Please get rid of this narrator. I will gladly volunteer for the job because ANYTHING has to be better than listening to something so fake and annoying. I can't even watch the second episode knowing that I'd have to hear that voice again. If someone can advise me if and when the narrator changes, then I'll watch again. Don't you show a preview to an audience and get feedback? I can't believe a panel would agree with this being a good voice over. I doubt even .1% of the women from the south can even tolerate listening to this. The voice takes away from this being a crime show and makes it feel like a dull headache.
I'm a true crime junkie. Absolutely love these kinds of shows and I was so looking forward to this one as a Georgia native. My whole family was. But that narrator. Lord help. The overdone, clearly fake accent is offensive and the reason I won't be watching this show again. Why would the producers/Wolf Entertainment think it was a good idea to get someone who isn't a true southerner to narrate? There's so many great southerner actors out there. Heck, if y'all need someone who actually speaks with a southern accent, give me a call. I've been told I read well and have a great voice for voice work.
I will not be watching the show, even though I love Dick Wolf's shows. I cannot handle listening to that phony, southern accent. I can't take it. I don't know why with all the wonderful voice actors out there they could not come up with a real southern accent that would be enticing instead of irritating as all get out. I am a dedicated fan of every Dick Wolf show, and I was looking forward to this one as well, but I will not be watching it if they continue to use that narrator. Honestly, I don't know what they are thinking by having this person involved in this show. If they change the narrator, I will continue to watch. Otherwise, it's adios for me.

I cannot watch this show due to the narrator's awful fake southern accent. It appears that she was born and raised in London, England. The show would be watchable if it were not for the over the top fake accent. I was looking forward to another series from Dick Wolf and I was sadly disappointed with this one. I could not get through more than 10 minutes of the first episode due to the narration. Even the commercials for the show annoy me because of the narrator. I'm sure if she narrated it using her natural voice it would be a great improvement and would make the show another of Wolf's successes.

I could not finish the 1st episode because the narrarator's accent is an abomination. I was born a Yankee but I lived in Georgia for over. 30 years, and I never never heard anyone speak like that in my life. It is not even funny. It is an insult to anyone who lives or lived in the South. How could you not hear that? Who was in your audience when you tested the series? I expect so much more from Dick Wolf productions. I hope you are getting 1000s of complaints and redo the narration even though it is hoing to cost you money. You are pisding off a whole lot of people.
Get rid of the narrarator and I might watch again.

Had a terrible day, couldn't wait to relax and watch TV. Turned the TV on and started to do dishes. 10 minutes into it I was ready to throw a brick through my television! The oxygen channel was on which is a frequent channel that I watch but the woman narrating sins of the South just put me over the edge! Are you kidding me? It's not even a real southern accent. The people from the south must Cringe over this Women's fake accent! It is so Irritating! What are the producers of this show thinking? Same thing with The Narrator for forensic files II. They went from Filet mignon to ground beef!!!!!
This could be a great show that I would actually watch, if they would get rid of the fake southern narration. I can never watch more than a couple of minutes because that voice is so annoying. I'm not sure who made the decision to take a serious show, and turn it into a joke with this obvious fake southern accent. I live in the south, and have never known anyone that actually speaks this way. The closest I've ever seen was a bad southern play once, but even they kept it to a minimum. Almost every review I've seen is the same complaint. With this many complaints maybe they will make a change, and I can actually enjoy the show.

Please make that narrator stop talking! I like the show but she makes me want to scream. Literally no one talks like that in the south. I would feel bad for her but she is so annoying and stupid sounding. She obviously watched Steel Magnolias way too many times. Why do shows with stories from the south have to have that kind of narration? Just be real and not so blatantly fake. The show is good but please please please get a new narrator. By the end of the show I'm so annoyed I usually don't even remember the episode. Anyway, keep up the great shows you put out. I always look forward to new shows and episodes.

I see I'm not the only one who can't stand the fake southern accent! When this show had preview commercials about its release, that was the first thing I noticed! I've only lived in the south for about 5 years and I immediately noticed it was SO phony. I was thinking what region/area is that accent from? I googled the narrator and she is from London England! Why couldn't they just get a narrator that had a southern accent? I don't get it, but it really is distracting. The show is actually pretty good besides the narration. I'd like to watch a few more episodes, I really think the producer should look into a more appropriate and authentic narrator though!
It's not a bad show. Well done and directed, good storyline and the facts are well presented. But.. that narrator has to go. Her southern twang is just a bit much. It doesn't even sound natural, it sounds put on and over exaggerated. Plus the fact that the story in episode one season one, is an old crime story that anyone who's watched Dateline or other Oxygen crime shows, has seen this particular story before. It's just presented with a southern feel and sound to it. It won't hold up well in the reruns, much like Southern Gothic didn't last very long. I'll continue to watch but the narration is horrible.

I decided I would listen and watch as I had a late lunch. I decided that I'm going to fast because this narration made me lose my appetite. I was going to logon and write a review, but I read the phones previously posted and they all say the same thing there's no way that person is from the south. Maybe for her training she watched Gone with the Wind over and over and even then she still doesn't get it right !
During section s of the same sentence the accent disappears but sadly it doesn't stay gone for long. You would think the producer and directors even the narrator would take a hint from the police or investigators as to what people in the South really sound like. If the get a different narrator for a season 2 I will watch outer wise count me out.

I thought the episode was nicely done, but the narrator annoyed me throughout. I don't believe she's Southern at all, and I guess the show creators think all of us talk like that. If she is from the South, she's trying too hard. The accent was awful in my opinion. As far as the episode itself is concerned, I enjoyed watching and will continue to watch. It didn't bother me that the story was old, I've seen the same stories across different true crime shows before on Oxygen (Snapped, Dateline, Dateline: Secrets Uncovered, Buried in the Backyard, etc.).
I sincerely wish that I didn't have to hear the woman's voice again, but I guess I can deal with it.

The show is actually pretty good, but the fake southern-accent narrator is embarrassing, insulting and extremely annoying! Why can't they use a true southerner to do the narration? Fake southern accents are so condescending. If they can't find a qualified southerner (and I feel sure they can), let the narrator use her own accent. It's absolutely ridiculous and naive to think that this annoying voice is appealing. Not only is it unprofessional, but it detracts from the credibility of the program. It makes me cringe. Surely they can do better. Come on now, please. Let southerners be southerners.
I think I could enjoy the show, but with a different narrator. That woman with the FAKE over exaggerated southern voice has got to go. Absolutely the most annoying thing I have ever heard. I'm sure there are plenty of other narrators that could be chosen from. If she would use her own voice, I think the show would be taken more seriously. And if you need a voice with a southern accent, then use a true southerner to do it and not an actress raised in London. I'm sure Abigail Marlowe could use her normal voice and we would all be much happier with it. I'm sorry, but I just can watch it until she is replaced.

It's hard to actually rate the episode because the narrator's accent is excruciating, horribly, awfully BAD, bless her heart. One cannot seriously pay attention to the story.
My Granny is old, Deep South born and bred "in high cotton" and neither she nor any of her contemporaries, family, friends, strangers, absolutely no one in The South sounds that syrupy slow and stupid. Stop it - recast or voiceover... If nothing else, listen to the real folks interviewed, especially the women, and y'all will hear the difference and how insulting that narrator really is.
But please, y'all, whatever makes your ears hurt less, stop the stereotypical drawl...just STOP.

Have mercy on my ears! This is the worst fake southern accent I have ever heard in my 65 years on this earth. I cannot watch this show because of the fake southern accent the narrator uses. This show will lose most southern viewers because of that fake accent! Good grief, it's an insult to all Southerners! Just stop with the fake accent! It's AWFUL!!! Why, would anyone with ears, think that this fake accent is acceptable to listen to??? If you aren't Southern, don't even try to imitate a Southern accent because all it does is make you look ridiculous. I don't know who approved the show to use this accent for the narrator, but they need to be fired. Just ridiculous.

I would really like to enjoy this show but I just can't get past the narrator's fake Southern accent. Just detracts from the show. I watch just about every true crime series available and no matter what state the crimes occurred, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, etc, the narrator speaks normally and clearly. I feel like l'm at a proper Southern tea party and the hostess is "putting on airs. I've tried for the past few weeks to watch an entire episode but just can't. (Why do I need to have an exact number of characters to make a comment that can be submitted? I can say this all in fewer than 600 words.

I can not. I was so looking forward to the premiere of this show, but within the first few seconds I was horrified by the narration. In all of the world, WHY choose that narrator with the overdone FAKE southern accent?! It is unnecessary, condescending to those from the south, and detracts from the entire show!! I am fairly confident no one wants to hear that nonsense. Surely a qualified voice actor/actress with an authentic Southern accent could have been found, if that attribute was even needed?! I certainly do not think it was/is, and do not plan to watch and/or listen to this again. Cringe!!

Are y'all serious with the fake Southern accent? It's like y'all's narrator is from a different country. I wonder what a lady from england would sound like trying to do a Southern accent? The show is like the rest of the crime shows. Nothing is more annoying than someone being something they are not. It's like if an Asian person committed a crime a Russian narrator should be trying to have a Asian accent. Or maybe a person from the North committed a crime and then being from Australia trying to narrate like a Northern city person. The show just gets on your nerves every time the narrator starts talking. We find it really weird y'all make fun of Southerners by trying to talk like us.
Not impressed..

The show itself is a good true crime effort. The narrator in a fake Southern accents makes it seem as it the show is mocking the cases it covers. I almost turned it off immediately but decided to watch in spite of the narrator. Worst casting decision. Change the narrator and this may be a credible offering. I'm not sure why they didn't get a narrator who is actually from the Sourh or just anyone else. Suprising and disappointing casting choice from a production firm who has many successful previous and long running projects. Not up to par. So many other similiar crime shows and this does not reach the bar.

Please, please, please, stop insulting true Southerners with the narrator's fake Southern accent! Came here to see who she is and she is from England?! What were these guys thinking when she was casted? You have the beautiful Southern Hilary Taylor Burton but couldn't find a true Southern narrator? I find that hard to believe. The narrator sounds like she is poorly mimicking my late Aunt who's beautiful drawl I could have listened to all day! There are plenty of talented actresses from the South so head to Atlanta and start your search!
I also see that I am not the only one who feels that way. Quit insulting our beautiful accent!

I think the narrator is absolutely disrespectful to the families of each episode. These are serious, heartbreaking stories and this awful, exaggerated fake southern plantation accent completely takes away from their story. Her "acting" is awful. I'm a southerner and I can tell you absolutely no one sounds like this in real life.
Get rid of the narrator and maybe I'll give it another chance.
I'm a true crime junkie. Absolutely love all things true crime. So for me not to watch has to be a big deal.
The 3 stars are because of her.. maybe, hopefully one day I can give more because I enjoyed the stories themselves.

Well, I declare, the narrator sucks more than a swamp leech on a bare bottom! But seriously, the show isn't bad. However, it does repeat stories we've already seen on other (better) crime shows. Unfortunately, they hired a horrendous woman to narrate. You just need to mute the TV and put on closed captioning. Problem solved. Frankly my dear, I wouldn't give a damn if this show were to be cancelled due to her phony accent. It's actually worse than Julia Roberts' attempt at a Southern accent in Steel Magnolias. Their voice coaches must be laughing all the way to the bank! Luckily for us, we have many other shows from which to choose.
It's your typical true crime show you can find on Oxygen or Investigation Discovery channels. It's interesting enough with interviews from loved ones, investigators, etc. There's nothing particularly unique about the format, but if you like the other shows on those networks, you'll like this one just fine.
The biggest issue with this show is the narration. If you've seen the episode of The Office where Michael Scott makes everyone play a murder mystery game set in Savannah, you are probably going to be reminded of it every time the narrator speaks. The exaggerated Southern accent is certainly something...

Oxygen says of he show Sins of the South: "a deliciously delightful Southern inflected narration..." Who on earth decided that using a woman from England to fake an irritating, obnoxious, insulting "southern" accent was delightful? Did ANYONE from Oxygen listen to her? If it is supposed to be funny, it isn't. It's insulting. And why would you try to be funny for a show on murder? It makes this show absolutely unwatchable. I live in Virginia, but have spent most of my life in New York. But I know that is NOT what southerners sound like. I am insulted on behalf of all southerners. I can't even finish the episode. Nope. Changing the channel to absolutely anything else. I gave it 1 star because 0 was not an option.
