Words on Bathroom Walls (2020)
My son with mental illness asked me to watch this
Never mind cinematography. Never mind budget. Never mind acting. My teenage son with mental illness asked me to watch this, so I did. Afterwards I asked him .."is this you?" and he said yes.
So take this review any way you want. According to a 16 yo with mental illness, it is an accurate portrayal of his every day struggle to fit into this world.
Dr. Death (2021)
Intense
Great acting, riveting from start to finish. I couldn't stop watching. This is such a horrifying story that it's hard to keep in mind that it's true.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Too Disney
I wanted to love this. I really did. But being my age raised on the og Star Wars with Boba Fett it's just hard. Many people are liking the way they humanized the character. I feel the opposite. That being said I have ever intention of sticking with it. Star Wars 4 Life.
Fractured (2019)
Slow burn but worth it
23 minutes in I was ready to give up so I came to IMDB to read the reviews. I'm glad I did because I stayed with it and it was worth it
It Chapter Two (2019)
Disappointing
The first IT movie scared the bejeepers out of me. I mean what is scarier than a psychotic clown? Unfortunately in Chapter 2 unless you have Arachnophobia this movie will do nothing for you in terms of thrills. I feel that one of the reasons the first movie was so good is because of Skarsgaard's amazing acting as Pennywise. This movie is just CG heavy and very little acting.
**Spoiler**
Also on an unrelated note the homophobic hate crime at the beginning did absolutely nothing to add to the film and left my thinking "why was that necessary?"
Somewhere Between (2017)
Good idea, horrible acting
It's a good premise. If you can look past the lead female and the daughter's horrible acting, it's a pretty good show. I can look past the kid's acting, she's just a kid. But Paula Patton...yikes. Each line of dialogue in the same monotonous tone. Still, stick with it if you have time to kill and are just looking to be entertained.
Annihilation (2018)
I really tried to like this
I wanted so badly to like this movie. I actually did enjoy it until the end. It is visually pleasing and the special effects kept me riveted. My problem with the movie came *after* it ended. Once I started thinking. Sure, there are inconsistencies, but it's just a movie. Plot holes don't bother me as long as I'm entertained. My issue was after the movie ended and I got to thinking.....it was like the whole movie unraveled. Spoilers ahead.....stop reading now if you haven't seen the movie ......
It is revealed in the end that Lena is not Lena. It is an entity that stole her identity to leave the Shimmer. The whole movie is flashbacks narrated by the entity.....so....basically.....the whole movie is a lie. Everything we just watched may or may not have happened. Maybe there was a bear, maybe there wasn't. Maybe these are Lena's actual experiences in the Shimmer, or maybe this is just a story the entity made up. For all we know, Lena died second she walked into Shimmer and this entity made up the entire story. I'm not a fan of movies that basically end with "just kidding."
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
How did anyone get past the horrible acting?
The whole movie is so badly acted it's worse than watching Twilight looped in slow motion. I won't even get info the ridiculous stereotypes. Don't bother. Not worth the hype.
Errementari (2017)
What a great find!
I'm so glad this popped up on my suggestions or I never would have known if exists. It's a little slow to start but once it does you can't take your eyes off of it. It's simplistic and beautiful, no heavy special effects. The movie relies on the sheer talent of the actors. A rare gem.
Badder Ben: The Final Chapter (2017)
Seriously bad
Despite other user reviews I went ahead and tried to watch this movie because I had just finished and loved Bad Ben. This movie is a joke. The acting is horrible. It's like a middle schooler's YouTube project. I gave up after 10 mins
