All aspects are good , Directions, screenplay, & story.
Kay Kay menon was just outstanding with his best performance and the role is perfect for him.
Supporting roles also were good enough Only one negative is the screenplay sometimes feels lengthy and boring.
The climax scene was too dramatic.should have shown a lil bit downfall of snehashish(shekhar) for sometime and then could've shown the climax scene.
The ending clearly gives a glimpse that a 2nd part may come that was good.
Over-all the time of the series is okay not too short not too long.
Background score was outstanding and the string music was perfect with each scene.

Watched this series with low expectation.. And watched it for KK Menon and Ranvir Shorey and they didn't disappoint. Every episode has a different detective story except the last two episodes which are interconnected.
At first I thought it would be a adaptation of Sherlock Holmes series but it's not. I repeat it's not.
There isn't any big mystery or something in every episode but they were decent and it won't bore you.
Although there is a bit of shocker waiting for you in climax which gives this series a bit more breath of fresh air... Otherwise I would have given it 6/10 had it went on expected lines..
Enjoy 🍻

I have yet to watch the original BBC Sherlock Holmes story on which this Indian adaptation is based; therefore, I would humbly refrain from drawing any sort of comparison here.
Although I'll gladly admit I have taken a liking to the cast selection here. Kay Kay Menon as Sherlock, aka Shekhar, offbeat yet a genius persona was spot on. We all know he's a capable actor, and he did perform to his merits here.
The same remark applies for Ranbir Shorey too for he had gelled well as Shekhar's witty and inquisitive partner in investigation.
As for the format, whilst the first four episodes are treated as mini stories, with different type of crimes and their varying resolutions, last two acted as critical junctures to Shekhar's mysterious handlings in the past which led him right into a bigger conspiracy.
Suffice to say, I liked the concluding episodes better, primarily because they had more depth and material to show for.

Smart, quick witted and desi adaptation of the Sherlock series. While one constantly keeps the comparison on the back of the mind all the time, this is quite well written despite the tall standards it has to live up to. Kay Kay Menon does a phenomenal job. Though i would have preferred a younger lad to don his role. After a long long time one can really look forward to a desi sleuth series next edition.
The 90s setting, the Bengali nuances and the top notch characters written for the supporting roles as well puts this as an interesting one to binge watch. Each episode is quite different and yet seamlessly blends and transitions from the previous one. And the plots are well written to make it believable in the 90s setting.

Shekhar home is a official adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. Produced by BBC India studio.
So you can relax on the fact that, the source material is authentic and they don't have to cook up some lame story.
Now! About the show. Much of it is like the show Benedict stared Sherlock Holmes. The first episode is taken from A Study in Pink, Hounds of Baskerville became the Bhaskar Villa and etc. Basically the plot is an amalgamation of Sherlock Holmes season 1 & 2. But! Not a direct copy. They actually put effort and created a something new from those plots.
As a show in whole, it's okay! Not mind boggling or extraordinary. No! It's okay. But! Definitely watchable.

Kay Kay Menon ! I am his fan so no words to describe his acting. In the begining you may find it boring or stereotype but my friend wait till the end there are many surprises. I was not happy with the name but it was justified so well. Overall everything works so well in this series. Direction, acting and most important the series is based out in 90s and they have shown us with very low budget you can create such a wonderful series.
I would love to watch Menon again in such roles and I hope BBC will continue to produce another part of its there.
Lastly, if you love crime solving series, this is for you. Please don't compare with Benedict's Sherlock home and enjoy over Indian espionage Mr. Menon.
Go for it !! That's my word.

An intriguing title with a twist on the popular character Sherlock Holmes immediately grabbed my attention. Justifying a character inspired by such an iconic name is certainly a task in itself.
This story is set in a small village, Lonpur, in West Bengal, where a small-time but brilliant detective, Shekhar Home, solves petty cases for the villagers. With the arrival of his new flatmate and crime-solving partner, he begins to tackle bigger cases.
Each episode is dedicated to one case, making it a quick watch that doesn't drag. The West Bengal setting gives the series a much-needed sense of Indianness. However, the cases are not particularly intriguing, as they seem to be solved too easily, taking away some of the fun.
Kay Kay Menon portrays the complex character with great sincerity and fits the role perfectly. Ranveer Shorey, as his aide, provides strong support. Rasika Dugal and Kirti Kulhari have limited screen time but leave an impression, especially the former. The rest of the supporting cast performs well in their respective roles.
What's lacking here are the nuances in solving cases, which are present in the Hollywood versions. Here, everything feels like a cakewalk and somewhat rushed. The background score is praiseworthy, adding charm to the show. The final episode is the best, offering a treasure hunt-style challenge for Shekhar Home, which keeps you intrigued. The climax is unexpected and works well for the audience.
It's a good idea to adapt the character to an Indian context, but they couldn't quite recreate the magic, largely due to amateur writing. It feels more like episodes of CID. Nevertheless, it's decent timepass, and with only 6 episodes, each roughly 30 to 40 minutes long, it's worth a try as it won't take up too much of your time.

Amazing treat for sherlock fans. If you are watching this after being a fan of elementary then you wont be disappointed. Kay Kay Menon sir and Ranvir sir are an absolute delight. The direction is fantastic and background score is good.
The suspense buildup is good. It is the first time that detective series of such good quality has been made. The character of sherlock and watson has been accurately depicted with such simplicity. It has been beyond my expectation. With no much hindering about it has short episodes and hits onto the point. All the supporting characters have been played flawlessly. The character of irene played as iravaty has been magnetic too. I am eagerly waiting for season 2.

I won't say its a rip off since its produced by BBC but its definitely an adaption of Sherlock Holmes. I know some reviewers here commented here that its not a Shelock homes adaption but being an ardent Sherlock holmes fan, I can tell you its an adaption for sure. First episode is copy of 'study on pink' and second is picked from 'Red headed league'. Couldn't muster the courage to watch others. Ofcourse the settings and few elements are changed but anyone who has read and watched Sherlock holmes (and the Benedict Cumberbatch's version) can easily make out the base story remains same so there is no mystery here. Since I have watched all Sherlock Holmes adaptions, there was no element of surprise for me. Sorry but it wasn't elementary.
So BBC has produced this for Indian viewers and honestly it is just an average affair. This series gave me nostalgic feel of Byomkesh Bakshi due to story being set in West Bengal.
The writing and episodes have been heavily copied from original BBC tv series and they have been just modified in terms of Indian demographics. If you are looking for originality in storytelling similar to shows like Elementary then you should not watch it. But for someone getting introduced to wonderful world of Sherlock Holmes then it is ok to watch but I will not recommend it to others who have seen Sherlock before.

I don't understand. Why we settle for cheap copy paste. Why can't we be original like Byomkesh Bakshi? May be stalwart like KK Menon needed money, but do we realise how all this impacts Brand 'Bharat'? Brand KK Menon? May be people who are going gaga over this haven't seen the original yet. Once they see the original they'll realise that there's nothing much to offer in direction, story line and even acting (as one needs to just copy the character). I started watching it and quickly realised the references from original are not just references, they are exactly lifted from the original show (Sherlock)
The lead actor K. K. Menon done a great job but sometimes it feels like he was 2-3 steps ahead of everything that annoys sometimes, the character development of Shekhar is somewhat over-powered,
If you watched S. S. R. Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, there you can compare the difference of portraying the role of these two detectives. I m not saying K. K. has to learn from S. S. R. But he has to first need to watch these kind of movies or shows before going for the second season. Ranvir Shorey is quite impactful done a good job, I thought he is Playing the role of Watson but end up in a negative role. Good luck to the team for second season.
Anwar Says: Another Hindi Version of Sherlock Homes and Dr. Watson stories is streaming on Jiocinema but overall failed to captivate the audience, in spite of two best actors of Hindi Celluloid, Kay Kay Menon and Ranbir Shourey. Simply didn't understand, why the production underplayed the whole thing . They had top casting, two experienced directors Srijit Mukherjee and Rohan Sippy directing the 6 episodes, excellent cinematography of Kolkata lanes and perfect background score but sometimes it is endearing and sometimes underwhelming.
The supporting cast Shernaz Patel, Rashika Duggal , Kirti Kulhari and Kaushik Sen also played their role as given. But it is the rapport of Shorey and Menon would take you to finish the episodes, even after its shortcomings. The Batik Kurtas and shirts of Menon would catch your eyes besides his mannerisms and timings.
The first four episodes goes with languid pace and speed up in fourth and fifth directed by Sippy. Still I would recommend this in this long weekend as you get something different on OTT after a long time.

Sherlock Holmes is definitely an iconic, legendary and immortalised character. The Indigenised spin-Off is equally engaging and entertaining. The casting is immaculate and so is the context and the resembling names of the cases. Acting was quite spot on and the final episode of Season 1 ( hopefully there are others) had an interesting climax. Also a word for the background score which was also very apt and still rings in my ears. The need for a Watson would still be there. Direction was superlative. However, there was a need for a formidable villian in many of the episodes. Eagerly awaiting for a second and third season and the novelty isn't lost.

It's only for kids ...... aadalat (KD Pathak) is better than this childish drama. Every story had very bad ending. And the storyline is very weak. Even could write better stories than this. Every story you gone know very much 100% what's gonna next. Or Every move of that detective is something that your seen in some crime drama even worst that that. I think the cast had no other work than this foolish drama. But the acting part is good by Everyone . That's only good point about that webseries That's why I have given it 2 star's. Because of good acting you gona expect that maybe next episode is better but every episode storyline is disappointed.

You never know what happened next definately one of the best series for suspense thriller genre you always want to curious what happened next only bad thing about this series it ends so soon. Cast of this series is definately to amazing hats of to Kay Kay Menon and Ranveer Shorey what a performance and also other cast every episode is entertaining and with new story not like that same story in different episodes. This series reminds me Byomkesh Bakshi television series.
Believe me you love this series maybe some flaws in this series but you love it. Worth it for your time and internet data recommendation from my side.

When I watched first episode, I was not that hopeful and it took some effort to continue. Having watched so many Sherlock adaptions already, this one felt unnecessary and KK appeared to be out of role and overacting. But as series progresses, you not only adjust to his style of acting, you also start to appreciate the background, the 90s setting and all the characters.
The stories are all adapted from original Sherlock stories but have that Bengal touch to it that still gives these stories some unique flavour.
The climax is good and though it starts to become obvious as end nears, it's definitely not entirely predictable and manages to throw in a good surprise.
I definitely recommend this series for anyone looking to enjoy a series during a relaxing evening.

The web series starts of very good with its first episode, the dialogues, the screenplay, everything was perfect on episode one compelling you to watch the second episode which was also pretty good, this is where things start to go downhill.
The next two episodes make no progress on the story whatsoever, episode three and four are just episodes where we get to learn about the character of Kay Kay Menon and hear Ranvir Shorey say "ye kya kar rahe ho shekhar?" Again and Again.
It then corrects this mistake by making episode give one of the best episodes of this web series adding a new plot twist which continues on to episode six, everything was great until the final climax which just seems out of the box.
I don't know if the screenplay is written in this way, but it feels very under budget, very poor production quality of the sets and camera shots and the cinematography overall.
An average watch storywise but binge watch worthy, might be a bit boring in the middle though.

When a film is marketed as a detective thriller, viewers naturally expect an engaging story filled with suspense, twists, and a gripping narrative that keeps them on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, this movie, which boasted a promising cast like kay kay menon, Ranvir shorey and and an intriguing premise, fails to deliver on all fronts, resulting in a deeply unsatisfying experience.
From the outset, the movie struggles with its screenplay. A well-written screenplay is the backbone of any successful film, but in this case, the script is marred by poor pacing, weak dialogue, and a narrative that seems to drag on aimlessly. The scenes are disjointed, with little to no cohesion between them, leaving the audience confused and disengaged. Instead of building tension and anticipation, the film meanders through a series of uninspired plot points that fail to capture any real sense of mystery or urgency.
The story itself is another major letdown. What should have been a compelling detective story with intricate clues, red herrings, and a shocking revelation at the end turns out to be a tedious and predictable affair. The plot is riddled with cliches, and any attempt at creating a complex narrative falls flat. The supposed twists and turns are so obvious that they can be seen coming from a mile away, and when the final revelation is made, it feels more like a formality than a genuine surprise. The film lacks the intellectual engagement that one expects from a detective thriller, leaving the audience feeling cheated and frustrated.
Adding to the disappointment is the complete absence of suspense. A detective movie thrives on its ability to keep viewers guessing, to make them question every character's motives, and to create an atmosphere of uncertainty and tension. Sadly, this film fails on all counts. There is no sense of danger, no moments of genuine fear or excitement, and certainly no scenes that make the viewer's heart race. Instead, the movie plods along with a lifeless and predictable narrative, offering no thrills and leaving little to the imagination .

Episode 1 = 8/10
nice beginning, good establishment, good actors, good camera work, direction and edit. It's a fine work of art.
Episode 2 = 7/10 Bit funny, good execution of small story, enjoyable.
Episode 3 = 5/10 predictable story and bad acting, extremely bad execution. Even plot holes.
Episode 4 = 2/10 Utter boaring episode. I was like why did you even put this episode in the series. Each and every scene was predictable and new actors were so bad that you are forced to leave it in between.
You shouldn't bring all those people. And leave story events disconnected.
All that hype which I had in ep1 and ep2 started to go off and just by the ep4 I'm writing this review.
I tried to watch ep 5 but I failed as It had disappointed me so much that I need a break to watch this series futher. Movies are for entertainment not for headaches, irritation or frustration. Ep3 irritated me and ep4 was the reason for frustration.
Any way, Don't hope too much from this series. Watch ep 1 and ep 2 and think "That was all in the series for your mental peace." becuase the way it disappoint you, You might start to hate the real Sherlock series.
No need to thank me, You are welcome.

If you haven't yet had the chance to watch *Sherlock Holmes*, I highly recommend adding it to your list, especially if you enjoy detective series. The show is a modern adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories, featuring the brilliant but eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, and his loyal friend Dr. John Watson, portrayed by Martin Freeman. The series is known for its clever plot twists, intense intellectual challenges, and intricate mysteries that keep you on the edge of your seat. Although each episode is packed with thrilling moments and sharp dialogue, there are gaps and subtleties that might leave you pondering and revisiting certain scenes. These gaps, however, add to the show's charm, inviting viewers to think critically and piece together the puzzles alongside the characters. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but if you're into detective shows, *Sherlock Holmes* is a must-watch. If you've already seen it or if detective dramas aren't your thing, feel free to explore other genres or series that intrigue you. I have given my best.
