The 2024 thriller "House on Rockingham", from writer and director Stephen Folker, was a movie that I had never heard about. I happened to have the chance to sit down to watch the movie, and so I did, without knowing what I was in for, aside from it being a movie that I hadn't already seen and the fact that it was a thriller of sorts.
I have to say, though, that the narrative in "House on Rockingham" is slow paced, so very, very slow paced. Running at a mere 78 minutes and without anything absolutely interesting having happened at all. Thus making sitting through the movie quite a struggle and a test of willpower.
I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. However, I will say that the acting performances in the movie were actually fair, despite the fact that they had virtually nothing interesting to work with in terms of script and storyline.
If you enjoy suspenseful thrillers with a good story to keep you on the edge of your seat, skip on watching "House on Rockingham". On the other hand, if you enjoy watching a movie totally devoid of an interesting storyline and without the slightest of interesting things happening throughout a sluggish narrative, well, then you're in for quite the treat should you opt to sit down and watch writer and director Stephen Folker's 2024 'thriller' "House on Rockingham".
78 minutes straight down the drain is what I can say after having suffered through the ordeal that is "House on Rockingham", in a weak and desperate hope of the movie's narrative picking up in pace and contents. It just never happened. Some of us literally suffered through this movie so you don't have to, you're very welcome.
My rating of "House on Rockingham" lands on a very, very generous two out of ten stars, and that is based on the production value and the acting performances, because there was absolutely nothing to the narrative that proved worthwhile. How this movie has managed to land a 5.2 rating on IMDb, which was its rating when I sat down to watch it, is simply beyond my comprehension.

First off. I watch a horror/thriller movie 3 out of every 4 nights. It would be 4/4 if I wasn't a firefighter and working the 4th night. This has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's not because of the actors themselves. They're good enough for this D- grade garbage. The editing on the other hand is a whole other story. It is painful. It's like they grabbed someone fresh out of high school and said "think you could splice this together for a six pack and some Monopoly money?" Almost turn based talking.
I specifically looked for this page to write this review so that you don't have to watch this movie. There was no RT page so I couldn't leave the review there. So here we are. 1 Star. The other review here gave it 2 and he's being generous. Very generous.

I came across this movie whilst generally browsing on a wet afternoon. Watched the trailer and thought maybe this could be good. Wrong!!!! It is rubbish. The acting is fair for completely unknown actors but the story just drags on and on with nothing interesting happening. There's a twist which to be honest you can see coming a mile off half way through. It then hurriedly gets to the ending with no surprises, no drama and basically no nothing. Really do wonder how some of these films get made and who thinks they're good enough to be made. I guess the producer/directors. Don't waste your time with this one.

This film definitely keeps you guessing. While it initially seems apparent who the antagonist might be, it's surprisingly refreshing to learn the twist.
The visual editing and sound design are strong, leading to a suspenseful atmosphere accompanied by a subtle yet unnerving musical score.
The acting is also natural and believable. While the story itself might seem simple upon a glance, it definitely throws you for a loop.
The acting is well supported by the directing and cinematography which helps to enhance the overall mood in making us care about these characters. Evidently a newcomer, the lead actress gives a strong and impactful performance.
Well done!
