Baki is absolutely insane in the best way possible. If you are looking for a show with interesting ideas and themes, or deep messages, or heck, even a show that makes sense, Baki is not the show for you. Essentially the creator of Baki has done something never before seen in history. He has thrown out everything in an attempt to make the most enjoyable show possible. Nothing in the show makes sense, and anything and everything can be thrown out at any time if it makes for a more fun scene. It really is a show where you have to buy into the logic of the world in order to enjoy it, and if you do, you won't be disappointed. Amazing fights, badass characters, and absolutely hilarious comedy combine to make Baki one of the most insane, wacky, supremely fun shows of all time. If you're looking for a good time, this is it.
After a somewhat slow start to the season, the boys picks up with one of the best episodes to date. Nearly every character is given their own time to shine, each in their own unique plot lines. Even though the show is splitting its attention between nearly 15 characters, the pacing is absolutely immaculate! Nothing feels rushed whatsoever, and the episode is not afraid to take its time for certain scenes. Every plotline is simply fantastic this episode. Homelander has one of his best episodes ever, Butcher is excellent as always, Hughie and Kimiko have an amazing team up, Starlight and Firecracker's beef escalates to an insane degree, Frenchie has an excellent conclusion to his plotline this season, and even characters like Ashley, A-Train, and the Deep get their time to shine. The episode is also filled with absolutely wild twists in it that could potentially change everything for the boys. It is absolutely an episode that will keep you glued to your seat. Diabolical!
Frieren is truly a show that only comes around once every decade. An absolutely heartwarming take on the traditional fantasy adventure. The story is built on the backs of its characters, each of which has incredible chemistry with everyone else, and delving into these characters mindsets, backstories, and motivations is always a treat. Nothing ever feels poorly paced or cliche, its just absolutely perfect. Frieren is definitely the star of the show though, and her character is truly one of the best explorations of what it means to be human I've ever seen. On top of the characters, the show is incredibly funny, beautifully animated, and contains a wonderfully fleshed out world for the characters to explore. The incredible actions of our characters feel all the more important because of the time we see them spending interacting with the more mundane parts of the world, and even though they are not always fighting some all powerful demon king, the show never feels boring or uninteresting. It is truly a perfect example of how to build a unique world in a very short amount of time. On top of all this, you also get a cool and in depth magic system, along with a plethora of great fights to entertain you, so if that doesn't convince you to give this show a shot, I don't know what will. Frieren is indeed something special, and I can't wait for the story to continue in season 2.
