It may be 3-D, but the film is still FLAT
28 July 2003
I just came home from watching it, and everyone is running for the Advils, it seems that the 3-D gave us all headaches. Anyways, here is my review.

I have had a 3-D book since I was a kid, and it came with it's own pair of 3-D glasses. You know the old fasioned kind, the red and blue shaded glasses that gives everything the red & blue tint. It is a very cool book with the old kind of 3-D.

Now, I remember in the 80's, all the NEW 3-D movies had a whole new 3-D. No longer were 3-D movies limited to the red & blue tint that required the red & blue shaded glasses, the glasses that were needed were clear & POLORIZED....it kept the movie in FULL color and gave the 3-D film a cleaner and sharper image.

I heard that this movie was a whole new approach to 3 demention, so I was excited about seeing this. But imagine my surprise when I bought the tickets when they handed me red & blue shaded 3-D glasses.

The only new approach is the computer graphics used in creating 3-D images. Instead of throwing real items towards the camera to make you duck in your seat, now there are computer generated items floating around and flying towards you. The special effects were, as always, top quality...but honestly...there was nothing new or special about the special effects. In reality, you feel as though you've seen it all before.

As for the 3-D effects. I must say how disappointed I was. The color in the film during the 3-D scenes seemed dull and almost a sepia tone, except for the red & blue tint used to make the images in 3-D.

I REALLY expected at LEAST a POLORIZED image for a bolder color and clearer 3 demention. Instead, all I got was a trip down memory lane with the old fashioned 3-D.

Now, if you have never SEEN a 3-D movie, dont get me wrong, it STILL is a spactacular thing to see, and you SHOULD experience it. The kids will LOVE it.

As for the storyline in this film....well, forget it. This wasn't created to carry a plot, it was created to become a cash-cow in the Spy Kids series and used 3-D to draw you in. It worked, but this plot didn't.

And if THIS film doesn't KILL Sylvester Stallone's movie career, then it's ALREADY DEAD! I was never more embarressed for an actor before than I was for him in this one. This was almost like seeing him wave a white flag and admit to being an aging Hollywood cast-away who is grasping at ANYTHING to stay on screen. Think Bette Davis's charactor in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"

Oh well. Your kids will love this 3-D mess, and if your easily amused, you might also.

A timeless classic that will never loose it's charm
11 June 2003
If your looking for a serious musical based on Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, keep looking. But if you are looking for the most FUN-FILLED, musical-romantic-fantasy-comic SPOOF, then look no furthur.

THE PIRATE MOVIE never once took itself seriously, and neither should you. In 1982, THE PIRATE MOVIE was released and musical comdies were never the same. Exploding with energy but lacking in talent, THE PIRATE MOVIE celebrated the rebirth of the musicals (Grease, Xanadu), spoofed the current blockbusters (Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars), and radically updated a classic tale of Pirates and swash-buckling heros, while offering musical numbers that reflected the rock-n-roll mood of the 80's.

Kristi McNichol and Christopher Atkins may not have displayed the talents of Academy Award winners, but they brought to the film all the fun and energy that made this film EXPLODE with excitement. The chemistry between these two will be remembered from that first kiss (wow, what a kiss) to the HAPPY ENDING.

I was 13 years old when I saw this film in a theater, and I enjoyed it SO much, I stayed and watched it twice. Since the discovery of the lasor-disk to the VCR, I have enjoyed the movie over and over again through the years, till mine got worn by use.

I recently rediscovered this gem of a movie in my local Blockbuster Video and watched it all over again with my own daughter. She is now the newest fan of this incredibly entertaining film. I was able to barter with the local store and now this copy is ours to keep and to enjoy all over again and again.

We look forward to the day when CBS/FOX Video wises up and releases it on DVD to entertain a whole new generation. But till they do...we will wear out yet ANOTHER copy of THE PIRATE MOVIE on VHS.

The Best Summer Blockbuster in years
3 May 2003
As one of the newest fans of X-Men, I was very excited for this film to be released. I had only DISCOVERED the first film about 3 months ago, and was BLOWN away. Last night, my wife and I attended the late showing and had the WORST MOVIE THEATER experience in our lives. No air conditioning, noisy crowd, JAMMED seats, spilled concessions, and fat ladies in the row who wouldn't move for us.

Well, in SPITE of our miserable experience, I must admit that X-MEN 2 was one of the BEST summer films in a few years. This was not just a good film, this was an EXPERIENCE that movie magic is all about.

Yes, there WERE a lot of characters to focus on, and in order to do that, some of our favorite characters from the first one were sacrificed for newer ones, but even the NEW characters were interresting enough that I could forgive the absence of a few others. Cyclops got the worst screen time than anyone else, I actually MISSED him in this film.

But in order to develope the new villian, story-lines, and character developements, I thought Brian Singer did OUTSTANDING and gave us MAGIC.

Now, can I wait till the NEXT X-MEN? I'll just have to see this one a few more times.

Scooby-Doo (2002)
Fun, entertaining, and True to the classic cartoons.
16 June 2002
I have always been a fan of Scooby Doo, and now that I have two daughters, I have become a fan all over again right along with them. I was very excited about seeing this film, but before I saw it, I started reading the reviews in here. Boy, did I get nervous, not many good ones in here.

But today, I braved it, and went to make up my own mind. And am I ever glad I did.

Scooby Doo has not strayed far from the original cartoon classics. Many fans are adults today, and they must have expecetd a more mature version of Scooby Doo, kinda like The Brady Bunch movie spoofs, but many have forgotton, that the main target are KIDS! And I found the film to be VERY true to the cartoons that we all fell in love with.

The slapstick between Scooby & Shaggy, the mystery, and all the fun were right there. PLUS, I 'm glad to see that I'm not the ONLY one who found Scrappy to be a brat puppy who irritated the FART out of me.

Matt was just INCREDIBLE as Shaggy, I really don't think anyone could have done any better. Velma was also incredible realistic and true to the original character. Only one other person could have pulled it off and that is Jenny Garfolio (spelling?)

Fred and Dafney were ok, but not the best choices for the film.

And the special effects that breathed life into the Scoob, WOW, AWESOME!!!! Just INCREDIBLE!!!

I really look forward to ANOTHER Scooby Doo film. I LOVED it.

The Hitcher (1986)
A CLASSIC road-thriller, be afraid, be very afraid.
16 June 2002
There have been many road thrillers made that have been frightning and suspenceful, (Joyride, Breakdown, Duel, etc...) For some reason, The Hitcher has been overlooked and ignored, and I canot understand why. This is a CLASSIC masterful suspence movie that rates as one of the best road thrillers made.

I remember watching this one in the 80's, and being scared out of my wits. Then I just recently saw it again, knowing and remembering every scene, and it STILL held my attention almost like the first time. There have been movies to come out since then have have done as well, maybe better, but The Hitcher cannot be ignored as one of the best. A Hitchcock style classic that deserves more attention.

And Hey, now that a sequel is in the works with C. Thomas Howell reprising his role, maybe now this classic original will FINALLY get it's chance to shine.

Disappearance (2002 TV Movie)
A mysterious thriller with no answers
21 April 2002
OK, I saw the previews, and immediatly said to myself, there's some possibilities with that one. I watched it, and I must admit, I was held captive for the two hours. I mean, I didn't want to turn it off, or go channel surfing. It was entertainning, and suspenceful. Now, I MUST admit, it had an ALFUL lot of tv horror movie CLICHES. The very first scene was a bit over done and almost turned me off. There was NOTHING original about it, I had that feeling of seen it, been there, done this before. But yet, it still was kinda fun to do it again.

It didn't really drag anywhere, the pace was decent, but the ending left me a bit confussed. I don't know if it just was a total let-down and cop-out, or a stroke of genius on the story-line. Actually, it had that Jeepers Creepers ending feeling, kinda like the evil won nad the good was over-come. All the question were left UN-ANSWERED, and left you with an unsolved mystery.

Is it demonic? Is it aliens? What is it? What is happening? Were those the REAl people at the end? Does everyone die and get "replaced" with mindless drones?

I wonder if they are planning a sequel to this, because it felt like part one to a mini-series, and I'm still waiting for part two.

Ice Age (2002)
MUCH better than I expected....
18 April 2002
I hesitated on this one, becasue I saw a few pictures from the film, and thought the humans looked too silly and not realistic enough, and some of the characters looked flat and silly. But yesterday, I brought my daughters, 5 and 2, and all I can say is, I'm glad the room wasn't filled, because I laughed and snorted all thoguh the film. I laughed so hard, I cried. My girls loved it, and I thought the dialog was SOOO funny.

I enjoyed Shriek, but I actually think this one was a bit funnier. The plot is a bit old and worn, but the characters and the writting kept it so fresh. WOW! I LOVED IT!

AN AWARD WINNER.....
5 April 2002
I am so happy to say that this film has actually won something that it deserves...A Razzie for THE WORST PICTURE OF THE YEAR, another Razzie for WORST ACTOR OF THE YEAR, another for WORST DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR, and another for WORST WRITTING OF THE YEAR!

I am so troubled by the fact that a movie that shows a man REALLY masturbating a live horse, swing a newborn baby around a room by the umbellical cord, beat a handycapped woman's legs for sexual pleasure, sucking a raw cow udder like he was giving oral sex on a penis, etc... I just can't believe some people find this as entertainment.

What has become of our morals? What has become our society? What the HELL went wrong with Tom Green's mind? What is WRONG with this man?

Joy Ride (2001)
WOW, just when you thought it was safe to hit the highway...
18 March 2002
I absolutely LOVE a good suspense thriller, and it's hard to find one that really makes you cringe and tense up. Well, I found JOY RIDE to be just what I was looking for. I don't expect every movie to be BEST PICTURE OF THE YEAR, so I won't get all critical on such small issues that others seemed to have had. But I will say that JOY RIDE gave me one hell of a ride and I cringed though most of the film.

What a smart plot, sure it may seem a tad hokey, but it's REALISTIC. We ALL have played a simular joke once in our lives, and to see how this one back-fired made us ALL victims to Rusty Nails deadly vengence.

I'm do grow tired of such lame plots that have dead people coming back, senseless violence (gore), horrible acting and stupid reasons to show a girl without any clothes on. This one is SOO realistic, it could actually happen, ok, maybe the ending WAS a bit milked for an extra scare, but HEY, isn't that what people want? More scares? This one DID scare me, and I'm so glad I watched it.

The actors did a fine job, and the writers were brilliant. But I must agree with an earlier reviewer, why must a movie have so much uneccessary foul language? It could have been cut back and made into a PG-13 film, and I believe would have had a more successful run in the theaters, more people would have been able to see it. I can't wait for it to hit network tv, and see it again AFTER it's been edited.

Anyway, this movie really scared me, and I would reccoment it to ANYONE who enjoys a good smart suspense-thriller. JOY RIDE delivers.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
SPATACULAR! SPACTACULAR!
7 January 2002
Very few movies have affected me like Moulin Rouge. I must admit, when my wife and I sat in the theater, during the first 20 minutes, I sat there in utter amazment, and dizzy, but found myself in a trance that I wasn't ready yet to wake up from. I was held captive by the quick editing, the colorful costumes, and the flashing images that sped past my eyes faster than Superman could EVER fly. But I was HOOKED! And then, the story started and it got even better.

This is INDEED a love-it-or-hate-it film. I can understand why several people can't stand it, it isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I on the other hand, took it all in, and I "GOT IT." I loved the music that was chosen, I loved the set design, I loved the directing, and the cinematography. I have never been a big Nichole Kidman fan, but this film has opened my eyes to how talented she really is, and for an unprofessional, I thought she sang GREAT! I was even more awaked by her talent in THE OTHERS, but that's for another post.

Ethan was SUPRISING as Christian, who knew That Luke Skywalkers mentor could sing so well.

I saw this one 3 times in the theater, and countless times on video so far. I am SOOOOOO late in returning it to Blockbuster, I don't want to let it go.

WOW - Was I ever BLOWN AWAY!
23 September 2001
'The Omega Code' was a success according to the box-office records, and Hollywood took notice. But the critics were not so nice. It left people confused, and full of questions. Not so with 'Megiddo.'

The events in 'The Omega Code' is not acknowledged at all in this prequel/sequel. The ONLY connection is Michael York reprising his role as the antichrist.

'Megiddo' starts off with a very dark and sinister nature, and gets darker as the movie go's on. Stone Alexander is overcome with the spirit of evil as a child, and sent away to a military school. His evil nature becomes stronger and more evident as he enters the political field. His rise into power is filled with evil and murder as he learns the power of the satanic forces within him and puts them to use against anyone who stands in his way.

'Megiddo' is a cinematic achievement as a Christian film. Never before has the Christian media made use of digital special effects this effective until now. Watching 'Megiddo' is like watching the very pages of the bible unfold before your eyes. The battle scenes are straight out of Hollywood's finest war films, complete with dismembered victims, and explosive footage.

The drama in the life of Stone Alexander unfolds like a dark and creepy horror film. Enhanced with monstrous demons and gruesome special effects. Some scenes are very graphic and unsettling, but done without glamorizing the evil.

Michael York created his character in 'The Omega Code,' but here, he has fine-tuned it. An outstanding and gripping performance that will send chills. Michael Biehn fits the role of his brother who wages war on Stone, like a fine glove.

The storytelling is well paced and well scripted. 8X Entertainment has pulled out the big guns to present a chilling, horrific, spellbinding, dazzling, & breathtaking Christian epic with an ending that leaves you cheering and proud.

Make sure you support 'Megiddo', but be warned, 'Megiddo' has earned a PG-13 rating for good cause. Contains scenes that are frightening and realistically demonic. ( * * * * * - 5 Stars)

The Others (2001)
A wonderful tale of suspense and classic story-telling...
26 August 2001
Finally, a tribute to the days of classic chills and brilliant story-telling. Many claim this movie is too slow, remember, this generation is use to the mindless slasher teen flicks like "SCREAM", and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." These films are filled with brainless plots, and even more brainless charactors that are more concerned with pimples and condoms.

I was THRILLED to see a film with STYLE and the ability to tell a story without the use of expensive effects or sensless gore. The chills are created with classic lighting, a wonderful musical score, and characters that are realitic, not manufactured. Nichole Kidman played her character with a suprising ability to evoke fear with just her reaction to the "bumps" from the house. The young girl who played her daughter displayed a wide ranch of emotions, and was a strong source of conflict to Nichole's Character. The elderly woman who befriended this family with their strange and quirky needs, did a fine job of making us comfortable one moment, and suspicious and frightened the next. Great acting, incredible story-telling, and just the right amount of creepiness and chills to put it alongside the great classics.

The Miracle Worker (2000 TV Movie)
...told with emotion, heart, and feelings.
25 April 2001
I am SO proud of Disney for presenting us with movies with emotion, heart, and feelings, and not just another talking animal, or silly kids picture. On the heels of "Selma, Lord Selma", and "Ruby Bridges", comes this re-telling of the classic story of deaf, & blind Helen Keller, and her courageous teacher, Anne Sullivan.

Still not sure if the story was actually NEEDING another modern version, I gave it a chance because I love the story. I was very pleased and impressed with the acting talents of the two leads, and I enjoyed the gentle and touching way Disney presented them. a wonderful story (no doubt) but an even more wonderful presentation. Does it outdue the original? NEVER. Nor did "The Parent Trap" outdue it's original, but both versions are worthy of your attention. And this is no exception. A gem of a movie. Share it with your family.

And thanks AGAIN, Disney. You are slowly restoring my faith in your "family films" again.

WOW! Where did THIS movie come from?
4 March 2001
WOW! Where did this movie come from? Being a fan of Carman's, and I only just recently heard about this film. I saw it today, not expecting much, and all I can say is WOW!!! I really didn't know what to expect, maybe a cute little movie that Carman wrote and made, and a nice message about the Lord, with LOT'S of singing by Carman. Boy, was I wrong! This movie packs quite a PUNCH! I was ACTUALLY entertained, and found myself getting into this story, and caring about the charactors. The audience I was with, actually applauded during the movie during the climax and cheered during the grand finish. The quality and acting was MUCH better than expected, the action was cool, and the story kept pumping and throwing those curves that kept us involved in the story. This movie has a little bit of everything to please everybody. There is NOT alot of boxing, so the girls can feel safe about coming. Yet, there is enough fighting and action to keep the guys into their seats, and not go out for popcorn. This is a movie that the world can come and see, be introduced to a Christian lifestyle, and walk out feeling good and not like the gospel was shoved down their throats. This is NOT a preaching film, (come on, we see Carman beating people up, and smootching with the main lady) but do get to see what drives him spiritually. This movie is purely entertainment, and was I ever entertained! Thanks Carman and crew, for giving us another great film for this weekend!

Thank you Cloud Ten....
4 February 2001
Thank you Cloud Ten Pictures, thank you for giving us this movie. Presenting the reality of the book of Revelation on film makes understanding things and sharing them much easier. Hollywood is ALWAYS twisting the truth when taking on the prophecies of the Bible. (Ex: "The Seventh Sign", "The Omen", & "End of Days") Finally, the truth is told, and with such realism, action, & suspense without compromise. All I can say is THANK YOU Cloud Ten Pictures, I appreciate your hard work and commitment to quality film making. Please, keep it up.

Judgment (2001)

A very good film, BUT........
22 January 2001
Being a huge fan of this incredible series of Last Day Films, AND of Cloud Ten Pictures, I was anxious to see the next installment, following up the action-packed, suspenseful, previous films. In comparison to parts 2 and 3, this movie seemed out of place. It did not have the expected suspense and action we have come to expect, and it seemed to fall just a little short as a court-room drama. But as a movie that stands alone, not to be compared, I can honestly say it was still a good film. The plot was interesting, and the characters were true to themselves. After being led to believe thet Helen Hannah died in the third film, I was confused when I saw the previews of this one, and she was the main charactor again. But after watching this one, the explanation of her being alive was very acceptable, and a pleasant suprize.

Leigh Lewis does an OUTSTANDING job as Helen, and we have grown to LOVE this character, and no one can replace the sinister face of Nick Mancuso as the antichrist. Corbin Bernsen reminded me of William Shatner, a tad TOO dramatic, but yet, acceptable in the role as Mitch, the reluctant lawyer. And I must say, I have always been an admirer of Mr.T, and knowing about his real life Christianity has caused me to respect him more, but his acting skills are weak. He has only mastered ONE style and that style is seen in every film he does. Watching him BARK out his lines without EVER changing his facial expressions, got a little old after the first few minutes. All in all, it was a very good film with a POWER-PACKED message. Cloud Ten Pictures have set the standard for Christian films, that none have been able to top. Hollywood WILL be feeling the effects. if this series continues with another sequel, I can only hope it returns to the same action and suspense we have come to expect from the 2nd and 3rd parts.

Thank you Cloud Ten, for still giving us quality films we can watch, and enjoy, and share with our friends. I remain faithful and loyal.

POWERFUL, for a low budget film.
2 January 2001
The true story of Raul Reese, an out-of-control young man filled with hate and anger that eventually led to his downfall and misery, until he found himself with no other place to turn for help.

This was a very POWERFUL film with a POWERFUL message. The quality is poor, and the acting just the same. But the message is WORTH the struggle. The story-telling is good, and the ending is AWESOME. a feel-good movie worth sharing with people who stuggle with an out of control life. I enjoyed this movie, even if it is VERY LOW BUDGET!

I groaned with pain, but laughed my way out of it...
10 December 2000
And I thought MY father-in-law was scary, (whew). I must admit that watching this movie was extremely painful, like being kicked in-between the legs, because the frustration Greg Focker (hee-hee, I like saying that name), dealt with is SO REALISTIC. I groaned with pain every time he fell into another misfortune, but I LAUGHED my way out of it.

This movie was a VERY FUNNY film, and they used the PERFECT actor to play the SCARY father-in-law, Robert DeNero (he even makes ME squirm). Ben Stiller plays his ussual 'poor unfortunate soul' because he does it so well. Sure, there are some predictable moments, but when it happens, the results are funnier than expected. I LOVED this movie, and I'm taking my dad to see it. (Ugh, the pain).

A refreshing change for Nick Cage...
8 December 2000
This movie was a refreshing change from Nick's usual choice of films. It reminds the audience that he can do more then shoot a gun and action films, and it will bring back his female audience. As a father, I found this movie to realistically reflect the typical man's mid-life crisis. Sometimes funny, sometimes tragic, this movie touched me. The plot line might be slightly familiar, but it is pulled off well by Cage. My only complaint with the film was why didn't it end with him back at the airport, with another chance to make the RIGHT decision, at least that way, we would have KNOWN what their life would have been like. And just WHO WAS that black guy? Or WHAT was he? Anyway, I highly recommend this one.

The Joyriders (1999)
An interesting film about conflict, struggle, and change.
20 November 2000
An interesting film about conflict, struggle, and change. While the quality of the film itself was lower than standard, it presented a very realistic out look on homeless youth and the gritty, day-by-day survival on the streets. Throw in a suicidal elderly man who get's caught in the middle of the youth's criminal rampage, and you have an excellent character study of the human nature, and the power of change. Can this old man change the course of these rebellious teenagers? Can these teenagers change this old man's out look on life? Yes to both. This was a great film with a powerful message. A nod to Kris Kristofferson's character who presented the TRUE answers for all the lead characters. Also to the film-makers for the AWESOME choice of music used throughout the film. I was impressed with the acting by the three teenagers, and Martin Landau was already a proven win. Bravo!

Joseph: King of Dreams (2000 Video)
A Great Bible story for everyone to enjoy over and over again.
9 November 2000
Dreamworks has done it again. Joseph is just as triumphant as The Prince of Egypt. The animation is just as spactacular, and it's accuracy is VERY close. A great bible story lesson for the children and family to enjoy over and over again. Great music, an animated epic. Why this one didn't hit theators in America is the biggest mystery. The biggest shame is that no one has heard of this one, it is a real "FIND."

Dinosaur (2000)
The effects were the REAL star....
24 May 2000
It wasn't the plot that drove me to see this prehistoric tale, but the effects. They are the REAL star of this movie. As for story and plot...take "Land Before Time", "Jurasic Park", and mix in a little bit of "Tarzan", and you have Dinosaur. (I mean, come on, little monkeys raiseing this HUGE dinosaur?) The charactors were cute, but you can't help but feel as though you met them all before, from another movie.

But there is NO other movie that can be compaired to in EFFECTS. I must admit, I was ASTONISHED at how INCREDIBLE it looked. So astonished in fact, that a couple of times, I was too busy admireing the visual effects and really studying it, that I lost track of the story. It looked so darn REAL. Like I said, the true star WAS the effects. I LOVED the meteor shower scene, it was so pretty. Now, was this movie suppose to be for children? Because I know that there were some scenes that are just the RIGHT ingrediants for NIGHTMARES! It was a bit too intense for small children, I had to listen to one poor frightened child a few times.

Enjoyable, but for the FAMILY??????
17 May 2000
I REALLY enjoyed the first film, and was skeptical of seeing this one with a different cast. I must admit, THIS Fred actually did a better job than John Goodman, however I miss Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma. I thought Steven Baldwin (A Baldwin playing a Barney...lol) did a pretty good job as Barney, and I can't decide which Barney rules, Rick Moranis or Steven. OK, Rosie O'Donnell ROCKS as Betty, this one was a good attempt, but it just wasn't Rosie. My only complaint with the film was the sexual comments made. Betty invited Barney over to her appartment to have sex, and the Great Gazoo was sent to earth to study man's MATEING ritual, And He tells Barney and Fred to "Go to it" as Barney is laying on top of Freds backside. Barny starts cleaning a girl's chest area after he makes a mess, and to Betty who see's, it appears that Barny is PLAYING with the womans breasts. This is suppose to be a FAMILY film, and I found this material VERY unacceptable for my two daughters. I thought Alan Cumming was WONDERFUL as the Great Gazoo, this was a breakout performance. The plot was very good, (However, they never did explain Fred being cleared of his framed crime, or escaping from jail, and the issue of the stolen pearls was never resolved),the acting was great, (considering it WAS A CARTOON), and the special effects were not bad either. There were no laugh out loud jokes, but I did smirk a couple of times, it was enjoyable, but be warned before taking your small children, unless you're ready to answer some sexual questions.

The video production is a REAL TREAT
15 May 2000
I have not seen the stage performance, but the video production was a REAL TREAT. Full of energy, color, and talent, I have treated myself to this pleasure MANY times already. Donny Osmond seemed an odd choice until I saw his talent, then I too was convinced that no one else could have done any better. Maria Freidman was absolutly charming in the role as the narrator. Each of the brothers made a standout performance and the "King of Egypt" Pharo was iceing on the cake. The music is catchy and full of emotion. My personal favorite was "Close Every Door." Donny sings it with such passion, it really spoke to my heart. This video will be a favorite among my collection, I just hope nobody asks to borrow it.

Hairspray (1988)
One of my guiltiest pleasures....
15 March 2000
The first time I watched this, I thought it was SO weird. I couldn't believe I was actually watching this, but yet I was not able to turn it off. After I returned the film to the video store, I found myself three days later talking about it with my mother and suddenly, THEN I started laughing. I was compelled to rent it again, and view it a second time. Immediately I was hooked. It took me three days to understand John Water's dark humor, but once I got it, I LOVED IT! "HAIRSPRAY" has since become one of my favorite movies. Ricky Lake hit fame with this mainstream hit, proving to the world that "BIG IS BEAUTIFUL."
