Only problem I had is that RJ Mitte's character speaks with an American accent when the movie is set in Australia and it's never once said that he's an American in the movie. Still a cute and heartwarming movie regardless.

It's such a inspiring movie recently seen. Disability, so what!!?? I found my way out. There should be something each of us are good at. No one can change what you are. Be yourself, hell yeah.. the movie is funny with tears, nicely done.
Among the current lot of dud movies...this is a nice watch with a different perspective...do watch it. Worth your while.

Sunny Sunday chilling with the wife and we stumbled across this move on STAN. Going in with zero expectations we came out with tears and laughter. What a gem of an Aussie romcom!
"I am not superficial. I do all the Telethons. Those things last all night." So true.
And then there is Gordo and his punch lines.
Must watch if you are a laid back Aussie couple. (The wife will love it)
Thank me later.

Nice movie with heart. Depends on your mood how you feel about the movie but I was glad I watched it. Heart warming. Nice acting, nice story. More than nice actually. It was touching for me.
OK so it's not a 10 (I did that to counter the idiot who only gave it a 1) it's probably an 8. The only drag is the lead actress's acting ability is not great... poor soap opera actress... Australia has MUCH better than here but I guess they had a low budget and she was the best they could get that could also covert mega cuteness factor? Once you ignore that blemish she delivers enough for you to enjoy the rest of the beautiful simple genius of this charming film and it's central character delivered wonderfully by RJ Mitte.

Currents in Sydney on a holiday. My mate and I had a few hours to kill on this wet evening so we headed to the Ritz Cinema and went to see standing up for sunny. Sadly this was the mistake of the night as we will
never get these hours back, calling this a charming comedy is as true as Nigel Farage calling off Brexit. This plot is is dull and humorous-less as they come. This convoluted directionless story gives the audience the gam moth of disabilities from cerebral palsy, bulimia to blindness. RJ Mitte is the only positive from this mess, the The rest of the actors are mere furniture and background noise. The lead actress is played by an ex home and away alumn who get swallowed up with a thankless role. The poor girl is woefully miscast and maybe she should consider a return to the soap or some acting 101 classes such is her inability sadly. I work as a casting director assistant in London and I would advice the cast of this mess to leave it off their showreel as I can guarantee any acting clip from this film would mean immediate dumping in rubbish by any half decent casting director. Anyway my friend gave up halfway through but I stuck it out to its inevitable conclusion, ehich was obvious as the day is long. I know Australian comedy can be far better than this dirge. I'll chalk it down as being a mistake on my part. My final word; avoid, far more interesting things to do with your precious time: maybe cutting your toenails or rearranging your sock drawer.

27 yr/o male here. I really enjoyed this movie. The humour was light hearted and the story line was good. It's a rom-com without being too chick flicky with the story line and humour type. I found it genuinely funny and with good characters. I'm not a fan of most rom coms as I often find the humour to be too corny or over the top. This wasn't the case. This mixed in with an unconventional, conventional, love story made it really enjoyable and an easy watch.
The other thing I really enjoyed (maybe I'm showing my age) is how it highlights the lives of people with disabilities which is really important in our society. It also showed people who watch it that may have a disability that they can find their normality in life if they just follow their passions and stay positive.
This would be a great movie to show in schools
It's a Stan exclusive or original I believe. So if you're wondering where to watch it... you'll need a Stan account.
I'll give it a 9/10.

I have seen probably around two thousand movies and after seeing so many, it's hard to find really good ones. This is one of the good ones! It made me laugh, it made me weep, it made me angry and it did all of it in a very natural entertaining way.
I absolutely loved every second of it.
In my view, what makes a movie good is how it makes one feel, little details like the fact lead didn't use Austrialian accent - is totally irrelevant, I mean seriously? You think makers of movie didn't consider it? They just decided to not do it.
