I've never heard Pete Holmes before so I had no idea what to expect. But he's actually really hysterical. He pulls from everyday stuff that most people can relate to and there was literally no overtly political lines. He had a lot of jokes that have to simmer for just a few micro-seconds before they sink in. I was surprised to find this American guy who just talks about life and had me cracking up because its very rare today. Most comics today think they need to represent their culture and bash one group or another. But Pete just makes fun of things and situations and he really feels genuine in front of the mic instead of rehersed or annoyed at having to do a show. He wasn't trying to mention all the latest celebrity gossip or take a shot at a sports hero or twist some political story into a bid for the most laughs. But I was literally peeing my pants, I laughed so hard.
I feel like standup comedians should stay away from commenting on how a joke did or didn't land, unless they really commit to a self-reflective style or find a genuinely clever/funny way to do it.
When Pete Holmes did it here, it kind of made me wince - I swear at one point, he says something along the lines of "if I was in the crowd, I would've laughed really hard at that" when a joke doesn't land, and though he tries to make that kind of comment funnier (he does admittedly phrase it better), the sentiment is still lame and awkward.
It almost made me forget about how large parts of this special are quite funny - I'd say it's more good than bad, though there are a few other jokes here and there that don't quite land, and some that go on too long. It was still a decent time to listen to in any event.

Just over one hour of the awesome standup humor from Pete Holmes. Minneapolis. Eating junk food. Sex toys. Pooping. How things have changed (or not changed!) since the days of covid lockdown. Even the title is funny... I'm not for everyone. That's perfect! Let's people know they may not like his type of humor. Taking care of his kids. Laughing at and with the funny things they say. Sports. A little time on religion. But not too much. Great stuff! Directed by oren brimer, who has directed TONS of stuff with pete. I do love pete holmes jokes. We must have the same sense of humor. He's just so much better at telling jokes. And i'm really good at laughing at his jokes! Released october 24 on the netflix.
Real funny humorous and typical Pete Holmes style comedic style jokes loved them. Covering large broad range of topics from dick jokes to baby bums. Really liked this because it was very true to his original style which is very weird and also wicked funny. Love him from all Conan appearances and delightfully funny every time. He is always self aware of how stupid and mundane many jokes and observations his might be but that doesn't deter from him cracking up wholesome fashion making us rejoice in his confidence ! Thanks to Pete for making me chuke throughout the special in his soweird way. Wish him all very best for all future specials 💐

There is something about Pete Holmes that just gets on my nerves. I am not sure what it is. It is not this special-which I hesitated to watch because every time I saw him on several television shows. His stand up special is bright and has some funny moments. He is pretty self aware and his commentary on his shortcomings are pretty astute. He has some interesting and cute societal observations on eating, on working out, and on life after the lockdown. His dungaree jacket and jeans are perfect for him but they actually annoying to me. The stage and Direction are good and he looks like it's the dress rehearsal. Just not for me, but not terrible.

Prior to watching this special, I hadn't heard of Pete Holmes (no offense to him or anything, I don't really keep up with comedy at all). That said, the trailer seemed like I would at least get a few laughs, but I wasn't expecting much as I've been burned before.
Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. I can happily now say that I've got a new favorite to add to my list of comedians I watch out for. Sure, he's not for everyone. I, however, really enjoy his work.
His overall demeanor is just generally fun. It wasn't a family-friendly, clean show but it didn't get dark and depressing nor was he self-aggrandizing. His timing is good and it all felt very fresh to me.
Looking forward to future work for sure.

This one is truly bad. Like many comedians' subsequent stand up routines, this one is extremely thin on content. Take away all of the bedroom and bathroom jokes, there is about five minutes of actual comedy, and not too funny at that. I think I had one chuckle.
Add to this the endless giggling by the comedian at his own jokes, something he is far too old to keep doing, and this one is not worth your time.
Too bad, back-when he was a candidate to be an important player in the game, different enough from the standard fare, but he could not keep it going apparently. Spread too thin or not enough to start with? Doesn't matter, same fate as John Mullaney.
