games for players who have already experienced most of the famous ones. After all, there’s nothing quite like sharing interactive scares with your buddies – be it online or on the couch.

"Resident Evil: Death Island" brings together five iconic heroes as they battle a dangerous new villain on Alcatraz. The movie is set between "Resident Evil 6" and "Resident Evil: Vendetta," and before the events of "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard." Creators Eiichiro Hasumi, Makoto Fukami & Masachika Kawata explain how the film explores the legacy of the franchise while introducing new dynamics between the beloved characters, especially with the return of Jill.
Resident Evil: Death Island finally brings together five iconic Resident Evil heroes when Leon's mission to track down the missing Dr. Antonio Taylor leads him to Alcatraz. Simultaneously, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers are investigating a new outbreak, with the only commonality between the infected being the island. The team will need to work together to take down a dangerous new villain with horrifying machinations that could make him their most dangerous enemy yet.

Sure you had games like Amnesia and Outlast carrying the torch of horror in the indie scene, but you saw most publishers shy away from the genre as a whole in a post Resident Evil 6 world. This was upended when Konami revealed that none other than Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro were collaborating on a brand new Silent Hill game, which was revealed with a playable teaser called P.T. That game never saw the light of day but ideas and concepts in the teaser helped inspire Bloober Team to create Layers of Fear, a moody and atmospheric horror game that focuses less on outrunning enemies and more on telling the story of one man’s descent into madness as he struggles to create his magnum opus.

Resident Evil is one of the most successful survival horror franchises of all time, with its influence having spread into live-action films, stage plays, novels, and more - but of course, the heart of the series lies in its wonderful, lore-rich games. Multiple different continuities have been shaped throughout various forms of Re media, but the main timeline explored in Capcom's beloved games is known as the Prime Universe. As its name would imply, it's the most expansive and canon continuity, and it constitutes the majority of mainline Resident Evil games.

I’ve always been fascinated with the popularity of the Amnesia franchise. The first game came out in an era where survival horror was pretty much dead. It soon caught on with YouTubers and let’s-players overreacting to its unique flavor of horror. Like it or not, it kept the torch of survival horror lit during an era where Resident Evil 6 was the biggest horror game on shelves. This was soon followed by an outsourced sequel titled A Machine for Pigs that took everything players loved about the first game and tossed it all out in favor of a walking simulator through carefully curated scenes. It didn’t work. The series returned to the original developers with Rebirth and for the most part it felt like a back-to-basics approach with a bigger emphasis on story.
For fans, the Amnesia series was back and could go anywhere.

The Peter Pan & Wendy cast features a wide variety of actors, ranging from seasoned stars to young performers making their first-ever movie appearance. A live-action remake of Disney’s classic animated Peter Pan movie from 1953, Peter Pan & Wendy revolves around the titular duo’s adventure to the magical world of Neverland where they contend with a notorious pirate named Captain Hook. Peter Pan & Wendy is director David Lowery’s second Disney movie after Pete’s Dragon, one of the earliest and most critically acclaimed in the Mouse House’s ongoing series of live-action remakes of its classics.
There are both familiar faces and promising up-and-comers in the Peter Pan & Wendy cast. The title characters are played by relative newcomers – Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson, respectively – but the supporting cast includes screen icons like Jude Law, Jim Gaffigan, and the young but prolific Yara Shahidi. During the long...

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” has already topped $1.2 billion worldwide and should end its theatrical run with around $1.3 billion global, the second-biggest animated film ever behind “Frozen II,” which pulled in $1.45 billion in 2019. Alongside its massive $535 million-and-counting domestic total, the next biggest market for “Super Mario” is not China or the U.K. but rather Japan, where it has earned $60 million thus far.
That is one of the biggest cumulative totals in the post-covid era for a Hollywood film in Japan, between the $46 million earned by “Jurassic World Dominion” and the $101 million earned by “Top Gun: Maverick.” The latter ranks 11th among all-time Hollywood earners in Japan. In terms of video game-based movies, the Chris Pratt/Anya Taylor-Joy/Jack Black fantasy is already over double the $27 million Japanese gross of “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu” in 2019, and just above the $48 million Japanese total of “Resident Evil: Retribution” in 2012 and the $55 million Japanese...

“It was incredible,” the 15-year-old said of her parents getting to see her in the film. “My parents gave me some amazing advice going into this.”
“Me and my mom did line readings for the audition.” Ever said. “For the movie, it was more, we’d get onto set, all of us, and then wing it and have a lot of fun.”
She added. “I didn’t really do any line reading with anyone when we were filming, but definitely for the audition I worked with my mom on it.

Resident Evil 4 sees the return of the mysterious Ada Wong in both the original and remake versions as her mission has her come across Leon S. Kennedy again. Ada doesn't get as much screen time as characters like Leon, Luis, and Ashley, but the Dlc Separate Ways from the original RE4 gives a bit of insight into why she shows up in an area infected by Las Plagas. Ada's motivations tend to be unclear, but after the events of RE4, the question of whose side she's on begins to receive a clearer answer.
Ada Wong is kept in a mysterious role in Resident Evil 2 and RE4, leaving players uncertain if she's there to help them or make their tasks more difficult each time she appears. While it's difficult to know what a character like Ashley's future is after Resident Evil 4, quite a bit is known about Ada's...

Thirty years after “Super Mario Bros.” essentially began the notion of a video-game-based movie with a whimper, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” has given the genre its first uncontested mega-smash. The $100 million-budgeted Illumination/Universal toon has now passed $500 million in global grosses, becoming the biggest-earning video game-based movie ever in raw domestic and worldwide earnings.
That includes $260.3 million in North America and $248.4 million overseas for a $508 million running total, with just $13.3 million of that coming from China. The domestic figure is not just well above the $191 million gross of “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” from last year, it’s well above the inflation-adjusted $212 million total of Angelina Jolie’s “Tomb Raider,” which earned $131 million in 2001.
